I sat in the front row at Springsteen in St Louis on Big Man side. He winked at me and I winked back. He winked again and I looked over to my left and every girl in the front row was winking at him. LOVE ME SOME BIG MAN!
It's so different than the album version. So much soul and heart in it. Same goes for For You, the version they played on this tour is just so perfect. Why did those days go by?
I've always loved, LOVED, this version of E St. Shuffle, but I wish Bruce told the story of meeting Clarence on a cold, rainy night on the boardwalk. I guess he figured that wouldn't mean anything to an English audience, so he practically launched right into,"Sparks..." That always gives me chills, but it should be at the moment their hands meet.
My god. Roy's beautiful piano intro, Clarence's sax outro and everything in between. Best version of this song they ever played. Every year, we have an all night campfire party in May to celebrate my husband's birthday and the beginning of spring. I have an eighteen hour playlist for that night and this version of this song always ends it. By then, I'm usually picking up beer bottles at dawn. Havin' a party...
It's amazing how the lyrics are transformed in this version. On the album they just come across as fun party lyrics, way below his usual ambition. Here they evoke wistful nostalgia for old summer friendships. At 8:45 he goes off script and starts muttering: "cause pretty soon it's all gonna be gone..."
Many of Clarences solos are easy to play note for note. But most of us just sound silly in comparison! So much feeling in each phrase. So much color in each note.
He's been playing these songs almost fifty years. Saw him last week in Dublin, 3hrs nonstop, at 73 years of age. Everybody walked out on a high, almost a religious experience, my congratulations (and envy) to anyone who was in in the Hammersmith Odeon to see this in '75.
Well that was certainly a different version of the song. Cool to see how it started and what an epic tune it turned into over the years. Funny how the rest of the band is dressed to the nines, all sharp in suits and fedoras, while Max looks like he’s ready for a day at the beach and Bruce like he just got off work at the garage working on cars. Bruce has, by his own words, never held a job other then being a musician. Good choice Bruce, good choice!
When I think about the fact that Bruce wrote this song before he was 25 I shake my head in disbelief. For him to reimagine that same song like he did here defies description.
I wish I was in Jungleland but, instead, here I am in Covid world. I don't know how to live like this. Thank God for The Boss. I can lose myself in the brilliance of his music, the truth of his lyrics, the amazing performances that pull me in like a magnet. We all need Bruce to save us from the coming civil war. I LOVE you Bruce! I swear I'd RUN all night just to buy you some shoes and be safe in your arms. When you say not to cry now, I have no choice but to pull myself together and find the will to go on. There are no words to express what you mean to me. (Just to clarify, I am a woman. The account is under my husband's name)
So hot - and yet so cool. Is there anyone else out there who orchestrates and writes and choreographs these kinds of immersive musical performances anymore?
Very unique and unusual performance! It’s like a whole different song! Love it! It’s hard to believe actually! The closest thing to a Jazz thing they ever did! 🎵🎸💕
Just edges out ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out’ from the Live In New York City DVD as my favorite Bruce and E Street live performance ever. The tight knit, soulful brotherhood of the band and Big Man’s held note at the end, like all the infinities of human existence live within it... shit, if I somehow wasn’t tearing up before, I am now.
Best concert I've ever seen & heard. I wasn't there. I was 2 in 75. I smile, get teared up, and feel my skin prickle every time I watch this concert. I've managed to see him 3 times in st louis & it's the same. But there's something special about this song. I got the cd & i absolutely wore this song out. Luh ya bruce & the band. Make the world a better place to be.
Absolutely love this super cool version 👌😎😍 Wouldn't you just love to live inside an E Street song?? Well, actually, we do when we truly listen to their songs....we inhabit those brilliant words, those incredibly described scenarios --- we all are standing with Mary on her front porch, riding down Thunder Road....on the boardwalk, we live in the darkness on the edge of town....🌆
I actually prefer the slower live versions of The E Street Shuffle over the original version featured on The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle.
This upload is full of gems,Thank you Bruce.I saw you in Philly RIVER TOUR.To see Bruce and E Street band in 75 even on film is something incredibly special. The mix is solid too.Sounds soooo Good! Band looks great and are incredibly TIGHT !What a treat,to watch.
As Jon Stewart said , when Bob Dylan and James Brown ‘ had a baby ‘ , The Boss was born . And the definition of ‘authenticity in music’ was forever redefined . You made my heart beat Bruce . Thank-you .
