    Truly great service to Xvive owners. I was so frustrated with newly bought Xvive U2 signal dropping out after 2 hours. Then I observed that when connected to charger I would be fine.
    This video saved my wireless receiver... I was going to buy something else..
    After replacing battery, per video instructions, I am now getting 6 hours+ play time ...
    Thank you, thank you..

    Thank you for this, my friend!
    I have been having trouble with bad connections in the transmitters, probably from inserting and removing them a lot from my guitars. I could not figure out how to fix the problem until I watched you take the collar off of the shaft. Then I could see the bad connection, solder it, and put it back together.
    I thought I was going to have to throw them away (I had two bad ones).
    You saved me a lot of money...thank you!
    :)

    Thank you very much for the instructions. My receiver was shutting down after 1 hour of use and now I installed a bigger battery. I managed to do everything without a problem. For those who intend to do this procedure, it is easy but really needs patience. My tip for removing glue from the battery is to use a guitar pick.

      I bought the same battery on your recommendation, works fine, buuuuut, the light never turns off after charging (even after 8 hours) and when it started flashing after a few minutes of usage, I thought it was not holding charge and flat already, but the unit seems to work for ages while flashing. Could the battery be a different capacity and is triggering the “low battery” warning immediately?

    So, I finally got around to doing this. I had 2 Xvive systems where the receiver wouldn't last more than 10 minutes. So, I took the battery out of one transmitter and put it in the receiver. I was lucky as both sets had plugs for the batteries so no soldering.
    Also, as far as removing the battery with that glue, a piece of fishing line behind it working back and forth worked like a charm (if you've ever debadged a car, you know what I'm talking about). I did remove the circuitboard to do this as there was enough blank board on the bottom to get it in a vice to hold it steady.
    So, I made one more good set out of a 2 bad ones. In probably less than 20 minutes. I don't know how long it will last, but I'll be sure to report back.
    Also, both receiver batteries that were dead were puffy.. not a good sign.
    I had also tried draining them multiple times, freezing them, etc.. nothing worked. I am confident if I can find replacement batteries I could do it again in a few minutes.
    Thanks for the video!

    Thanks Kevin. As a diy-er you've probably considered cracking into you a cell phone to make a repair....There is a whole world of repair kits with pry tools are made of varying hardnesses of plastic, including guitar picks that are great for opening cases and protecting cases + delicate electronics inside. At 9:13 you even mention hard plastic object... Try a PICK!! Also at 9:15 that glue a heat activated goop. If you have a sample / old wrecked transmitter you might try a heat gun on it and post the results in a Part II to this vid.

      likey the batteries need to be replaced even a weak battery will take a full charge so it says but it really is not fully charged after 4 years it is time for new batteries for sure , how ever you can try a test and go away from the home bring a mini amp with you if you have one other wise just the units and a guitar and plug the transmitter into the guitar and turn on both and see if it still happens when your not at home or near to many people .. my boss system is getting interfeared with at home right now we have fiquired its the new interenet system we have becuase this never happen untill then and one iam at our chuch or any where else they hold a solid connection, the last set of Xvives I had also would not hold a connection at home only at the church now we do have internet at church and other guitar gear and mic gear thats all wireless and none of that stuff interfears so its something to do with out current interent provider here at home which is totally different then our chuch internet , now that being said weak batteries can also do the same thing to you, so its one or the other so you need away from home and away from alot of people testing to be sure what it is if it does it at home and ever where else then it likey is the batterys,, there is also one othert possibility if you droped them one to many times that can also screw them up..

    I just changed the battery in my XVive U2 transmitter. It was no problem at all. I could only find the battery in China, so the shipping took a little longer, so I bought 5 of these batteries for $14.99. I bought 3.7V 700mAh 802535 Li Polymer Rechargeable Batteries and they fit and work perfectly. I simply cut the wires close to the old battery and soldered the new battery wires to the old wires and plugged it in. I figured I can store the other 4 batteries and be prepared the next time I need one. I did learn that you shouldn't run Lipo batteries completely dead, but charge them while they still have juice left over. Just do a gig, and charge them up again. Don't run them until they are dead, or you'll shorten the life of the batteries. Just my 2 cents. I never have any issues with the Xvive U2 wireless unit performance, just a dead battery of my own doing.

      i run the sinlge cell lipos dead ones a month and i get longer live that way you just dont leave them dead for long so once they are dead i leave them 1 hour then charge them even lipo batteries can hold a memory and the only way to clear them is to run them till they are dead once in awhile i do the same with my phone as well

  • @Cali559
    @Cali559 Před 5 lety +1

    I installed the 3.7V 700mAh 802535 Li Polymer Rechargeable Batteries in both units now. The receiver battery began to act up, just like the transmitter battery had done before. Charged up they would go into "low battery blink mode" and die within an hour or two. With both new batteries installed, I charged up the units, then turned them on and let them stay on... for like 8 hours and they never went into "low battery blink mode". 8 hours! So, perhaps when you look for new batteries, and you will have to at some time, find the 802535 3.7V 700mAh if you can. I keep them at storage voltage, controlled temperature, so I should be good for a year or two of storage. I don't know if they would hold up for 8 hours while playing, but 8 hours is a long time even just turned on and hanging out in my music room. I don't know how long they would have actually stayed on, if I left them alone for a longer time. I had to go to bed!

