Sounds like same set up you'd use for other bass as well. I've learned big swim jig with a large fluke gets striper as well as large spoon casting if you want to get your spoon out far. If striper are close a large flutter spoon works great too
Awesome! Thank you for sharing all the tips.
Glad to help!
That sunburn proves you're really trying hard out there. Respect 🙏 to all fishermen out there that chase 🐟
Can't catch fish from the couch!
I cant wait for spring time bass fishing. Thanks for the tips, I'm new to stripers.
Striper fishing is great all year, right now they're going off on topwater while it's cold!
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been trying to learn how to fish striper on Texoma. I hadn’t had much success and hope to improve so thanks for the tips!
You're welcome! Arm yourself and keep getting out on the water, it will pay off
Great advice. Thanks for sharing 👍

@@LakeHubTV Thank you!
Great video buddy 👍 lots of info 😉🤙🎣
Thanks!
Perfect for a gift for somebody that loves fishing for bass
It sure is!
We are allowed two hooks per line in Nevada. Obviously including umbrella rigs. Your spot on with the lure choices for lake fishing striper. You’d do well out here at lake mead. Tight lines brother
Lake Mead is awesome!! Been a while. Houseboat it and have a whole cove to yourself for a week, deep cool clear water and warm dry desert air. Huge lake, great fishing, hard to beat!
Very helpful thanks!
Glad to help!
good video straight to the point
Thanks!
Thanks bud! Gonna try for striper for the first time. Delaware River by Philadelphia on the Jersey side.
Good luck!
Thank you for the suggestions. Would any of these work from the bank at lake texoma? I don’t have a boat and haven’t caught anything from this place…
Thanks brotha for this video looking forward to catch some Striper Bass Here In My local Waters
Tight lines!!
Got skunked today at Texoma. Wish I saw this video before I wen. Thank you
Skunks happen, but Texoma is fertile ground! Gear up and get back out there Chuck
Great stuff! I've only fished for stripers for about 1 year-round season but I love the fight that they give and catching them is always a plus. That said, in my limited year experience, I've only caught stripers on 2 lures: a hair jig and a 3/0 hook with a shad profile soft plastic (Z-Man Razor shad).
Good tips! Will need to add that to the arsenal
I have an umbrella style lure and I caught striper with it . They really do work if you're after a stripe bass
Nice!
*Fun little bait great for ponds. This thing casts really well for its size, I was surprised. Good for when you need to downsize and gets smaller fish to commit*
For sure!
I'm surprised that you don't use bucktail for deep jigging or slow trolling. Bucktails are my go too lure. Sure people can catch on top water but 80% of the big ones are in 15 to 30 feet during hot weather feeding. I have caught strippers all day long in all kinds of conditions. The only thing I changed was the weight of my bucktail. Going from 3/8 to 1 oz pending on current and depths I'm marking. I will use my trolling motor at 1/2 to 1 mph if I have more than 1 rod in or I will do a combination of anchoring and jig or cast and sometimes both. I have never come home without at least 4-6 nice strippers, if they are under 24 inches I release them for another day, with 1 note: if they are been pulled up from 30 plus feet I keep them because they will more than likely die once they hit hot water temps of 85 or better. They usually have a very difficult time getting back down and go into shock. I'm not saying all will die but 50% chance that it will die. I'm specifically talking about lake strippers where O2 in hot water is very low.
For sure!
Does your wife know that you are interacting with that many strippers?

My favorite Lake Texoma Striper lures are Alabama rigs, Heddon Super Spook, P Line slabs.
good stuff!
It's top water time on Texoma lake wide, especially around the islands, early morning late evening
For sure! We have a video coming up soon where we're fishing the islands mid day catching striper (but chasing sandies!)
Here's the follow up - midday fishing around the islands on Texoma czcams.com/video/fPXaUmhriGc/video.html
Out here in New england we catch stripers ranging from schooling to big boys ranging to 30 to 70 lbs class you need the big guns out.big Danny's and swimming shads for top water.bottom fishing we use white bucktails white,or green work best.over all nothing bets tube and worm. At 2 miles and hour.where your at try mr twister 3 inch white.thats my go to.alway have a plug reddy.fish on
good stuff!
People sleep on those Choppo baits! Good stuff!
Thanks Joey!
When is the best time to use the tube and worm method? Thank you, great vid.
Great tactic on the coast in spring time, when the striper are schooling close to shore!
Do you troll with the umbrella rig? Going to be out on texhoma in a few weeks and hoping to really get into some good fishing!