Epic...Captivating...Classic...Chills......Lyrically Brilliant.........."The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle"....An album where Rock, Soul, Jazz, the Blues & Classical music, seem to effortlessly intersect, play, & find each other with ease......A Masterpiece....part of my DNA for decades.
Forever fan for you. Bruce Springsteen ❤❤❤❤❤
Smile & cry every time I listen to this. So sweet. Had it going on my phone when a beautiful nurse came to take my blood in the middle of the night. Sung to her. She's a killer, she's a murderous, she's the queen down on lover's lane.
The big man & his sax is very missed. Just listening to the music was so beautiful, emotionally raw, then came the boss open his mouth and the pleasure of just listening to E Street wasn't the same. Thank you Bruce for...
Grandissimo BRUCE!
We all know the story. Americans invented soul, blues and rock n roll but in the 60s the Brit’s took it over and made it their own. But there were 2 American artists who went to England and reclaimed rock n roll as an American art form based on their live work when they arrived in London. The first was in 1966 by Jimi Hendrix. The second time was this performance. No other American artist has gone to England and blew the Brits away like that and made them bow
Molt xula.... Inspira serenitat
I have a bootleg of the 1975 show at the Main Point. Bruce talks about how he met Clarence. Ending with and when we touched....Sparks light on E Street.
Can you imagine being the guy who shouted "TURN THE GUITAR ON!" at Bruce? I'm really curious if that guy's still around and what he thinks about that comment looking back, lol.
Huge Bruce fan here and I haven't watched the Odeon show in a while. I have to say, I find it a bit self-indulgent. Some of these songs are 15 minutes or more. I can say that the show was much tighter...much more refined by '78 when I first saw him perform. Not that they were short shows...they never were...but the endless instrumentals and slooow delivery of songs (more nightclub than rock performance) were mostly gone for the Darkness tour and certainly absent from the River tour. Just a thought as I watch this so many years later. Still the best live performer ever...hands down, no contest. Nothing like a Springsteen concert "back in the day."
Bom dia meu amor! Eu te amo meu amor, eu te amo meu namorado @springsteen ♥
I sat in the front row at Springsteen in St Louis on Big Man side. He winked at me and I winked back. He winked again and I looked over to my left and every girl in the front row was winking at him. LOVE ME SOME BIG MAN!
This is a story for the books..... Great man!
I yelled at Roy "Play it in C#!". That pissed him off.😂
The absolute best version of this song.
It's so different than the album version. So much soul and heart in it. Same goes for For You, the version they played on this tour is just so perfect. Why did those days go by?
I think you may just be right !! ☺️👌💯
The best. James Brown would be proud
TOOOO Good! Gives me Van Morrison vibes...love Bruce and the Boys❤❤❤
Never heard Steve play slide like that!
Little Steven is so criminally underrated. Check out his incredible album Born Again Savage, it's like a cross between Dylan, Bruce and Led Zeppelin.
47 years ago. Blows my mind. Still THE best live performance of a song I’ve ever heard, and I’m not a super bruce-fan either. Incredible !!
The one and only Clarence Clemons no one sounds like him miss you BIG MAN
Packed with East Coast muscle
Many of Clarences solos are easy to play note for note. But most of us just sound silly in comparison! So much feeling in each phrase. So much color in each note.
I like Jake...not close to Uncle Clarence in his prime but good in his own way now.
@@flarrfan Jake is no comparison to his uncle,Clarence has too much power
I can't get over this version! For the life of me!!! Play that slide all day Stevie!!!
1975. E Street on top of its game.
Young men working on a dream.
An American Dream.
He's been playing these songs almost fifty years. Saw him last week in Dublin, 3hrs nonstop, at 73 years of age. Everybody walked out on a high, almost a religious experience, my congratulations (and envy) to anyone who was in in the Hammersmith Odeon to see this in '75.
best song from this show by far…soulful guitar, great sax, impeccable piano…..and everything else folds into a great song…..maybe his best song ever….
One of the greatest rock & roll performances of all time tbh
Well that was certainly a different version of the song. Cool to see how it started and what an epic tune it turned into over the years.
Funny how the rest of the band is dressed to the nines, all sharp in suits and fedoras, while Max looks like he’s ready for a day at the beach and Bruce like he just got off work at the garage working on cars. The version that they play now is the one on TWTI, but still i agree.
Nice: I was at this gig!
I'm so jealous
25 years old......blows my mind!!! So much talent......"Saxaphone"🎷
East Coast Muscle 💪🏻🎷