    • @KevinMillard68
      @KevinMillard68  Před 5 lety

      you have to fully change them and store them that way when not in use, there is no way toput them into a storage mode once installed into the units , you got 8 hours of no use run time thats different then auctal run time doing their job but i would make a test to see what the playing run time is for sure

    • @Cali559
      @Cali559 Před 5 lety

      @@KevinMillard68 I'm not talking about storage of the batteries in the units, I'm referring to the extra batteries I purchased. And yes, I know how to charge and store Lipo batteries. I'm fully aware that there could be a difference between the units simply turned on, and how they might perform while playing, but I don't think I'll be playing my guitar for hours and hours just to see how long they last. LOL It was just an observation, since the normal batteries would have died out before 8 hours, simply sitting there turned on. I won't be doing a play test for hours and hours, and I don't think anyone else will either, unless you fancy doing it yourself... Pick up some 700mAh batteries and let me know how it goes! For me, the 4 - 5 hours I normally perform, including sound check, brief rehearsal, playing, break time and playing again, I'm pretty sure I can simply leave the units on for the entire process and not run into a low battery situation. I used to turn them off after sound check, rehearsal, then turn them on for the first set, off again until the second set. Problem arises when I forgot to turn them back on a time or two. Kinda frustrating to start the set and notice my guitar was silent! Bend down, turn on the receiver, turn on the transmitter and I was good to go, all though a little embarrassed. LOL

    Hi, Kevys RC & Music,,, very good video that is helpfull and well demonstrated.A piece of advice though...........I have been an electronics engineer for many years.It is NOT recommended to remove what you referred to as a "Ground tap wire".
    You were most likely correct in your 2nd description of "Ground shield".
    Many GHz transmission and reception circuits require protection from themselves and other external sources.
    That shield is "most likely" there to shield OTHER circuits in this device from the transmission/reception of the GHz frequencies,,, or to protect certain circuits from ambient frequencies coming from external sources.
    I would replace that piece back into the unit and for those that watch this video, I recommend you not remove it.Again,,, nice job on your video.

    Thanks for the video. I was hesitant to buy these before knowing the batter can be replaced. One question. Why not find some mini connectors for the battery wires (such as a screw down terminal block)? Unless there's no room for this, it seems like this would save on the solder work for future battery changes. Thanks!

    Thank you for posting this. I just received a different brand but they have the same profile as yours. I wouldn’t be surprised if all these things are made in the same factory. They are defective but are sending a new set and told me to keep the old. It charges and pairs fine but there are random fluctuations with the sound. My only hope is to take them apart and see if there is an obvious abnormality. Could that third wire be an antenna? I was hoping there might be a trim pot on the board, but I guess not.

    I changed the batteries in my Xvive with 700ma batteries. Note that the JST connectors on almost all the batteries you can buy have a connector that's too big to fit into the Xvive's JST slot. (Xvive wouldn't sell me replacement batteries). After putting in the new batteries splicing them to smaller JST connectors, the units work, but the red "on" indicator light does not come on when the receiver is turned on. It comes on if the receiver is charging (so the light itself isn't broken), but it doesn't turn on when the unit is on. The red light works fine on the transmitter. Any idea what could be causing this problem or how to fix it?

      @@KevinMillard68 Thanks for the reply. Before I changed the batteries, the red light would be on when the receiver was on. The blue light is on when it's linked to the transmitter. If I turn the transmitter off, there are no lights illuminated on the receiver, so you can't tell it's on. So if you forget to shut it off you wouldn't know it was still on without the red light on. Mine wasn't like that before (if I forgot to turn it off, the red light on the receiver would be lit to remind me). There'll also be no flashing low battery warning light if the red light isn't on. Is that how all your Xvives work? You have no indication the receiver is on when it's not linked to the transmitter?

