- The Prowler giveth, the Prowler taketh away. I take a few minutes to have some perspective, weighing the pros and cons of the Bass Pro Shops Pond Prowler on a frustrating, breezy day.

Appreciate the honesty, and totally relate to the fishing struggles, sometimes we just have unlucky days, just gotta keep trying...
Nice video man! At least I am not the only one losing his confidence! LOL
Love the channel, and the Pond Prowler! What I love about that style of boat is you can access small bodies of water like a kayak, but don't have to change your fishing style (casting low to the water, etc.). If I would find one of those from 1982, I'd be in business...
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Winston Tripp I dunno I would suggest Flixportal. just search on google after it:) -christian
@Christian Ruben thanks, I signed up and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!!
@Winston Tripp happy to help :)
Moral of the story..Good batteries are important!👍👍
The more focus you put on talking about your boat and the pros/cons and how you prepare your trips with it, store it, the more I enjoy the videos. I’m on the fence about getting one and any info you put up is appreciated. I Don’t need to see you catching a million fish because that doesn’t help me make my decision. Keep up the good videos!
Thanks for the input man - I'm going to be doing a video soon covering some of the changes I've been making to mine, including swapping around the motor to the front and making more room in it. Just need to get done with all my work travel so I can actually put some time into it!
JoelFishes cool. Trying to decide between the 8ft version which would be easier to store in garage and load in short bed pickup and the 10 ft in case I take a passenger. I’m 6’2” 230 and my older son ( 20 yrs old) is 6’6” 205 lbs. Thinking if I take him, definitely would want larger version but he might only go a few times during the summer since he enjoys taking his kayak. Definitely 90% of time would be me going solo so need to weigh all the pros and cons.
@@patrickfahie8671 the extra size is probably worth the hassle for the extra stability alone, plus storage space.
JoelFishes that’s how I’m leaning. Never wish you had less room or storage, whether it’s a room in your house, a patio, or deck of boat 😁 Good point with stability also. I’ll just tell my wife it’s safer for the kids. 😎
@@patrickfahie8671 you got this figured out lol I hope you end up enjoying it once you get it. Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any other questions
Awesome video and great channel we all love fishing like the boat you got there. I am a new supporter of your channel glad I found your channel as always happy fishing and tight lines.
Hi from Randi’s Adventures! Hoosierback Outdoors gave us both a special shoutout and I am excited to subscribe and follow your channel! ♥️
The hardest thing can be enjoying time on the lake when not catching anything. It’s tough to think of day as a success when no bites, but this year I am really go into just try to enjoy the time and not the results.
Patrick Fahie I drink when I'm fishing, if I dont catch a fish at least I catch a buzz
I moved on to coffee...lots of coffee...all the time 🤣
damn you need some bass fish man!
Come visit! I'll get on on fish. Bit of a far trek though lol.
I wasn’t getting a single bite for 3 or 4 trips. Over the winter I had put 80 lb flouro on all my setups in case a big musky went after my bass baits. I had a revelation and switched back to 15 lb flouro and it was like I switched on a light. Suddenly all kinds of bass. So my suggestion is to go with a little lighter line than currently using. Just my .02 cents. Also just picked up a prowler last night. Your video was encouraging. Keep up the good work
Thanks man, I honestly generally use lighter line already cause our water is so clear. Look forward to hearing how you like the boat
Struggle bus man, I think it’s just time for a new battery!
"Fishing isn't that fun right now" - honesty
The struggle is very real. It's not for lack of effort.
Bs saying “bad day fishing is better than a good day at work”. Really ruins my day when I get skunked lol
They'll lock shallow pretty soon. This time of year is hit or miss.
Just picked up a original pond prowler 10’, 2017, came with a minn Kota c2 45 lb thrust , nice battery and some paddles. Really good deal. The guy selling just retired and had purchased the boat but his buddies didn’t retire and never made it out to fish with. I don’t think he took it out more than once, no modifications, completely pristine. Took it out once and had a blast. I think I want to put trolling motor in front, was wondering if you made the switch to motor in front.
That's great dude! I did not, even though I had planned to. I couldn't quite get the wiring to work and think I maybe broke it somewhere. The front doesn't come equipped with the metal motor mount, and I had run out of energy trying to find the right piece to protect the boat and provide firm mounting.
JoelFishes I was thinking the only thing I had to deal with was turning the handle motor around. Forgot about the wiring. Hopefully I can switch it painlessly but we’ll see. I really want to switch so I’m not half turned around so I,can barely see while going on number 5. Going backwards kinda felt like I was guiding a brick 🤣. So hot now, whenever I get home I just want to stay in air conditioning. I do construction and this week has been brutal. Looking forward to seeing any modifications you end up doing. I’m thinking of using a crate with rod holders to keep space organized.
