    • @evanevans670
      @evanevans670 Před 3 lety +3

      You got that right. We had a John Deere tech man come out and he adjusted that disc every which way he could and it wouldn’t level. He finally gave up. About the only thing you could say good about it was it would cut down till it hit the spools. Now if you wanted to make a water way just a make couple of passes on top of each other and you would have one. It would ruin a field if you didn’t split the middles on the second pass. But it would cut!!!😂

Irregardless, I wish farming and big iron still looked like this today. I’d rather see that guy disking running corner to corner across that field. I present have a 550, a 770 that has been in the family since new in 1958, and an 1850 diesel. I also have a 1946 Ford 2N that was my maternal grandfather's. I sold it once but it got homesick and came back. Olivers are the best! Too bad they couldn't really compete with the red brand and the other green machines!

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  Před 3 lety

      Oliver built good tractors and machinery. Where I grew up Oliver was the number one brand into the 1960’s. I grew up seeing Oliver tractors, tillage, planters, hay equipment and combined. Unfortunately Oliver never grew the dealer network IH and Deere had. By the 1970’s the Oliver factories were outdated and were not producing the same quality.

    • @davidbriggs1649
      @davidbriggs1649 Před 2 lety

      A John Deere dealer convinced dad that a 4440 with their hydraulic front wheel assist could replace the 2255. Being a Deere, the cab was really nice[the Oliver didn't have air conditioning, making the cab very uncomfortable in the summer], the Powershift was much nicer than the Oliver setup, but when it came time to work, the 4440 failed miserably. Great 466 engine, great transmission, but hydraulic assist couldn't match 4-wheel drive. After only one season, we tried out a few 4-wheel drive's, Duetz DX160, White 2-135 and 2-155. The Duetz had been set-up at the dealer to 185 hp, and it just outshone the Whites. In retrospect, I wish we'd gone with 2-155, but we went with the Duetz. Amazing tractor in some respects, it was behind American tractors in other areas. Still amazed at 4 gph fuel consumption chopping corn silage in the rolling foothills of south central NY! Never saw anything close to that.

    Very similar look to my Allis 2500 20' center fold disk. My disk does a real nice job.

    On our farm, we had a 1900 with front axle assist and a 2155 that was yellow under the green paint. You could see the MM under the Oliver emblem on the steering wheel. The supercharger whine went right through the hearing protection.

      Both of those are rare and neat tractors. Any idea where they wound up?

      Dad sold them after he retired and sold most of the ground. I had moved away and wasn't around when it happened. The only big tractor we still have is a Minneapolis Moline Vista G1000 my brother uses to mow the barn lots.

    Sometime back your video feature didnt relate to the cover photos but I haven't forgotten the anomaly.
    An articulated Blue (Ford) with 5 wheels on each corner.
    My question then went unanswered, so, thought it'd be worth asking again. Where was that n how come we never got to see it in motion. I thought with that much pneumatic rubber it might float?
    Always enjoy your presentations, and appreciate your efforts. You must really enjoy doing it.
    Thanks ever so much.

      That couldn’t have been this channel. That sound like a photoshop from some European or Turkish channel that has a sketchy online Merch store attached and plays crappy electronic music through the video

    I used to run an 1855 Oliver. It always felt like it had way more power than it was rated at.

    When I was a kid my dad had a 2255, a 2-105 white, and a 1655 Oliver. I learned to plow on these. We had a good dealer in our area up till mid 80s. Most big tractors were either whites/Oliver, and Massey Ferguson. John Deere really took hold, after mid eighties. Im in peanut country in Jackson county, Fl..border SW Ga, and SE Alabama.. I miss em. Fine tractors. I just dont know what happened to em. Shame

    One of the stupidest moves in corporate America was to drop Oliver name in favor of White brand name. OLIVER was well established in the farming industry. Second was when Deutz tried to re-brand to Deutz-Allis they should have left Allis-Chalmers name alone and maybe just put the KHD emblem on the grill.
