  • No saw will ever match these old 708 dewalt miter saws. They where a true work horse. I still get them in regulatory for repair.
These are well worth repairing as nothing will ever last as long.
Like most I see now, the bearings have failed. This one is particularly bad as it's actual siezed solid.

I'm appreciate your systematic, logical approach to trouble shooting, and I'm quite impressed that you seem to do a lot of the reassembly one-handed while you hold the camera with the other hand!

By the looks of it, that blade in it dates to 1997 as well. Is it sea air or something that makes it corroded like that?
Terrific video… I hope your customer realized how lucky he was that the saw ended up on your bench.

Great video👍🏻.... don't suppose you have a spare link ASSY for the blade guard for a 708?

What bearing puller do you use Dean? Or what selection do you have ? Cheers

    Hi great videos.
I’m hoping you could help me, I have a dws774 but sadly not working. I have changed brushes, changed switch and checked fuse, what would you recommend changing next? Thanks.

Hey. I have a bit of a longshot question. How do I take the siders out? I picked one of these up used with the device not sliding at all. I got it loosened up but obviously taking the slide out and getting some lubricants in there and cleaning out the scrub would help immensely.

found one of these curbside next town over for free. took home, took apart everything. armature, wiring, belt, & gears looked okay. then i put new brushes, machine started smoking badly, then shut off. someone on reddit said that there's a short on the armature. not worth fixing at this rate 😢😭

I have this exact saw and it’s not getting power, switch seems to be fine, is there any way to test the motor itself with a quick Hotwire?

My DW 708 type 4 looks like the Commutator is ruined due to a failure of the bearings. I have looked all over for a replace Armature and unable to find anything. Do you have any ideas? I have not been able to find a replacement except a used 708 Type 3 saw for $225

Hi i have the same saw -DW708. The guard linkage is broken - 153719-01. You wouldn't have an old one lying around that you want to sell. I can't find one online.
    Cheers

My 708 has been retired due to noisy bearings and a wobble on the blade bearing 🥺
Have you part numbers for these replacements please 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  Před rokem

The bearings you can simply check the bearing numbers you don't need part numbers. Cannt mind them of hand.
The wobble is due to the inner blade clamp. Dewalt no longer make it so you will have to look around online

Hi Dean -- Great video. Do you have part numbers for the two bearings you're using in the front gearbox of this saw? I see those are discontinued bearings and no suggested replacement part numbers -- what replacement are you using here?
