    Real life, real issues, real interesting to watch. I was biting my lip with the well, the cabinet and glass shelves! We moved a huge cabinet that was oak and glass. Only 1 piece but all glass front, sides and shelves. Even tho the shelves were out, it was heavy. BF slipped and went to his knee and cabinet went down. No breakage thank God. It popped just a smidge and I used a block of wood to tap it back square.. It holds my Christmas village. Love the longer video and I'm all on board for tedious everyday stuff. Lol

    I'm not here to critique your trailer maneuvering skills, even though I use to be a long haul trucker years ago. I'm here to support, respect and encourage you, to continue doing things that works best for you and your family. Besides, when it comes down to being good at maneuvering a long trailer, it's one of those things in life that takes time and a lot of practice. But it's not something you're having to do every day, like a trucker does, so I wouldn't listen to the haters, because they're not you and they're not living your life. BTW, thanks for sharing another great video!! Much Love and Hugs to you and to your wonderful family!! ❤❤❤❤
    Just for some clarification, a weight distribution hitch would help you a great deal, "IF" you needed to take it back and forth to your other property. But since you're "NOT" going to be doing that, there's no shame in using what you have to get things done, we've been there ourselves. 😊😊

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  Před 3 měsíci +10

      Considering all things, I'm pretty proud of what we did though. It was hard to show on video but our cooking gazebo was behind the trailer, the water well right next to it, and the power poles and junk pile in front of it, so it was a tight squeeze with hardly any room to turn or reposition.
      In the end, it was the soft ground that got us! If we didn't have the excavator though, we'd probably still be stuck. At least it turn into a memorable experience.

    Having a functional workshop with a place to store your tools so you can easily get to them is important. It saves time not having to look for things or having to move things to work. Moving a trailer with a bus in a tight area is not as easy as people think. My husband hauls his cargo trailer behind our 30 foot motorhome and it's harder to get it backed into tight spots than with a truck. Many times people have come over trying to tell us how to do it. We know how it is just not that easy. So don't beat yourself up over it. You did a good job.

    You do what it takes to complete the job, you need to do. If people could see, how I do some of the things I have to do, to complete my home life jobs. It would make yours look totally professional 😊 your doing great. ❤

    My dear dad told me sage thoughts while growing up, ‘before you drive in somewhere know that you can back/drive out’ and ‘ take care of your tools and equipment as they will serve you well for life!’
    I’ve used this advise my whole life.
    Good job Doug and Ashley! I love how you think and problem solve and I’m so happy to be along for the ride. Bye Maverick!
    Take care dear family!

    Clapping!!!!! So painful for me to watch. I used to hate watching that kind of stuff when my spouse and his buddies did it. I'd get nervous. But you persevered and got her done. Congrats! I can tell you're happy.

    Really felt for you both there - Doug at the end - your weariness was palpable, and Ashley I was holding my breath each time you gamely wrestled with a cinder block, they looked so heavy!! Really happy for you it's all done now and you can safely re-sort your work space and calmly go forward. Agree wholeheartedly with others in that having the space around us clear of stuff not in its home is vital to happy and safe working. Big hugs and lots more courage to both of you!! ❤💚💯

    Ouch! But you did it. Kind of reminded me of watching hubby back up his trailers. 😉 He once cut to sharp and slammed the edge of the trailer into the back of his truck. At least you didn't do that. haha. You guys rock! ❤

    Mercy sakes! That was a "nail biter"🫣😱😵‍💫...The workshop, seems to me, IS the most important job right now. As you said, you Have to have a home for your Stuff or you can't really clean up. Being neat promotes creativity and enthusiasm for getting things done😄💙💜💚🙋

    Wow! That was a hard video to watch. The title hinted at the difficulty you'd have. Glad it all worked out okay. Ingenious idea to use cinder blocks to lift the glass cabinet. You are so clever. You always figure out a way to get things done. Impressive.

    This brought back the anxiety we all learned to calm on the farm as 10-12 year old "farmer's daughters". All 5 girls! Pulling and backing up trailers with the tractors or field trucks. We learned the maneuvers over time, but the nerves when learning...Wow!
