    I remember watching this race live, I was still a kid. Amazing memories, I miss this F1 - Alonso in his prime, Lewis was still young, Vettel was happy, Schumacher was still racing, THAT NOISE FROM THE CAR.

      Mercedes was faster on the straights. Nevertheless, Lewis has always stayed tuned. I don't know what condition the tires were in at the moment, but you saw that Lewis took the curves better

    42 years old MSC (by far out of his prime) schooled a 26 years young HAM for so many laps.
    Pole in Monaco 2012 at 43.
    Won at least 3 titles and dozens of races with an inferior cars (92-2001, 2003, 2006).
    Incredible peformance in Spa '95, Barcelona '96, Monaco '97, Spa '97, Spa '98 (if not for DC's idiotic idea) Hungary '98, Monza '98, Nurburgring 2000, Suzuka 2000, Melbourne 2002, MagnyCours 2002, Austria 2003, Canada 2003, Monza 2003, Indy 2003, MagnyCours 2004, Imola 2005, Hungary 2005 and many other that should be mentioned.
    Michael Schumacher goes beyond cold numbers with feats that are impossible to forget.

    If Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher can both respect each others speed and talent, why can't their fans? They were both from different eras and we should stop comparing them because they are both *GOTE* (Greatest of their Era)
    The whole comment section is just filled with people fighting who is the best driver. Let's just accept that they are both amazing drivers and this was a great battle btw them.
    And you know what, in a few years, a new champion will rise and he will break all these new records bring set by Hamilton.
    Because that's the thing....... Records are meant to be broken. Otherwise how can there ever be progress....
    And then even Hamilton will be remembered as a great legend of the sport like Schumacher is right now.

    Notice how Schumacher pulled in behind at turn one and then passed him at Curva Grande? Exactly what Max could/should have done a couple of weeks ago. He had tyres that were already warmed up and could have done exactly the same.

      Maybe in a few more years with some more race experience. But right now Max just uses aggression and tries to bully his way past drivers. Michael showed some fineness, I've seen other drivers with fineness, Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Button, Rosberg, even Ricciardo, and Webber. Max just isn't there yet.

Hemilton said that he is a Negro and everyone listens to him because whoever does not listen to him is a racist that's EVERYTHING. And Bottas cannot get ahead of Hemilton in qualifying because I add 1 liter of fuel to Bottas because he loses +0.030 +0.070.     Look at the lines Schumacher takes. Study the carefully. Then look at Hamilton's lines. The best possible defensive lines, and the best possible attacking lines. Schumi being in a inferior car doesn't help, but F1 doesn't get better than that. Perfection vs perfection. How I wish Schumi stayed on till at least 2014! His battle with Hamilton would have been epic!

    People often dismiss Michael in Mercedes era. They forgot this is 7th world champion who is mid age and has everything, he is in there just for fun. Moments of brilliance like this still remind us how great he was. And the man he is battling with on equal terms is the current most success F1 driver. That should show how good Michael actually was in that Mercedes

    This video is showing just a VERY smaal part of what i think, was one of the most epic battles in F1 history.

      It may make me sound a bit snobbish, but around here we call the extended tail/rear bodywork of a stock racecar "spoiler" (which doesn't have airflow under it), airflow above AND under the wing profile = rear wing.

Meanwhile Mercedes have now been dominant, and by dominant as in completely unreachable and a record breaking 5 1-2s at the start of one season, since 2014, meaning this is the seventh straight year. Just to let you know, there has been no other era in F1 this noncompetitive, the 2010s set a record for the least champions in one decade (3), and no team in history has had seven straight years of domination. Plus we're going to get another year of Mercedes domination in 2021, meaning eight years.

    I will always remember Lewis' car being geared too short for this race. Michael would out drag him even when the McLaren had DRS.

      @@Bahamuttiamat That was 2012 and it really only worked well in China. The 2011 car was fine, but a solid 4th best behind RedBull, McLaren asnd Ferrari.

      @peter pan Geared in such a way to go against cars with lower top speed and then once in the lead, you would no longer have the need for the longer ratios. Red Bull changed the ratios on Vettels car in 2012 at the Abu Dhubai GP due to not running at the front, which is why McLaren set the ratios that weekend as such, because they felt they would lead the race at one point.

      like when senna whined and complained about not driving for the dominant Williams team, he offered to drive for free and then called Prost a coward, to me that sounds like a complete crybaby phony world champion
      Schumacher preferred to compete and beat Williams and then when he had his chance to make a move he could have taken the Williams drive and easily be a 10 time gold digging world champion but no he chose to take up a greater challenge and still achieved it

      @@MrRodzilla Senna wanted to go to a more competitive car. You're blaming him for that? Schumacher wanted to go to Williams too. He was only stopped by his friend provoking him. Senna also had a chance to go to Williams in 1992. He stayed with McLaren. So your point falls short.
      He calls Prost a coward not for racing with Williams but for refusing to be his teammate. Which is of course questionable considering he often had preferential treatment. But then again, so did Schumacher.
      Besides the discussion is about racing skills. Not what they did in other areas. And secondly Schumacher isn't some clean old chap either. He's made some very questionable decisions on the race track and only the seven titles have saved him. Otherwise he'd be under a lot more scrutiny.