    Hi Kevy, you're a brave man undertaking that :-) Thanks so much for the informative "how to" guide, very useful. I've got a unit that is "going off the boil", batterywise, and I'm keen to swap out my batteries too. With a little googling I've found a replacement but I'm not sure of the battery form factor. Could you please measure your battery for me.
    Also, the ground plane should probably be left intact as my guess is that it is there to reduce radio frequency interference. I think you'll find that a clever little engineer spent a bit of time designing that and would be horrified to hear you say it is serving no purpose and throwing it out :-)
    Thirdly, clearly your "broken" unit still operates. Have you considered 3d printing the broken part? I've had good success with this, although I'm an electronics engineer and have all the CAD software I need to achieve a result, it costs nothing in the grand scheme of things to have a tiny part made :-)

    I bought the 700 mHz Chinese Guitar Wireless System. After a year, & just in the last day or two, they started to go flakey. Dropping signal, sometimes the power LED indicates as lit up that it has adequate power. Not sure whether it's the TX or RX unit though, although. Could be a bad battery or the actual PCB circuitry ? With those, it's just cheaper to have a spare handy or just buy another & recycle them.

      batterys do go bad

    • @jimcamp2423
      @jimcamp2423 Před 4 lety

      @@KevinMillard68 Just dismantled the RX unit. Since the TX seems to be signalling the RX and it intermittently functions properly, then it cuts out is the reason why I chose to dismantle the RX unit. Anyway, the battery markings are indicated, the + & - leads are marked, PN I is ZY 702535 and specs are 3.7V 600 mAh & last is the 2019/04/24 date stamp. DC voltage read is 4.05V after a full charge. I'm certain the RX unit is defective rather than a bad battery with that reading.
      During operation, it seems to drift thru the channels for reception trying to lock on to the TX signal. Regardless of the systems 4 channels it makes no difference what channel I select on the TX or RX units, it's still the same intermittent play & cut out. It was fun to take it apart and see the guts. I first thought it may have been broadcast interference, but I haven't introduced anything operating in the frequency range that would disrupt or even outright take that frequency like a 2.4/5 Ghz computer router and wifi would. No microwave interference either, since the 700-730 Mhz frequency is what operates in that range.
      The units were always a little hissy & loud regardless of where I played. I was hoping there was a tuner/trim adjustment inside that might eliminate that noise, similar to a AM/FM radio tuner trying to lock onto a bandwidth frequency with a weaker & more distant transmitter & radio signal. I need to remove the PCB to see if that's the case for adjusting the unit ? If there is adjusting screw, I can use a pedal amp to tweak that. I'll take photos and probably find a forum or put them on Facebook or Google Images so that someone else can assess whether a $ 20 Chinese wireless is even worth piddling with. Not sure it's a matter of getting what you paid for with such a simple device on a wafer of a PCB. Hunting down new guts appears to be a waste of time as would a battery swap. A battery is anywhere from $ 2-7.50 on line, but then you have to consider S&H and the labor involved.
      Anyway, back to learning more about these things.

    • @jimcamp2423
      @jimcamp2423 Před 4 lety

      Well, I did get the RX working again, it's a defective power switch and PCB mounting issue. Turning the power switch on & off has done something to the solder connection of the switch & PCB trace of the board itself where the switch is located . My permanent solution is to order & replace with a new RX unit. The temporary solution was to leave the RX unit in the "always" on position and charge it constantly. It's not really gig-able & stage reliable for sure at this point in the repair process. The warranty on similar A8 GWS is 6 months, 30 day returns and this GWS is a year old at this point, so they know they don't last very long anyway, especially when they sell replacement units for either the TX or RX. The way I have it temporarily operating, it's just a matter of time before the TX has an issue with the on/off power switch just the same ? But I can switch around the other 3 channels (4 channels in total) with either the TX or RX, as it works on all channels properly beyond the RX turning on & off properly. Definitely order another complete set and use the bad unit & set for parts or recycle it as garbage. They do have good & strong batteries in that regard. The PCB is tiny, pretty complex for what looks like inexpensive SMT parts. I doubt I can solder much more than a battery & wires, so the parts are really beyond cherry picking as a donor GWS.

    At 10:30 you say "more hassle than it's worth". Right. Given our time value of money, and the years this cheezy little thing gave me service, I'd say you're right on that part. And I can blow up my shop if I poke it wrong? Ok, cool. So, in my infinite wisdom, being up there in years, with the patience of a hummingbird, I say smash that little phucker with a hammer, enjoy that emotional release of potential frustration and move on. Buy a better unit.
    Unfortunately I think this was meant to be another throw away product, which sucks... BUT - I commend you guys for giving this a rip. Maybe you could start a little custom repair business, that would clear almost $39 a day doing several of these an hour. Kyool. But I'm gonna go clear downed power lines for $900 an hour and probably have a little better risk/reward. AGAIN - you're a friggin stud for doing this work, but as you say, it's not your first rodeo, but it never will be mine. Thanks for the content - Best of luck to all of you who go down this avenue. Put a value on your time... Thanks Kevy, and Cheers to y'all!

I dont even fix alot my own stuff anymore i just get extended coverage for as long as i can this way i can go and do things that are more fun to fix or just have fun in life.
