- This video describes the steps in cutting and polishing a faceted gemstone using a manually operated gem cutting machine called a faceting machine. A facetron machine is used and cut here in the USA. The material used is synthetic quartz.
Very very beautiful Emerald
Very informative for new cutters like myself. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks , im glad to hear these help new faceters.
Look so beautyful! Thank you very much!
Very nice. thankyou for taking the time.I'm pretty sure there's alot of work that go's into producing a clip.
Thank you, yes, it is some work setting up the camera, editing , etc.
It's so beautiful..
Great video. Thanks
Thank you.
I love the stepped facets on the back. I feel like they add to the depth of the color you get from the stone, though they don't usually improve the brilliance like other faceting styles. Regardless, they're just so lovely.
You probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any tips you can give me
@Keanu Jack Instablaster :)
Excellent video and fine result.
I agree with cutting synthetics when experimenting and first learning. My first eight cuts were done with synthetics... CZ, YAG, etc. I've even found a market for synthetic cuts... a local silversmith buys rectangular & square cuts to use when fashioning men's silver rings. I only charge him $35 to cut one if he furnishes the rough.
Like you, I'm a big fan of the 3K Lightning Lap for pre-polish.
I love your entire series... Thanks much!
Thanks john, i hesitate to spend the money on natural materials as i dont know if i will be able to sell them so i end up buying the cheap stuff or synthetic. Sounds like you got a good thing going with the jeweler. Im soon going to get a lightning lap 600 grit and see how i like it for normal cutting . I have recently bought a lightning lap 1200 and really like it .
Take care and happy faceting.
@@tennpikr74 On my last order from Lightning Lap, I ordered 1200 just to compliment the 3K for pre-polishing. I cut a lot of Oregon Sunstones, and the 1200 works as well as the 3K for pre-polish prior to Cerium Oxide polishing.
@@johncrumpley8702 yes i found that to be true on the softer stones. ive been using the topper version of the LL discs but i eventually will get the ones with the backing plate.
I really enjoyed watching this stone come to life. Try using a color like blue for your font, I could barely read your comments sometimes, "white on white". I did know they used acetone to make pickles though.
Thanks, yes, i have since learned what works best for the captioning. In my latest videos , i just narrate them. I do a lot of container repurposing around here ha ha.
Мне очень понравилось! Спасибо!!! Красота спасет мир!!!!
Nice
great practicing with synthetics! one can get their meet points perfect..came across some yag synthetic material people loved it because of the "blue-green" hue got ore money for those than the diopside"green" synthetics
yes its funny how pricing can work sometimes.
some will condemn my using glass but for just cutting for fun on odd designs or novelty stones i dont see any reason not too.
was it just my eye or did you have trouble lining up the crown facets at the corner of the table? @11:56 under the light, i thought i noticed some but may have been the light. Thanks for these videos by the way, love the content.
Linda pedra!
Obrigado
Show...belo trabalho...
Obrigado.
Thank you for doing this emerald cut. I am a beginner and have been wanting to try it. Can you tell me what lap you used prior to using the 3000 pre-polish. Great job on the final product. Did you put the stone in a ring or necklace?
hello, i used a 600 lap , then a 1200 lap then the 3000 lap. I havent yet put the stone into a piece of jewelry. thanks for your comments.
Coisa mais linda 😍
Obrigado.
I love Mt Olive pickles...that's the kind jar I'd use...by the way is that stone Chrome diopside?
They are good for sure, this material was a synthetic. Genuine chrome diopside is too rich for me in a size like this.
How much if just round the gemstone and polish? I mean no extra cuts
Actually i have never tried to make a sphere without facets. that would be done on a cabbing machine unless one had a sphere making machine.
how do you ensure that the gem is centered on the dop?
When i start out , the rough stone doesnt have to be perfectly centered .As i cut the stone it becomes centered and once i do the transfer to the 2nd dop stick using the fixture it stays centered so i can cut the top (crown) of the stone and it will be centered also.
Please tell me,what's that gem cutting machine name? Its have more options to cut..
This machine is a facetron . www.facetron.com
I need a device like this, where can I buy it?
Ultra tec faceting .com

How much it cost after faceting
Since it is a (man made) synthetic gemstone , i would value it around $50.00 USD.
@@tennpikr74 thanks for replying
I have a facetron too,,,why the blue tape on the quill?
Just simply because the metal reacts with me and turns my fingers black after just an hour or so. Are you completely satisfied with your machine? Do you have the dial depth indicator?
@@tennpikr74 yes I'm happy with it...have had numerous jewelers ask, when they dont know, who cut these...when I ask why they say they are very well cut...I'm a finish carpenter that did curved stairs for a living so I know tools
@@tennpikr74 my first stone on this machine and maybe 20th overall, after learning on a Lee antique machine, had me say wow after the cutlet was nearly perfect after just cutting 600 with the dial indicator
great, even with the dial indicator I still don't get a perfect culet sometimes . ill blame it on my eyes LOL.
@@tennpikr74 try this....cut to the zero as usual but then on the second time around on all the same facets cut to zero with almost no pressure and end the cut in the same place on the lap...if you notice that when you approach zero you can push hard and get there sooner ...that is the flex in the system and that the facetron is more of a soft stop at that zero
صديقي العزيز شكرا لك يوجد عندي حجر خام مولدفايت ممكن ارسل لك فيديو ممكن رقم الهاتف وشكرا
"Gemstone" word is mean that "james tone"...! m.m.a.rana
So why the price still high..becoz if china start making this sintactic stone..the price will be cheaper..and the value of stone will drop...
Do you need Ceylon natural gems?I'm doing that business.
