Tires. If you have a single axle trailer, this advice is of no consequence. But, if you have a two or three axle trailer, then please listen up. Trailer tires are not built like automobile tires, for a very significant reason. When you take a two or three axle trailer around a corner, the tires do not gracefully turn in the direction of travel and smile with glee as they do so. No, instead they are dragged sideways, screaming for their life. They are being twisted violently by the sideways forces. Those tires want to continue quietly in a straight line, not being skidded sideways across the pavement, tearing at their sidewalls. And, there you have it. The sidewalls. Trailer tires have special sidewalls to withstand sideways twisting. Don’t be tempted to put some other tire on your trailer, such as Light Truck tires. Trailer tires are special, for a reason. Another hint: If you back your trailer onto a hard surface pad, do the following. Once in place, roll the trailer forward and then back into place. Why? As you back in, you are invariably making a turn at the same time. You are twisting the steel belts as you turn. If you stop in the middle of the twist and leave the trailer there, the steel belts will “take a set,” that is, maintain the twist when later you decide to drive away. Now you have an abnormal tire. By moving forward and back at the end of the parking sequence, you allow the steel belts to straighten up before you go off and leave them. Happy trails. 😄
Really great thoughts Dale-- thank you for saving us from learning the hard way!!
Thank you for sharing that. Good info to know for sure!
trouble with trailer tires for campers is they are often china made and not too good.
Great advice. Thanks Dale.
Great information for me to remember
For $7500 this fella knocked it out of the park! Take that, Airstream! He saved about a hundred grand!
Peace
Don’t forever the cost of the trailer …. It cost at least 20 grand or more….
I lost count of how many "cargo trailer builds" videos I've watched, but yours is my favorite so far. Simple, functional beauty. Love it.
I agree..!
I love the functional simplicity and practicality of the cooking area.
Dude... that wall idea was actually a money and weight saving epic idea. Well done.
I've watched more of these videos than I care to admit, and this seems to be the best trailer conversion I've seen. Very nice, not over-done. Innovative! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much!
@@Stephens802 Like you, I'd want my motorcycle inside, thankfully a BMW F650GS is not huge.
Nice, I have a V Strom 650👍

Happy wife, happy life. ❤️
@@jmarie1719 So true...took me WAY too long to figure that one out!!!! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Excellent budget friendly build out. Would love to see it in person one day.
That would be cool.

Lol "she's happy with it so were happy with it"
Hit the nail right on the head
Best one I've ever seen. I would use a patio chaise lounge cushion on the wall instead of the 2 chair cushions. But man-o-man, I gotta show this to my husband...
I watch a lot of youTube trailer builds. I really like the simple functionality you have executed. Kudos!
Thank you very much!
I watch a lot of these videos as well, and just.......wow!! You nailed everything. Goals!!! 👍
@Meh Meh Did your nasty comment make you feel superior??????
@Meh Meh whomp YOURS out for inspection and review. Let's compare.
@Meh Meh CRYBABY
I have watched this video several times and each time I have a new appreciation for the simpleness and functionality of this build. Absolutely my favorite out of countless other videos I have watched. Thank you for the inspiration!
That's so awesome! Thank you soooooo much!
I cheered when u said, " still have room for my motorcycle" because thats exactly what I want! Thank you for the share and idea now!!!! And fabulous job! Sending you and yours well wishes of fun and adventure!
Skimming and saw motorcycle before i heard it and im looking into these now lol
this is just perfect!! just missing a couple of solar panels and batteries! This is the dream!
Exactly what I was thinking too.
There are way better builds that have been done. A lot of videos on CZcams
@@backyardbraaapn1017
This simple, but effective and suits his and more importantly the wife’s purpose. Yes, there are hundreds if not thousands of other trailer vids, many more luxurious but they all come at a cost in either time, cost or both.
Incase no one has told you GREAT F'ING JOB.... OUT F'ING STANDING SIR
WHY ON GODS BLUE EARTH DID YOU DO SUCH A GREAT NON EXPENSIVE PRACTICAL AWESOME JOBBBBBB 👌 👏 OUTSTANDING
Wow!🤣 Thank you very much!
You think the earth is blue?
From space, Earth appears blue.
