  • Well, I replaced the drive belt on this but the problem was not resolved. That meant I had to go back into this for additional repair. The lesson I learned is that I really need to be more thorough when working on this vintage equipment. Checking things more carefully will result in less time spent revisiting a previously repaired item. After this repair I found that this tape player works better than it ever has since I've owned it.

    I have one of these on the way to me and came across your video. Learning a lot from it. Do you know where I could find the owner and maintenance manual for this unit ? Thanks for sharing your video.

    Perhaps putting the lubricant
    in a syringe would help. You
    would use less and get a more
    precise application.

      Thank you for mentioning that. I don't think there was enough room between the brass collar and the motor body. I still think I should just have run the motor with a cloth around it before assembling it. However, I remembered that I actually have a couple of the needle tip oilers. Had forgotten I had them. They were in an old toll box I hadn't used in quite awhile.
