  • When My chopsaw began to make a horrible noise and the blade became out of balance I knew something was wrong…
    I sure hope you enjoy watching How I created more work necessary repairing my chopsaw. But all was good in the end. Sometimes the only way to learn is to mess up. Thanks for watching!

    I just today changed out 3 bearings (2 in the armature and 1 in the gear box) in my DeWalt DW706. Your video gave me the confidence to get it done. Huge difference. Runs smoother and quieter. Thanks.

      Wow that’s great! I’m so happy it was helpful! Another tool saved from the scrap pile.

    Looks like an AMATEUR replacing bearings on an ARMATURE!

    Wow that miter saw sounds like it’s gonna self destruct or eat someone’s finger off!

    Thanks for the demonstration, and for the part number. Of course I’m here because my bearing is starting to go too. Thumbs up! Are both bearings (saw shaft and motor shaft) the same one?

      Thanks. Im glad it was useful. Im not too sure of the other bearing size but I will try to locate the exploded view and parts list that I used. If I find it I’ll pass it on. Good luck with yours!

    2:30 you left out the hardest part. Getting the bearing out of the carrier!

      @@fieromike1 my outter bearing ring is stuck in the large plate. (In the video, he cuts the video, then it slides out easily...)

    • @fieromike1
      @fieromike1  Před rokem

      @@TheInstigatr22 there was no camera trickery or cutting. The bearing came out completely. If the outer ring of your bearing is still inside the large plate, I would assume you should be able to just tap it out with a punch.

      @@fieromike1 thanks for responding. Actually the entire bearing is stuck in there. Sprayed and letting it soak for now....

    Where can I get that kind of clamps to get the bearing off?

      Harbor freight actually has the proper one the one I used was a pulley puller.

    Congratulations on the successful repair of the saw :-) What does your RAM truck? I'm doing now soon the bushings and ball joints from the lower and upper control arms..

      Thanks mike. The truck is doing fine except I need to do the struts in the front and back now.

    What’s the tool you used to pull the bearing off the armature ? Where do I buy one?

    • @fieromike1
      @fieromike1  Před 2 lety +1

      It was a gear puller that I had to modify a bit. The correct tool that I have since purchased is a bearing puller.
      It is amazing when you have the right tools for the job.

    My grandpa's had his DeWalt chop saw for 30 years same design as that one just it's bearing finally blew up so trying to replace it he already got a new chop saw but we're still trying to replace the bearing not to mention our bearing still hasn't even come off it is so loctite on there it's not funny we're trying to find other tools to take it off

    • @fieromike1
      @fieromike1  Před 2 lety

      That’s great that you are making the effort to save the tool rather than trash it. I agree that bearing was press fit on there like crazy!
      I used a pully puller that I had to modify slightly to make it work. I have since gotten a bearing pulling tool and it is from heaven. This is a link to it at harbor freight. Good luck with it. Please let me know how it works out.