If you put your pinky and thumb together and make the “3” hand, that is ASL for 6. So you DO have enough fingers 😃
Today I learned lol
Hey Joel new sub , what I did to is put a rope front & back with a ring in the middle and put your anchor rope on the ring , it keeps me square and I don't move on breezy days . I hope this helps ,
Thanks man - I've considered that, basically an anchor trolley like kayakers use. Honesty, it seems like the best option by far.
With those conditions try throwing a 4 in tube with a light weight on a texas rig
Not sure if you figured out what the problem was with your battery but it's not good to store it on the concrete floor. Will drain it for sure. I always charge mine for a few hours even if it is full charge. Get a blue top optima
Nice vid. I'm trying to find the bass everyone else seems to be catching myself :( Were there any notable cons you wanted to highlight about the PP2? Are you transporting your TM in the cab of your truck? If so, I'm curious if there's any steps you take to cushion it or anything like that. Would love to see a video on the entire transport process!
I covered how difficult the raft can be in the wind in my review video - it is a big square, so it just kind of floats wildly in even the lightest of breeze, causing me to have to anchor down a lot. It drifts more than even some of the kayaks I've fished in. What I highlighted here that I didn't cover in the review is the fact that fighting this wind, or specifically fighting back into the wind, is a slow slog that absolutely scorches batteries. This lake is not very big, and one run down the south bank (with almost no motor use due to the wind drifting me), followed by one short run back up the other bank and it was all but dead, and I got lucky that the boat ramp area was more calm. When I first got the boat and motor, I could fish 5-6 hours with the battery still showing half charge and the motor still turning well, but by this past fall it was dying in 3-4 hours.
For the other question - I transport the TM side the boat most of the time, with a tether. I've hit some decent bumps and never had it to much more than bounce up a little bit and flop down. I use the foam mats in the bottom of the boat, so in general it's not taking much abuse back there. I could probably be more gentle on it, but this is how I've done it.
I don't know what kind of battery you have but a common mistake I see people make is they buy a car battery instead of a battery designed for sustained use.
If you compare the internals of a battery designed to start a car to the insides of a deep cycle battery, they are two entirely different animals, and discharging car batteries will actually damage them.
You should never drain a car battery, and if not used for extended periods of time they should be on a battery maintainer.
You want a deep discharge lead acid or AGM battery that will be rated based on amp hour, (AH) not cold cranking amps(CCA).
Is that intro "scale the Summitt". ... better watch out for them copyright strikes lol
Couldn't you Drift Sock your passes?
That's why they call it fishing next time you will probably kill them.
Once you start modifying it, you'll never be able to quick store it in your garage like that. No way.
Man, a friend sent me a picture of his 6lb bass...... he's caught 10 this year all over 3 lbs.....................wth I've caught 1 this year
Yeah I'm scratching for a single fish, let alone something big
C Caballero I’m there too hahaha
And the 1 I caught was 1.5 lbs....... wth
@@reellifewithcinco7858 1.5lb more bass than I have in 2019 lolol
JoelFishes I JUST CAUGHT A 5LB BASS LAST NIGHT BEFORE IT GOT DARK, i dont social media, but I do have the fish brain app, cincojenacaballero if ya wanna check it out!!!!! 2 fish this year so far Lol!
Joel, know how to send PMs on CZcams? Hit me up if you do!
throw out some of that shit in your garage! Not using it ... toss it.
Hey bro, is the pond prowler similar to the field and stream angler 10 boat? Reason i ask is that Dicks is doing a 20percent off and im debating on jumping on it. Let me know what you think? Need help deciding. Thanks!!
Similar. I think that boat is actually a version of the Pelican Bass Raider which is similar but different.
JoelFishes I believe field and stream angler is actually a sun dolphin replicate.
uhmm question did you just put your battery box on the floor with nothing under it ? them battery box suck an do not protect the battery from the ground ... on concrete ... cut you a 3/4 plywood sheet an place your battery box on it . never place them on the ground . the Battery will an can discharge ,and ruin the life of the battery
Unfortunately I was informed of that way too late and destroyed that first battery. I have them on plywood for the last six months or so.
I watched 6 of the 9-minute video which (based on the title) was supposed to be about the Pond Prowler. Instead it was 6 minutes of complaining about the lack of bites and a cruddy battery but not one thing about the boat. Thumbs down from me.
