one nice thing about these tall tales - you don't have a random player ship firing at your ship during the middle of the tall tale
It is nice that we get to be secluded in our own little world for these Tall Tales. It helps become so much more immersed in them!

If you'll follow the cupboard, you'll see that Stan actually drowned. Cupboard starts sinking and disappear in the ocean. This is so cruel, why Rare making us to do such things, like stealing Pendragon's watch from Olivia or that?

In my case, Meathook just have 3 options, is there something that i have to triggere before? I replay my Tall tales cuz I forgot to tickle the Beast, and I open up his door before first checkpoint :(

You can stay in one spot and wait for the cooldown if you want. The cooldown is about 5 minutes.
You needed to warn us how scary The Beast was going to be.

Happy to help! You'll need to clear the fog again and then work on just the Trial of Thievery. Do the first part of Stan so then you can help Meathook catch The Beast. Good luck!

FYI When pushing Stan into the ocean follow through with it all the way, if you push it and then knock on the door of the cabinet it WILL soft lock that accomidation and you'll have to do the begininng again to get back there,
dont follow in my footsteps, just push the guy into the ocean, dont bother knocking again to see if there's any funny comments.
Make sure you're not wearing your skeleton curse...
There's no vanity chest at the circus tent, so you can't put on the costume, which means walking ALL the way back to your ship...
Fortunately some of the invisible barriers are gone so you can at least cannon yourself back over to the circus tent in one shot after you change.

Aye, the Pirate Emporium is incredible this month!
I got to the part at 21:46 and got a bug where i would walk up to Stan and nothing would happen. Couldn't interact with him either. I tried leaving the area and coming back, and even drowning myself didn't fix it
I had finished the tall tale to the defeating ribbsy part and thought ill complete the rest tomorrow, now when i resume the tall tale, after bob and lechuck speak their lines, my ship gets teleported to the monkey island area as usual, but my screen is completely greyish. I can hear my ship and the music but can't see anything. I couldnt find anything online so im just gonna leave this comment here
is There any Way to do the "The Beast Whisperer" Commendation afterwards? my mates skipped it accidently or do i have to replay the whole Tall Tale?

No, unfortunately. Once you put the The Beast in its cage it's locked away. Luckily, you only need to work on Stan's portion of the Tall Tale after you clear the fog.

I missed the captain smirk interior memoir spot and stantastic voyage, is there any way to get them without restarting the whole tale?
No, not that we know of. You’ll have to start it up again and work towards those two in particular.
@@RareThief it's frustrating that you have to follow a guide on your first playthrough if you want all the commendations in one run, rather than being able to wait until just before the end and back tracking, especially since I have on more than 1 occasion been kicked off for inactivity for looking at a guide (why is that a thing on these single-player-friendly tall tales anyway?)
What's so funny is I think Stan stealed the black pearl from Jack Sparrow.
Looks like he will be coming back for his ship.
How do you get a faster time for the circus stunt? Also any advice is appreciated.
Make sure you have the cannon aligned before you start your run. Also, you can save a lot of time between the third bell and the cannon. Try to interact with the zipline from further away than you think you can. You should be able to skip a whole platform by grabbing onto the zipline sooner.
i know im really late, but the game wont let me present my sword at captain smirks house i left on my first try in the house but now i cant get back in, i left because i hadnt met the ghost pirate yet, i couldnt give responses, he would only tell me to block with my sword for infinity and he locked the door behind me. can i please get an answer?
i found out its because it saved at the start of the circus...
I dont know what is wrong but i cant push stan into the water, is there something specific i need to do after locking him in?
Hmm…once you lock him in you should be able to interact with the side after he realizes he’s locked in.

DO NOT attempt to push stan into the water while his dialogue is still going on. I did it, the tall tale bugged out and I didnt get the commandation.i tried restarting with the checkpoint but now the thing and stan are not there at all. guess i have to start all over again
Would I be able to just go to where the treasure huntery statue is if I already know it? Or do I have to go through all that again?
You can use a Checkpoint so you don't have to do it again. Have you used those before?
@@RareThief I meant on repeat playthroughs. If I go straight to the statue after clearing the fog, will I be able to dig it up?

Fun tall tale for sure. Loved this one other than the insult and retort part which my group wasn't too thrilled about. Best part was the time trial. Broke the 18 second mark !

The fourth option for meathook after stand first section isn’t there! Any ideas why?
Go ask stan about who he sold the ghost ship to
Talk to Stan’s fourth option twice. He will tell you Meathook owns the ship
You need to ask Stan the fourth dialogue option twice. Once about pricing and once about who owns The Headless Monkey. Once you find out who owns the ship, you can ask Meathook about it.
Make sure to sit on the 9th memoir spot in the sword dudes hut before leaving it, the door locks after and i could not get it.
i cant even speak with Stan, he is just looking at me, but i've already done the other 2 quest and I even restarted the game and sat down on that barrel and ive aleady picked up the book next to him. What should I do? Start the whole thing over?
Did you interact with all four ship signs to get him to talk to you already?