@@xploration1437 I mean technically isn’t the earth covered with more water than land? So I guess if you wanted to get technical it’s be more fair to refer to it as blue rather than green since blue makes up the larger percentage. But that’s just the ramblings of a nerdy asshole.
Tell us how you REALLY f-ing feel though? I liked its f-ing simplicity, personally. Plus, it still has some f-ing room to spare if he wants to add somef-ingthing! Take f-ing care my friend.
Not an inch of wasted space, well done!!!!
This is by far one of the BEST tiny space ideas and build so far !!!!!! Brilliant, simple and perfect use of space♡
Bravo to you sir!
One of the best!! You can always buy those “as seen on tv” magnetic screens to keep bugs out when your deck is down. Anyway, great job!
Good idea!
That's exactly what I was thinking. Or install a metal frame that can be flipped up that goes around the deck like the shower curtain rail that goes around the top of the shower but install bug curtains. This would essentially make a screened in porch.
Damn, this just gets better and better, great idea!
Yes,great idea, I was thinking about the bugs situation when it's open like that.
From Big Lots I bought the as seen on tv screen door with the magnets in it for the side door of my trailer. From Harbor Freight I bought the home garage screen door kit and cut it to fit the ramp door opening, I stapled velcro around the sides and top and slid a 1/2 inch pipe (cut into 1ft pieces) into the bottom of the screen to hold it down. Still works after two years
I could totally live this way as soon as i get done raising my last child.
Me too!!
Me too Mia! He's 19 last one down then mama is FREE!! (I hope)
where do you put it? would you live on public road? caravan parks? private land - if so planning laws ( over here anyway) dont allow trailers . cheers
love the simplicity. It's *just* right. All of the comforts without going overboard. I'd totally live in that full time.
Wow, first time I ever seen a tiny house with everything you need in it. I love it!!
What a great build. Everything you need and nothing you don't. I would add a mini wood stove between the side door and the T.V. And of course a Wonder Wash will change your life.
If you enjoyed making this I know you could make fair money making the exact same trailer for others.
Happy trails. Thanks for the upload.
Because your trailer has two axles, it is very likely that this trailer is rated for more than 3,000 pounds. Also, remember, every travel trailer gets heavier and heavier with time. It is true. So, after two years of use, you should re-weigh your trailer so you have no surprises. I would suggest that you install a weight distribution hitch system on your trailer and tow hitch. It will travel much better for you.
True story! Studying it before I even get to the class room. I'm a learner as well as re-learning some stuff!
So Dale, why does the trailer get heavier ? Also, no need for weight distribution hitch unless the tongue weight either exceeds the rating of the receiver or the front of the truck gets lighter.
A travel trailer (something you live in) gets heavier every year because in a tight space like this, we get better and better organized. We humans get inventive. We find ways to cubby-hole another item that would be so nice to have with us. Every item adds a little more weight. And, after about two years, all these little things really add up. And, as this weight increases, there is a possibility that the tongue weight has changed, also. This is a critical point because tongue weight really affects how well the trailer and the tow vehicle work well (or not well) with each other. With a tag along trailer, you need a minimum of 10% (and 15% is better) of the total weight of the trailer to be carried by the tongue. When the tongue weight gets too low, it tends to try to lift up the rear end of your tow vehicle and, going down the road, it becomes unstable, leading to excessive sway and roll overs. Measure the distance from the bottom of your tow vehicle’s rear bumper down to the ground. Now place the trailer’s tongue hitch onto the tow vehicle’s ball hitch. Now measure the bumper to ground distance again. If the distance changed more than 2,” you need a weight distribution hitch to correct this. Even if you think you don’t need a weight distribution hitch, your tow vehicle will perform better with one on. In addition to what your tow vehicle can pull, there is another weight that is important. It is called the Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Your tow vehicle has this rating. It involves not just what it can pull, but how much total weight it can endure. How much does your totally loaded tow vehicle weigh PLUS the total weight of the fully loaded trailer. You need to know not to exceed that rating. It you are running very close to these ratings (and your tow vehicle does not have a manufacturer’s installed tow package), help your tow vehicle’s engine and transmission by keeping your engine running at higher ROMs than normal. This is especially important as you go up hills or start out from a stand still. Force (manually) your transmission to not shift until you get it “rev”ing in the each gear.
