Where's the accent from, & is that standard? I thought the word was a·kwuh·frz (/ˈæk.wɪ.fər/) not uh·kwuh·frz.
Clue is in the Latin or French for water, aqua.

Don't be a stereotypical leftist and say literally everything is because of capitalism. The animal agriculture industry is as successful as it is because most people love eating animal products and were raised to think it's perfectly normal and acceptable and healthy.
Even most people who acknowledge the harm the animal agriculture industry does and acknowledge that most animal products are pretty bad for your health say they will never stop consuming animal products because they like it.
Marketing may help to increase their sales but if these businesses weren't profitable because nobody was buying their stuff, they would shut down.
Capitalism bad but it's not the cause of literally every problem in the world.

This is one of my favourite topics (I highly recommend Andrew Millison's videos on this topic). Humans are sleepwalking themselves into water scarcity, even in countries which currently have no water supply issues, because we are draining our aquifers. Slowing the rate we use water can buy us time while we transform food systems to have lower water requirements (i.e. permaculture and native crops)
A 2023 Oxford study found that, compared to high meat eaters, vegans produced 75% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, 75% lower land use, had 54% lower water use, 73% lower eutrophication, and 66% lower impact on biodiversity. The reduction was stepwise - each reduction in animal foods consumed lowered the impact(table 4).
''All environmental indicators showed a positive association with amounts of animal-based food consumed. Dietary impacts of vegans were 25.1% (95% uncertainty interval, 15.1-37.0%) of high meat-eaters (≥100 g total meat consumed per day) for greenhouse gas emissions, 25.1% (7.1-44.5%) for land use, 46.4% (21.0-81.0%) for water use, 27.0% (19.4-40.4%) for eutrophication and 34.3% (12.0-65.3%) for biodiversity. At least 30% differences were found between low and high meat-eaters for most indicators. Despite substantial variation due to where and how food is produced, the relationship between environmental impact and animal-based food consumption is clear and should prompt the reduction of the latter.''

We have no way to remove tha damage done and the irresponsible greedy gas companies who have engaged in this need to lose everything- especially the personal fortunes of CEOs. In fact a lawsuit proving that they know what they are doing should be brought and these bastards should go to prison for life. They have destroyed the water of future generations.

I thought the aquifer woes were just limited to my area -- north Idaho -- where a sudden influx of humans and subsequent housing boom has created neighborhoods over our aquifer where we previously had prairie and farmland. Apparently these houses = more water demand than the crops we used to grow. Levels are dropping while existing pumps can't keep up with demand. Nor can the rest of the infrastructure. The sewer system is backing up, creating smelly neighborhoods. Transformers are overheating from the electrical demand. I learned in school how to protect our aquifer, but I fear transplants from out of state won't have the same knowledge and will overfertilize their lawns, let their cars leak fluids into the street, etc. :(