When me and my cousin finished the quest we went back home and we didn’t get a reward. Do we have to go to a specific place to claim it or? We were confused and we turned the game off
That's odd. You should automatically unlock it when you travel back through the portal.

For the stantastic voyage DO NOT KNOCK this will make it not possible to push him off the ledge.
Is that what is tripping some pirates up? When do you get that option? If you try to interact with it from the front after you lock him in? We've only ever tried interacting from the side right away.
i knocked and it worked still
Yeah I knocked as I was moving him and now there is no prompt to push him over the edge. He’s sat right there and I can’t tip him over
so what do i do i cant push him off

I seem to always get the insult wrong against the ghosts. I don't know why. Can you perhaps give me some tips?
If you see a notification saying you learned an Insult, you won't know the Retort just yet so it's okay if you get it wrong. If you have learned the Retort, you can reference the description in this video or this article to find the matching Insult/Retort pair: rarethief.com/sea-of-thieves-insult-sword-fighting-insults-and-retorts/ If you make an Insult and lose that is okay because you are learning the Retort. You need to learn them all to make progress :)

How do I restart the routine on the circus
Ring the starting Circus Bell again.
completed everything up until you have to return to Corina for the potion. She only asks if I have any news... finally gave up and left. Now it says I have no checkpoints... I was basically done. :(
I ended up having to log off during the retorts and insults section. I logged back in later and voted on the tall tale checkpoint that was in my inventory. After the tall tale started, it added the correct sword to my inventory and allowed me to select and use it, but when i go knock on the door, it does not prompt me to show the sword to the guy. Anyone know what I can do? Do not want to restart.
Hmm…you should be able to at least talk to Smirk. You do need to get the Pieces o’ Eight again though.
In case anyone with the same problem finds this comment, the solution is to do the circus section again for some reason.
My game kept glitching it wouldn't let me pet the bird or push him in the water

Doing the Trial of the Sword. When I was doing the insults, my game crashed. Came back and i cannot get the lanterns to trigger. I cannot get the last insult. Am I missing something?
You rejoined or used a Checkpoint?

You probably need to do the Insult Sword Fighting tutorial again. There’s no Checkpoint after the tutorial. Once you meet with Captain Smirk again, you can trigger the lanterns.

They are at Stan's Previously Owned Vessels but you don't actually unlock/earn them. It's part of Stan's gimmick and a joke.

I cant get past the sword part where you block is there something youre suppose to say or what
Just make sure you block all three swings. You should only have to do that twice before Smirk teaches you an insult.

You asked Stan about the cheapest options AND who owns The Headless Monkey? You need to ask choose two different dialogue options back to back.

@@RareThief yes i read all for signs and spoke to him, its no longer an option to ask about the ships so its confirmed ive done it. I had to start the tall tale again... just doesnt move past that option so i couldn't speak to meathead. Great guide as always though 👍4

I had the same thing happen. I just sank my ship then the portal spawned
@@lazychaos2707 had to play through it again with a friend anyways. I’ll keep that in mind though if the game bugs and the portal is not there for whatever reason.
Ps5 user here with using beta and it doesnt do this on my screen after they talk nothing happens

I died and the game bugged, i couldnt move or do anything, even press to leave the game was unabled.

lost the battle against the ghost pirate because i didnt have the correct dialog, now i cant even duel anyone and i cant learn anymore insults
None of the other fighting spots around the island work for you? There is a cooldown of about five minutes for each spot.
I was just about complete the tall tale, just about to sail back through the Sea of The Damned to get back to the Sea of Thieves World, but I picked up my Captain's logbook and then the 'server merge' message appeared, so did the 'Sailing the seas with all players' message in the corner, and the green glowing portal closed right before i could sail into it... and my progress is partially gone, I think. I tried to load my checkpoint on the tall tale, and the book for it had all of my progress... and im pretty sure i have all of the commendation progress for it... but when I resumed it, it gave me the same book (with all my progress) but now the tall tale itself is from the very begining of it and i spent quite a few hours playing this. I send a support ticket request to Rare on the SoT website, and ive never had to do so before, but i really hope i can get all my progress back and have it all completed. Such a dumb bug... i doubt im the only one who's probably experienced this though. Does anyone know how fast Rare will hopefully get back to me to help? I sent them a decent lengthy explanation of the problem.
dude rare isnt going to restore your progress for you alone. do you know how many people have to restart tall tales due to bugs? rare will not help.

Just had this happen except there was no server change notice or anything, the portal just isn’t there I’m sure I’ll have to restart from the beginning. These tall tale bugs are a huge pain.
I don’t bother doing tall tales I follow step by step and still get it wrong and don’t get any achievements

I was only able to push him once. After that the prompt doesn’t show up. Also, there is a prompt after the first shove knocking on the doors. I don’t know if this is why I couldn’t push him into the water or not. 😅