NOT ROMs, but RPMs, instead. Revolutions Per Minute.
@@dalebannon8503 , I totally get that, but you would have said that initially instead of making it sound like the trailer gets heavier all on its own which had me wondering if it absorbed moisture over time.
I weigh my axle and tongue and calculate my weights every time I change my trailer or the load. I am lucky that there is a public scale close enough to stop by and it is only a few dollars each time.
Oh, and with two axles the trailer probably has close to a 7000 lb rating.
I also think you meant measure the front bumper and if it raises then you are getting light in the front end. The best is to weigh the front axle, rear axle, and the trailer axles to determine when you need a weight distributing hitch and what size bars you need to apply the proper load distribution.
Now I wish I had added the ladder racks to the top of mine. This is the ultimate (gone fishing to get away from the wife) weekend getaway machine. Throw the kayaks on top and gone, now I'm thinking on a Murphy bed , once tilted up the kayaks will slide in perfect. Thanks for the super practical living ideas, seen a lot of these trailer converts and this is the most logical one yet. 👍 👍 🇨🇦 border line 11 (quote from ' gone fishin ' )
Simply amazing to me all the comforts of home including a dry bath that you have managed to integrate in that 7x14 space. You deserve many accolades.
Lots of clever little touches like the chair pads on the wall and pull out pantry. thanks!
I was wondering where your great water from toilet & shower went?
@@owentp I know you replied to me by accident, but not sure if they follw every comment. Gray water can be dumped down any sink drain. Though they didn't specify. Most people who build showers mainly use them to rinse off so not likely much gray water runoff from that. No more than the sink anyway. One could use a honey wagon and any dump station at a campground or free one.
Dude! That is insanely clever! Don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise. That is the most complete and functional conversion I've ever seen. I am seriously impressed and, quite honestly, motivated. I've said (many times) to my wife and my friends that I would like to have something like this for Sturgis. Now that I've seen it, I just might make it happen. Awesome job!
I think you perfectly captured the point of a conversion like this, frugality with function and style! Awesome job! Well done! Thanks for sharing!
You are the man!!! Great job 👏, I am a fan of every type of RV. I have never been more impressed by any DIY RV project. I can see why your wife is happy with the finished product.
"She's happy with it, so we're happy with it"... truer words have never been spoken 😂 Trailer turned out great 👍
Great trailer! Simple and functional and it will outlast any RV on the road. I also like that it is still light enough to be pulled by most reasonably sized vehicles. Thanks for sharing your trailer.
This would be an amazing solution for the homeless! They've build a tiny home "village" in my city but guess what? They've left out a toilet and so, even traumatized females have to use a communal toilet building in the middle. Splendid job, wishing you and your wife happy travels. She must be so proud of your cottage 😀
Excellent. You covered all the bases. In a cooler climate a diesel hearer could go where the air conditioner is. Thank you for the inspiration. Yours has to be one of my favorite conversions- very thoughtful.
I am so impressed with your converted cargo trailer. I have been considering reverting a trailer into a camper for a while now and this has motivated me even more to follow my dream!
Well done! I love the jacks on the back ramp door, will incorporate that on my build!!!
Thank you! I love them. However, make sure you install them far enough back so they don't hit the ground when you drop the ramp, I had planned for that but when I installed them the door handle was in the way so I moved them up and now they hit first. Still usable though 👍
@@Stephens802 thanks for the tip,I ordered them this morning!
Where can I find similar jacks?
I’m in love with this trailer conversion. So simple and fancy at the same time and that’s what make it unique 💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You've done a really great job there. Amazing that it has a bathroom and kitchen as well as keeping the space when the bed is not out. Inspiring.
I am amazed at how you used every bit of the space. That's a real house for someone. A single person could live in it and move all over the world. Way to cool.
Nice job. Grooving the plywood was truly a great idea for the effect you were going for. The barn door is outstanding and all of the pullouts are too. The great thing is you can use it and change anything you want over time. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you very much!
@@Stephens802 I love this
Can you tell me the cost to convert this
@@billywoods5816 $4,000 for the trailer, and about $3,200 for materials. Total of $7,200.
@@Stephens802
And you even have a toy hauler.
