Hello Mark! Not only is this one of your best videos, it is one of the best videos I have ever seen. You give people a lot of great advice and a lot to think about. I think you should incorporate this type of video into your every man has a story repertoire. You can make it a monthly introspective with Mark. Or, when you can't find men to interview, you can create one of these videos. I hope this video gets a lot of views for you. It is definitely something worth watching!

So glad I came across your page. I’m 58 years old and as I came across the first video I had seen, I realized our past stories were very similar. I too had accomplished a lot in my life and career, with wonderful children and grandchildren, but somehow I found myself feeling so empty and lost. I really identified with what you were saying with your straightforward and easily style. I feel like our personalities and outlook are similar.
I too have come to a crossword. I can no longer live life as it is. I’m past my worst depression it seems, but I’m at that point you called “blah”. I don’t want more of the same numbing existence I feel. I’ve thought of going to the Philippines for a year or so. It almost feels like life is directing me to make this move. I’m just giving it as much serious thought as possible because in my past I’ve been hasty in making some good choices. Career wise things went well, with a good military retirement, but in my personal life I seem to keep failing.
Your story has really given me some hope I can rediscover myself.
My biggest concern is missing my children and grandchildren. That is all that is keeping me from leaving the states. I tell myself I should be living a life that gives me peace and not relying on my children to fulfill my happiness. I love them dearly, but I must live for me. I don’t mean that to sound selfish, but I feel I owe them a better father and being able to be at peace would help them.
I’m going to continue to follow your videos and hopefully learn more about life there and how it may fit for me. I’ve traveled the world, but the Philippines has always had an attraction. I was there to n 1983, but I’m sure much has changed. Hopefully this COVID will pass for all. Take care!
The last 10 years of my working life I was a taxi driver and would often have conversations with my customers and many would tell me things about there lives that they wouldn’t even tell there family or loved ones because I was just a sponge and they could feel free to get things of there minds that only a stranger would deal with and have no consequences and feel comfortable. That’s one thing I miss about work. But now living in Thailand is still better as at 68 I don’t miss all the other stresses that work can bring on!
I found myself at 50 instead of doing a UK holiday i found myself marriage ended after 26 years. To find out who I am to get my dignity back I left with basics what I can put in a small car including my 2 dogs. It has been a struggle but I regained my life back. My ex still has the house and I started my life over with zero moneyat 50. I am now living a simple minimalist life and happy.
Why did you not sell house and split the funds?

It’s truly amazing how the sub conscience works like that. I agree, I’ve done just that for years now. When ever I’ve had anything heavy weighting on my mind, I’ve taken it to sleep with me. More times than not, upon waking for the next day, I’d have the answer or I’d see a more clear picture of what it is I needed to do. I believe that’s the key, trust your gut instinct and intuitions. Great topic Mark. Good thoughts create positive changes!

I've been watching your videos alot and I like your straight forward attiude as well as your dry sense of humor. I'll be turning 50 this year and I've been thinking alot about my future as well as figuring out which path to take. The Philippines is on my list, as I have been chatting with someone special for about a year and a half now. We both know that the odds are against us due to the travel restrictions but I am hoping to visit Davao City hopefully at the end of this year or the beginning of 2022. Wow Mark, you created a winner here. This should be viral, seen by millions. Im watching it again. Very solid and useful advice. I didn't find one piece I disagree with. Something about your tone and delivery style and the way one piece just flows effortlessly and seamlessly into the next was so familiar. Then towards the end, it came to me. It reminds me of the spoken word song Class of 99; Wear Sunscreen. Search it if your dont know or don't remember it. Thanks for the advice.

34:03 looked like a shooting star in the background. So I thought I would like to make a wish. So I backed it up and re-watched it. (Hmmm) it could have been a UFO. A defect in the video. Or a firefly. There were a few. I miss that place so much. I have a 2 year old daughter on the Garden City of Samal Island. Today is 2 years ago I got on the plane to come to the US. I have to keep telling myself that I will be able to get back.

Mark - thank you for emphasizing the power of positive thinking. The greatest deterrents that paralyze people from achieving their goals are: 'oh, I am too old' 'not smart enough' 'I do not know where to start'. Work towards a goal and start anywhere, but do something towards it is more important and over time those little things amount to great things.
Some good advice, Brother. Things just happen, and not for any particular reason. Things just happen. Live in the moment.
