I don't know why he chose to go to a school with a really good incumbent QB in the first place. Unless he wanted to sit on the bench for a while. And now he's just doubling down on that decision. But Archie managed his sons pretty well. If he's cool with this then I've gotta respect that.

He really doesn’t gain much playing as freshman, still in the development phase, just a huge injury risk with little to no reward. If he gets injured as a freshman and it causes a recurring injuring, hurts the long term draft stock

@@stout8807 That makes sense. Though a lot of players don't often make calculations based on "what if I get hurt". (Well, maybe DBs do.) Players want to play. That's generally what I hear coming from them (and coaches, announcers, etc). But to your point, there are players who have skipped bowl games at the end of their college careers. I guess there's no reason why Arch couldn't do the same thing at the start. Especially if he's listening to his more experienced family members. Or maybe he's just not as passionate about football and allows logic to take over. Who knows. Point is, you might be right.

I don't think Ewers' arm is all that great for a pro QB, and his mobility is only average. He is also somewhat injury prone. When he good, he’s pretty good, but when he’s bad, he’s really, really, bad! He tends to get happy feet, retreats, and gets sacked or throws up an interception. Maybe Arch should consider Clemson again. After all, Garrett Riley (brother of Lincoln), is the OC and Clemson has put some QB’s (Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson) in the NFL lately too!

Riley didn't recruit Baker or Murry who both came to Oklahoma on their own. He did recruit Rattler and we see how that has gone. Riley was a great play caller before he became head coach but he has NEVER done both really well. As far as him being some qb whisperer he was just in the right place at the right time. His time as SC won't be long because he is not a great HC. It take coaches 5 years to get their team in place and his 5th year at Oklahoma was a disaster as will his 5th year at SC.

I believe that Murphy will be the one to transfer not Arch. Arch is still developing, SEC ball is a whole different beast. Plus if Murphy transfers and that’ll mean Arch the backup. Ewers does have an injury history as well. He should sit tight and just continue learning the offense and the scheme. Maybe they make a QB change in the middle of the year if Ewers struggles. Maybe Arch takes the rains after Ewers leaves. Either way, he’s not leaving Texas

Rattler worked out. they were 7-0 when he was benched. He outperformed him over the same number of games statistically. They were playoff bound with him and Caleb went 3-2 the rest of year and they lost their playoff hopes bc of it. Everyone immediately went to Calebs side bc he was electric and played really well and exploded on the scene. But in the end Riley ruined Rattlers chance to go in the 1st Rd just to play Caleb knowing he was leaving to USC so he could get him to follow him there.

If anyone transfers it will be Malik Murphy. Which will in turn make Arch the backup next year heading into the SEC. I really like your take on this situation ! I am a Bama fan and my wife and I have watched Bryce Young suffer through his rookie season. I agree with your assessment of what has happened to Bryce this season. However the NFL , unlike the College ranks where you enter the transfer portal and go to another school, you are under contract to stick out for whatever the contract conditions where. I am pretty sure Arch's family is helping him with his decisions, who would know better then them! I believe Brian Kelly would love to have Arch on his team. We will see ,who know Ewers could get hurt next season ,we would hope not but football is a brutal sport and the players are an eye lash away from injury.

Next season, Manning will be the number two. That is pretty much guaranteed. Anything beyond that, honestly, will all come down to Ewers. Now fast forward to this time next year. What happens if Ewers decides to actually play his senior season? That is where the only issue I see is. I can't see Manning agreeing to waste 3 seasons on the bench. I can't see Texas allowing Manning to ride the bench. But this is college football and really strange things happen every week.

Regardless of the situation, playing football will allow you to grow greater in its capacity than simply just practicing. The only advantage to being a back up is learning all of the backend intricacies of football which, unfortunately if you’re a full-time starter in high school a lot of times you don’t get any of that knowledge so it’s a double edge sword it always comes down to what the kid ones but I would always recommend playing over not playing.

I hate to see Arch Manning go with Riley, yes for the offense side he can learn a lot from Riley but as a team player, winning ballgames, Riley will crush his name, just like he’s doing to Williams. As with ANY football team ~ the offense & the defense should be on the same level to blossom as a TEAM, to move forward, to get credit where credit is due! Good Luck Arch! 🏈💪🏻👊🏻🫶🏻💋🇺🇸