Awesome!! I've seen so many of these videos BUT your build is the BEST! Looks comfortable, simple to do, affordable & it's got everything you need & a frkn deck whole thing is BRILLIANT ❤👏
I absolutely love this design. I have seen a lot of layouts but this is the best. It is small but there is room for all the important things. Great job.
Nice build! Try to get a RVIA sticker for the side of it! Some campgrounds won't let you in if you tell them it's a camper... ask for a tent site and carry a pop up tent to throw out and just use your camper! Might not get fifty or thirty amp but you'll have a spot to part! Way to think out of the box. Great for hunting, boondocking and camping off grid on the low Q! Happy trails.
It's not a camper it's a utility trailer with a utility shower and utility bed. This is perfect for staying on the street. I'm constantly being harassed by the cops in my toy hauler . Because it's not a utility trailer I'm harassed in industrial areas and Because it's obvious that someone is in my trailer especially when the light is on I get harassed in residential areas too.
The grooves you cut into the plywood siding give your walls such a cool look. I love your idea.
A beautiful build that has everything you need, so IMHO it's perfect.
This is a super conversion! Simple, functional, practical, economical, and not over electrified!
The simplicity of this build is great, and functional.
One of the practical affordable minimalist tiny houses I have watched on the CZcams... without a huge complete kitchen as in a mansion 😊. Thank you for sharing your awesome home!
This is literally perfect. Not overdone, everything you need plus a bit of room to add if you chose to....side note :I am TOTALLY here for you having the sink as a shower lol
I got the brilliant idea to prepare one of this cargo trailer since yesterday, I decided to check some ideas and so far this has given me the best bathroom idea and the slide door ,YES ! Is Super awesome.
Thanks for sharing
“She’s happy with it so we’re happy with it” Lmao!
Looks great btw!
Yes and I'm definitely happy for her and wish her much blessings and safe travels.
Obviously she has "her man" well-trained!! :-) And I absolutely love the "cabin look" interior.
@@metalman69201
I can assume since it was factory ordered there was insulation in the walls and ceiling so utilizing the factory plywood for the look of the inside was well done.
One more reason not to get married to western society women
No shit , my response to the comment.
" happy wife happy life "
Impossible ...
I think this guy did a very great job i would definitely live in this as a tiny home💙💙💙
I've been with this same style design in my head for years just never really thought I could see what it would look like and thank you sir now I have a lot better focus on how I would like mine to come out that trailer is absolutely a outstanding job done
Great build with its simplicity, functionality, cost, weight and versatility! I ❤️ the hanging cushions making the back of the couch! And so much more! (Basically, everything!) Enjoy it! Thank you for the tour.
I love it!! This is exactly what I wanted to go with, so we could design it ourselves, but my husband wanted a camper, he won. We gave away most of our belongings and live full time in the camper. But now only three months in, our used camper is falling apart. So yeh, go with a cargo trailer and fix it up yourself. Campers aren't meant to last, and I tried to tell my husband that, but we're stuck with it now. You did an awesome job!!

I'm sorry 😞 that sucks
I understand. I have a husband, too.
@@the7HoffmanGirls 🤣🤣 yes, us husbands can be real PITAs sometimes. We "know" we're right, especially when we aren't. As I've aged, I've learned to humble myself though.
Nice build! A Bluetti EB240 and some solar panels would almost make you self-sufficient on power. Great job!
Perfect floor plan, amazing, what you did with the space and it works for two people, just brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A lot of the other conversions I see look really fancy but always waste a lot of space, I really like how you set this up to conserve space and so things are easily removable if needed.
She’s happy, we’re happy. Truer words have never been spoken. 🤣
You have a managed to pack everything into a small space and done it without making it seem crowded. By far one of best designs I've seen great conversion.
Just LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS !!! SO simple, yet roomy & has everything you could want ! Hi from Tampa & you covered it all. The wood interior is BEAUTIFUL.
Ok that’s enough Internet for today. I freaking love it. Very talented ❤️❤️❤️
Such a great build! Only thing I think could make this more perfect would be a hinged flip up table for 2 under the TV. Also really love how you use the ramp as a deck! Phenomenal job!