I've trolled with the umbrella rig and casted it. I've caught fish both ways. Caught a nice one yesterday at about 20'
Does frozen anchovies work with live bait rig in Texoma?
The more lively the bait, the better your chances. Dead bait is good for catfish off the bottom but striper want to see it move
I can’t find them on Amazon can you show me where to find them
Have you seen the links in my description? If they don't work I will fix.
I have been fishing for stripers almost my whole life in The San Francisco Bay. Nothing beats Pearl White Hair Raisers.
You have link for those?, I've been trying to fish more with swim baits but no luck in the bay
Nice tip!
Striper is great on the plate.
We have a video for that! czcams.com/video/aSaol5tv5sY/video.html
El Choppo all day!
I troll a umbrella rig w lead core line 50 yards plus 10 of 25 lb w 20 lb leader 4-6’ bam
nice!
Out here in Cali walk the dog baits work better than prop baits . Some reason they don’t respond so good to ploppers
I haven't used the Walk the Dog Topwater lures yet for Striper. I will try next time, which ones do you recommend? Also I've caught my largest fish to date on the topwater in the video.
@@LakeHubTV white and red cordell popper, and reactions innovations vixen in bone color.go big 5” vixen got me 16” striper 😜
Also out here in NorCal in the Sacramento river/American River they use jerk baits like SP Minnow (diving jerkbaits, reel and twitch a couple times) in 120 and 168 size or 4.5 inch to 6 inch, bone white is hot now. Many guys change the hooks to stronger ones or single 2/0 hook, something like that. If there's 3 hooks on it some guys eliminate the middle hook too. When stripers are spread out and you need to cover the water quickly or you have a nice windy day that’s blowing bait against the points, jerkbaits are very effective. Probably one of the most effective (and pricey) is the MegaBass Ito Vision 110. At roughly $25, they work well! I like the Elegy Bone, French Pearl and Sexy Shad color patterns for the Delta and rivers.
A step down but still deadly is the Luckycraft Pointer 110 in American Shad finish at about $12-13.
The issue with jerkbaits for stripers is they usually come with light wire bass hooks that quickly get destroyed by stripers. So, I replace all mine with either No. 2 or No. 4 KVD Triple Grips. The trick here is find a hook that is stronger but won’t affect the action of the lure. I’d like to go with 3X or 4X strong models, but the neutral buoyancy of the lure would be compromised. The KVD hook seems to be a happy medium. They will still get beaten up by stripers eventually but they definitely last longer than the stock models do.
What about bank fishing? What do I need?
Number one, you need to find a spot to fish that can access DEEP water as close as possible. That's half the battle.
If there's visible topwater activity, then the Choppo (or Whopper Plopper) are the ticket.
If you don't see topwater, then you're going to have to get deep and find where they're at in the water column. You can use live bait (watch this video czcams.com/video/0-YL2GtNoq4/video.html), or go with larger, lighter colored / shad patterened swimbaits and diving crank baits. Longer rather than fatter, similar to the Choppo's.
i’ve tried the choppo lure on the bank, no luck, any tips ?
That's a great lure from shore if you have a school of striper within reach that are slapping the surface. Throw it right into the mayhem. But if there isn't any topwater action, then you need to go deep - large lighter colored swimbaits and deep-diving long silvery crankbaits
@@LakeHubTV I've caught many stripers in Texoma with live minnows bait from the bank, haven't gotten any luck with any lure yet.
Tip, only use top water lures when you see top water action/feeding which only last about a hour in morning, afternoon and evening feeding which most bank fishermen can't reach unless your fishing a point with a steep drop from the bank, example 15 -30 feet drop that you can cast into.
basically a carolina rig but with lots of weight!!!
you got it
heard umbrella rig is illegal?
In some states it is illegal and in almost all formal Bass Tournaments it’s illegal. But Texas it’s legal
Be sure to check your local regulations, it changes from state to state
Damn he got some bad sun burn
That's just how Chris looks all the time! Ha
Ira
I have followed the tips in this video verbatim 4 trips in a row. Fishing from 5:00a-1:00p each time. Same rigs you showed. I’ve caught one fish, a freshwater drum. Hardly any other bites. I’ve got to be the worst fisherman on the planet.
Are you fishing from boat or shore? The hotter it gets, the harder striper fishing is. We've been hearing they're in about 30' of water lately
@@LakeHubTV Boat. Update: last two trips we have caught a total of 14. Most in the 23”-26” range. They have been deep, 30’-40’ mostly and bite hard for about an hour, 7a-8a. After that, we haven’t had much success.
Caught my first one last weekend. It was on a A-Rig and it was a little over 7lbs.
Solid!!
