How to step out of the comfort zone

  • Anxiety is triggered when we do anything outside of the comfort zone. I think 'familiar zone' would be a better name for it as often the comfort zone is not comfortable, it just means we know how things work in there.
    When we step outside the comfort zone, it means we therefore dont know how it works and this is what triggers anxiety because there is risk. The benefit however that when we move out of the comfort zone, it can grow, meaning we grow in skills and confidence.
    Here is a simple technique that can be used to help you be brave and take that step
