You know what I’m a seamstress, and if I want new tools, I go get them, you are a carpenter for sure so if you want tools to make your life easier and people don’t understand that’s their loss. I love tools that make my life easier.

I have also turned into a tool woman and I love it!! My hubby was shocked when he learned that I bought a whole bunch of DeWalt tools. I told him that tools aren't just limited to men, good grief. I always like making things easiser if I can, and whenever I can afford to. You keep getting whatever tools you need and don't worry about the naysayers. I seriously need one of those battery holders!!!
Ceiling before walls makes sense to me especially if it makes the remainder of the job easier. There's always a method to Doug's madness. That was so cute seeing that kitty snuggled up in Maverick's lap.

I totally understand what you do, Doug, about staying up all night trying to decide. It’s annoying, but also fun sometimes, dreaming it all out, until you can’t decide and it cuts into your sleep.

Just a note: doing the ceiling first and then framing the interior is a technique pioneered by architect Steve Baczek for high-energy-efficient Passive House homes. By installing, taping, and sealing the drywall without any partitions, you dramatically improve the air and vapour barrier and improve the performance of attic insulation. You also save money on the drywall install because it is SO much easier and more efficient of materials. Little did you know - you are in complete agreement with a leading Passive House/Building Science architect!

Normally, I'd say that's way overkill putting the boards in to have a nailer for wires, but considering those 2x2 trusses, anything you do to strengthen up the ceiling is a good thing.

I'd love to come and have you teach me - it's so nice the way you think ahead and make it all neat. You should be a teacher! Oh wait I guess you are - lol. Thanks for explaining it all. My hubby is a contractor and he justs does it and says I don't need to, but he doesn't do it as quickly or neatly as I like. He's more of do it all then clean up at the end which drives me crazy. I'm planning on doing my sewing room myself - just to say I did. We took out a chimney so right now the whole house is covered in chimney and plaster dust. (plastic didn't keep it contained very well) So thanks again for showing things so well.

I think Maverick might be falling in love. ~~ When we stayed in an airbnb for three days once, they had stated on line that a neighboring cat and dog may be visiting. They had treats we could give them too. :-) The cat could access the backyard because, well, it's a cat. Ha-Ha. All the treats I put out disappeared too. (I did not overfeed. That would make a fat cat~~Ha-Ha) Never saw a dog while we were there. We were usually off visiting family or they were visiting us. It was nice for people with dogs to have that little fenced in back yard though, so their dogs had privacy and sniffing room.

Awhile back y’all showed a quieter air compressor and mentioned that it was indeed quieter. So when our old loud one died recently I purchased a quiet one. I don’t remember the brand y’all had or anything but I love the one we just got. It’s very possible I would have just overlooked that feature and went with a more traditional style. So thanks! Even my husband (who isn’t typically bothered by noise) appreciates it.

My own unique view of Your use of the New Zealand pine follows. l really disliked the appearance of the hills of pine trees displacing the aesthetic superiority (in my view)of the varied and beautiful New Zealand vegetation. I literally saw it as something like a fungus consuming the natural and correct growth that had flourished there.I always have suggested unkindly that perhaps God started furnishing the world from the south and lavished variety and beauty upon it. After rethinking the work as it continued north ,a desire to get it finished changed the project’s direction. Therefore the northern hemisphere were completed efficiently with stamps and now there is pine tree after pine tree after pine tree after pine tree😁. To see that New Zealand wood being recognized as particularly useful gladdens my heart,and helps me get a little perspective.👏👍🏻😊.

I had wondered about the adapter boxes in LED lights for a while now, because many attics are hard to access, and the light fixtures will presumably break before the house falls down. What a nice way of handling the situation.

We appreciate that. We actually have been looking into doing our siding too. We have a new plan and we have been preparing to start that job. It's just taking a while to get there.

How cool that those lights have adjustments for coolness/warmth of light, that's a good feature to have. Doing the good ol Wago thing I see. I def would put a little tape on the doors to those control boxes to eliminate possible rattles later. Now I'm imagining Doug was on the phone with a Kiwi talking about, yes get this very special board on the next boat out please. 🤣🤣

Your lighting is awesome and the idea of insulation the ceiling and then putting up the ceiling FIRST is such a brilliant idea!!! With the way Doug's brain works it doesn't surprise me with what he comes up with because he thinks and thinks and thinks about what his is doing and going to do...planning is everything but tweaking along the way is the best. I don't know if your area has bargain bin stores or not? They have 8ft. X 4ft. Bins on wheels which are fill with returns from Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon and other stores. Each day the price drops. I have bought LED recessed lights for 1.00 each. I bought a set of wobble deep well metric sockets Gear Wrench brand for 7.00. Do s search for your area . Great work!

I watched this video with one of my cats sprawled out on his back in my lap purring contentedly while I was rubbing his tummy. He's a grey tuxedo cat, such a sweetie. I wish I could show you my happy cat. LOL
The new mounting brackets for the lights look good! I think it's good to mull things over to figure out if there is better way to do something than the first solution that came to mind.
