Had this bike for a few months now. Such a awesome review of it!!!!!! i am pretty much the same weight but a bit shorter 6'. quiet aggressive rider. Had a issue with knocking it the fork after 1 month of riding. got the rear tyre upgraded to a gravity casing before it left the shop, so no issues there. good what you said abt the climbing, biggest concern for me abt buying the bike. my dealer assured me it wasnt as bad as some reviews were making out, and it definitely isnt. Such a awesome bike for the money!

This bike is super fun! I put a MRP progressive coil on mine because I shuttle it on technical trails often! So playful and capable! Just not as fast as the longer chainstay bikes on DH. But if your not going for top speed and just want rowdy good times on gnarly trails- this bike is for you.

I've had this bike for a year. Honestly been great. Sliced the rear tire after a week so upgraded to maxxis DD casing. No issues other than that. It's always fun to upgrade bikes, but when you compare this to the Santa Cruz bronson or similar, it's surprising how similar the geo on the status is (relatively speaking) but so much cheaper. Of course different bikes ride differently and suspension platforms make a big difference too... I've just had a hard time talking myself away from an upgrade because this is just such a good value.

I've had the status 140 for 7 months now and have had zero issues with anything on the bike. Haven't had any creaks either. And I ride the shit out of it too. Definitely hasn't been ridden lightly. Learned 360s on it, road double blacks in Sedona, bottomed out super hard on big drops and jumps, all that and it still preforms soo well. I think the leaking of the fork in this video was just being unlucky. Only thing that may be an issue so far, I think the derailleur clutch has weakened, so heavy landings on big drops or jumps tend to make noise from chain slap. Thought this might be helpful for anyone looking to buy the bike 🤙

Great review. I've had this bike for just over a year and it's awesome value. The butcher tyres let me down a couple times so they were the first upgrade. I had the same oil leak on the rythm fork after some bigger hits but all good after a service. The nx rear mech is poor and will be the next upgrade. Code r brakes need a regular bleed if you like them precise. This is a burly bike and worth every penny.

My last wheelset is intact 2 years later, some cosmetic chips but 0 dings, only 1 flat with a trail butcher on the rear and octamusse insert.

There actually is a low speed compression adjuster. It is a 4 position adjuster. If you look in the shock manual/ schematic it shows it. I have one of these on my '22 stumpy Evo alloy. You can pop off the little black cap where the adjuster should be (it's a little scary the first time, I used some Pedro's levers to pop it off) and turn the dial. Great bike for downhill and it loves to fly. Minimal effort to clear jumps that are sketch on my other bike. Not easy to climb though. Built for parks. Like other Status owners the first change is the tires. On more then one occasion the rear tire almost folded off the rim with high, med, and low air pressure. NX rear derailleur sucks and the cassette on mine comes loose often causing rattling back end. None of this is the bikes fault it's the components. Happy trails yawl.

I’m 6‘2“ and 190 pounds I find that the butcher that came on my Evo Evo slides around underneath me pushing in the berms. If you compare the S6 Evo to the status S5, at 6‘4“ how much do you think the size difference makes? And do you know if specialized is coming out with an S6 version of the status?

i'd say doubtful on S6 status, but who knows. jonny's stumpjumper is S5, too. he said for the tigher, more tech riding in phoenix, that's what he prefers. if he was in a place with faster, less-twisty terrain, he'd consider the S6

I would definitely skip this bike and go for the Evo. It's heavy, raked out, the Code R breaks went to the bars after the second ride needing a complicated bleed, and the wheelset is crap, and let's not talk about those shitty tires. Sold it after 6 months and never looked back.