I love that shower pan, small enough to not eat up space but more than enough to stand in. Especially like the little sitting lip. Fantastic.
this is a beauty. I've been working on plans for a 20-24 footer but, to have essentially a full bath as opposed to a wet bath in a 14 foot space is awesome. Good job!
hands down one of the best diy builds ive seen, great use of the basics and layout, great job, thanks for sharing
Not sure if you got this comment previously but in your small slide out you might want to put on a small strip to keep cans etc from shifting like you did with the small roll out shelves... Looks amazing though thanks for sharing with us!
Really love how it's so spacy and light, and simple.not complicated.
You did an amazing job I love it simple that's what I'm looking for congratulation on your building God bless
One of the neatest and functional trailer builds I've seen so far. I want to build mine out and you have inspired me to start. Thanks for sharing!
This build is BRILLIANT. I love how functional and thoughtful everything is, not to mention quite stunning! The woodwork is wonderful. I am converting a skoolie by myself without prior experience in pretty much every area, so I very much appreciate this video! Big thanks!
Awesome video. This is by far the best trailer conversion I've seen on youtube. So simple and practical and looks great! I've been trying to decide if I should get a cargo trailer to convert but no video convinced me untill I found this one. Fantastic job and thanks for sharing.
Nice simple, budget-friendly build. Gave me some ideas and a great visualization for what you can do with a tiny space. Thanks.
It's good for being close to work. I work 6 days in a row so between shifts id like to recooperate in there then come out and can be early xD save money on rent. Rent is a big killer of wages
...the biggest. Mine exceeds 50% of net pay. Rent has increased from $500 to $1,000 in ten years. Might as well be organized crime.
love this so clean tidy and organised, a lot of the conversions look like a junkyard on wheels.
I want mine to look "unvaluable" from the outside. Putting a new one piece alum roof sheet on, other than that leave the screws bleeding rust on the outside. ...only tricked out things are wheel adapters to run same tire/rims as my e350 van
Thanks for inspiring, who ever try this very exceptional and real simple, home for living.
I've seen alot of these trailer makeover but by far this is my absolute favorite. I would go everywhere with this
I love it! I’d like to see an awning over the rear fold down platform, one that could be easily stowed. Not sure how, though.
Thank you, I actually installed that very thing! I need to take a video and post it. 😊
I love the cabin look and the overall usage of space. ⭐
I LOVE the simplicity of your build! You've kept it all VERY light-weight and, yet, modular so you can move things around. Thank you for some MUCH needed inspiration!
Nicely done…love the IKEA kitchenette - works fine, I presume is lighter weight, and easy to fix or replace parts compared to the usual countertop and cabinet kitchenette.
One of the nicest cargo conversions I've seen.
I could easily live in here with my parrot.. and my motorcycle 🤩
Amazing work. And your the 1st person with trailer that had a separate shower base away from toilet. Much better build than few others I saw. Great work
I like the idea of a cargo trailer as a tiny house. I'd put more windows in it so I can see the outside while I'm sitting inside. This is a great setup.
I really love your build. It’s just AWESOME!!!
This is a very nice setup. The woodwork is excellent. Wow!
Brilliant!! Esthetically pleasing. I have watched your video a few time now. I love your simple build. Reason...This looks doable for me. My favorite, hands down.
I love this!!! It’s beautiful, cozy, neat and simple. Beautiful job!
I love how you integrated the use of things like the pantry that also houses the AC.This is really awesome!
Very nice trailer build. I also have a 14ft V-nose cargo trailer that I converted about 3 years ago. I use it for camping and hauling my 4-wheeler and motorcycle. It's all electric with AC ( I too live in Citrus County). I use a portable generator and 12V battery system, pretty much self-contain for what I use it for. To me the greatest pleasure is knowing you built it yourself. Again nice trailer build, cargo trailers make a great blank canvas, and I'm sure you will get many, many years of enjoyment out if it.
Life is so simple and beautiful. We do not need to much to live comfortable ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really like the simplicity, not a whole lot of complicated wiring either & very cute!!
How efficient!! Dude, looks like you’ve got yourself a new side hustle!😊
I really like what you've done here. You fit alot into that tiny space. Well done!

One of the best, simple, complete and great video as well. Thank you for sharing.
I'd love this for my 14 yo since our house is so small but I'd probably never see him.