Awesome version. Actually saw Gary go to mic to sing with Stevie. That's a first for me
So hot - and yet so cool. Is there anyone else out there who orchestrates and writes and choreographs these kinds of immersive musical performances anymore?
how epic is this. amazing how tight the E Street Band was.. even all those years ago. Amazing.
For whatever reason this album got me through a very rough period...in my life in 2011..crazy.
the whole concert is just brilliant!
Very unique and unusual performance! It’s like a whole different song! Love it! It’s hard to believe actually! The closest thing to a Jazz thing they ever did! 🎵🎸💕
Err. No. Check out any live version of Kitty’s Back. But this is a wonderful bluesy, folk-gospel mix. Comes together sweet and easy.
Meeting Across the River.

This is ...everything. I could listen over and over. Pure genius.
SUPERB version of this great old song!
I actually prefer the slower live versions of The E Street Shuffle over the original version featured on The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle.
My god that guitar. Sweet bliss… Along with bruce… Heavenly. Rock and Roll is fine art.
Bruce!!!! So freaking cool...."way down, on lovers lane"
Steve & that slide....
thank you, Boss, for everything ! ♡
This upload is full of gems,Thank you Bruce.I saw you in Philly

Absolutely love Bruce Springsteen! Fantastic song and love the saxophone!
As Jon Stewart said , when Bob Dylan and James Brown ‘ had a baby ‘ , The Boss was born . And the definition of ‘authenticity in music’ was forever redefined . You made my heart beat Bruce . Thank-you .

Miami Steve playing some awesome slide!
Saw them for 1st time last night.
The talent and charisma is incredible.
trumps needs to learn we dont tolerate disses of Bruce.
Go to the Jersey shore and diss Bruce. Nice strategy.
Play that slide Stevie!!! My god!!!
Blown away! "Saxophone" ..every note, verse, piano key, drum beat, guitar pick, all of it....in tune....all night long 🎶🎹🎼🎤🎸🎷

There's a party down at the corner of E street and 10th Ave!
Pure theater ❤️❤️❤️
Great job guys!!❤️❤️

Bruce at his peak was dangerous
I'm not a bot,sorry if I repeat myself,but this version is brilliant,fantastic🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Can you imagine being the guy who shouted "TURN THE GUITAR ON!" at Bruce? I'm really curious if that guy's still around and what he thinks about that comment looking back, lol.
Fantastique version , quelle présence !!!
If you think this version is good check out the Lincoln Center show in 1974. The stage collapsed. Great version of the shuffle. I was there.
thank you bruce
Wunderbar 💓🎶🎷🎸
Adoro esta voz rouca do Bruce.Beijoss

I remember having a shorter version from this but can't find it anymore.. who can help me out?
This video is the equivalent of Cocker at Woodstock, Van Morrison at the Last Waltz, Queen at Live Aid for Bruce fans.
If he would have only gone "Have I ever told you how I met this guy..."

Every bruce song has about 10 different versions this version of e street shuffle is so retro and magnificent
