  • In this video, we're reacting to this song entitled "ANGST" by German rock band RAMMSTEIN. We discuss the emotions the song induces, and how fear is invoked through the media and politicians.
RAMMSTEIN is one of the most influential rock bands of our time, and "ANGST" is a powerful release that will leave a lasting impression.

I'd argue that Rammstein have made 4 of the best music videos of the last 5 years in the form of Deutschland, Angst, Adieu and Radio.

A great video with a strong message.
The dance of the cheerleaders reminds of the Haka dance of the Maori in New Zealand. It is used to scare and intimidate the enemies.
Using the Haka dance here symbolically actually fits very well with this. The cheerleaders are clearly working for the crazy guy at the lectern, whose inflammatory speeches reach the people via the media.
It's also pretty remarkable that cheerleaders are doing the Haka dance here. This twists the very purpose of their task, which is to provide joy. The good, so to speak, is turned into evil.

The most accurate interpretation I saw so far. You`re right to 100%. One little detail I also missed in 1rst time seeing. They`re not just eating "Negro Kisses" they also sit on a table and cutting former so called "Zigeuner Schnitzel" (chipsy schnitzel), which is also renamed nowadays in Germany. In conclusion you can say that this Video is about refugees who see how we live and think it`s the holy grail and we have the fear that they overrun us. And there is one aggressor (Obviosely the US) who spreat hate and make normal people just crazy.

    • @VikingReacts
      @VikingReacts  Před rokem +1

And I absolutely love "Zigeunerschnitzel"! We still call it that in the Netherlands by the way. I am curious as to what they call it now though. Romani Pork Chop (i know...lame joke)?

But anyways, I am happy to see that people approve of my interpretation!

Hello Viking! I have just watched all of your Rammstein reactions and I just want to encourage you to continue, because it is great to see and hear reactions, opinions and interpretations to songs from my favourite band ever by someone who actually understands German language. It is really refreshing and I am looking for more reactions or even reviews of older songs, because I assure you, they are much more than their biggest hits and their lyrics are almost always very deep, metaphorical and with double meanings.
    Cheers from Serbia.🤘

I think the last scene can be interpreted like this:
We create fear in the media, even though there is no need. All so that we can sit at home and consume - literally offensive - content and all the while, people - predominantly black and brown people - actually live in fear and poverty every day. Not of their own making, but of others greed and cruelty.

    @ileana8360 Před rokem +3

    Great reaction.
To understand Rammstein one has to watch it more than once and even discuss it with other to get every aspect with regard to meaning of the lyrics including the double meaning of the words, the metaphorical language of the music videos and the meaning of the use of colour or here for example the red wire (oder Roter Faden, der einerseits alles verbindet, sich aber auch durch alles zieht). It is just unbelievable how many layers and their songs have and even to how many different social topics they address in one song.
Isn´t it always with great art that the meaning is in the eye of the beholder? Therefore Rammsteins live videos are more for entertainment and the music videos are more for thoughtful analysis.
Most important: Rammstein invides to discuss with others, listen to other theories, reflect on our own thoughts, feelings and preconceptions. That is the great gift besides they bestow upon us besides the pure entertainment by the music provided.
BTW: If you intend to re-listen "Ich tu´ dir weh", go for the music video first and the the live video.
    Greetings from Germany
P.S.: mach so viele Pausen wie notwendig. Lass´ dich da nicht beirren.

  • @jreyman
    @jreyman Před rokem +1

The ending has to do with everyone being obsessed with social media and being engrossed in others lives, and what others think and say, (them, watching each other) instead of breaking free, being involved in the real world (color returns), and living your own life, being kind to others, and thinking for yourself. There are other posts that are saying similar overall concept (though some may be more eloquent in their wording).

    Good reaction. 👍
What videos to watch from Rammstein? I have a few suggestions.
If you want to see their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence)
Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden)
    Du hast (live from Paris)
Engel (live from Madison Square Garden)
Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017)
Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden)
Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016)
Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious)
Mein Teil (live at Hurricane Festival 2013)
    Amazing official videos
Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale
Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march
Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity
Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm!
Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background)
Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad
Mein Herz brennt (My heart burns) scary, nightmarish, very special
Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album:
Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional
Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny
(Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message)
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view)
Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional
Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together.
It seems you don't need English lyrics to understand Rammstein songs. If you find, it would be helpful for your audience:
For many of Rammstein's videos there are English subtitles available. To find a lot of them, you may search on CZcams for: "educated marine rammstein" + songname
For live videos of Rammstein songs, www.youtube.com/@Bucksttabu/playlists is a good source.
In case of Rammstein, precise translations of the lyrics is hard work (and sometimes not possible in subtitles), because they are playing many times with double meanings of words or slightly modify common German expressions and symbolic language pictures to invert or change their meanings. (That is even used in the very simple lyrics of "Du hast".)
I wish you to enjoy your restarted Rammstein journey.

Definitely keep on stopping when you have things to say. Gives the thoughts out as fresh as they can be as well as helps with the copyright stuff.

It doesn’t help at all with the copyright though. That is a myth… sadly. But still, I don’t care as any possible monetization is a nice bonus but not the point of the channel. This is literally musical therapy/discovery and me connecting to likeminded people. If anything comes in.. my kids or wife have an extra gift this month :p

    Hello
the video is fantastic. It describes the power and manipulation of people, their brains, by the media and society. Neighbors that were once friendly become enemies, enemies who kill each other with evil. You wall in your good feelings and positive thoughts, you become lonely and lonely. Evil is the bound Till and the Cheerlyders are his accomplices to command a foreign controlled crowd.
The dance performed by the Cheerlyders is a haka. The New Zealand rugby players, for example, do this just before the start on the pitch to impress their opponents and instill fear in them.
In the end, Till smashes the medium of TV, which manipulates us through the powerful of the times. This gives reason to hope for a better world without prejudice and discrimination. One's own life regains, represented by the color that is visible again.
It is a video against prejudice and manipulation by media and governments. The implementation is virtual, a real masterpiece thanks to the musical intensity and Till's charismatic vocality.
Let's look forward to more inspirational songs and movies from Rammstein. What do you think?
I wish everyone a good time

Hi, good reaction. There are many different interpretations of the song. Some say it's about East and West Germany (I don't see it), some say it's a racist warning about refugees (I don't see it at all)
I think your interpretation goes in the right direction.
I understand the candy thing to mean that rammstein wants to show the absurdity. On the one hand we have all-important discussions about inappropriate naming to avoid hurting people and we feel like good people, but in reality, in the real world, we let them starve, freeze and die. it's called hypocritical and through the mobile phone those affected can watch the absurdity live while they suffer.
There is one more thing. around 30 40 years ago we had two n-words in germany. the one with an "e" in the 2nd position and a single g ; which was a more neutral, nonjudgmental term for colored ones, like in the candy.
The second n-word, with an "i" in the 2nd position and a double g (as in the USA) was clearly a nasty swear word.

The meaning of song is in text of the song ,just right there. Straight away. Everyone has a fear for Black man ( there are a lot of refugees from Africa in Germany which are considered a Black people). Rammstein could not say it more straight away. It's so confusing for listener because we are taught to be liberal and politically correct and don't say Black man but in reality everyone knows what does it mean.

About the cheerleaders, easy: Sex sells. In addition they are two-faced, whenever they sell their customers bricks or weapons, they are beautiful and smiling, when they are alone, they are hideous and aggressive, representing the greed and uncaringness of their capitalist bosses for whom they sell his wares. Another fascinating point is the white circle that the customers never leave, I think it represents their mental horizon. Their clothing seems to be from the fifties, also representing their opinions.
