  • I hit the river on the 4th of July, and was greeted with hundreds of pleasure boaters, erhm, "sharing the water". My little Pond Prowler showed a few of its weaknesses on this day.

      I hope to get my channel running soon I will show you what to do to keep you from bad handling in wind simple things to help you anyway I can . I have had to figure out lots of things. No matter if I put it in a 2000 acre lake in Texas or be able to trust what you do in a 60000 acre lake but stay close always always have a marine walkie talkie or make sure you know how to get out of bad weather fast ..Always have things
      for emergencies. Never out run weather get you ass to shore. In a cove. A 2.5 hp engine with extra fuel. If you launch and decide a 10 mile run is worth it. It's not. Fish close. Sometimes I hope not but people do not like you by there docks. Don't be a hero and cuss them out just say ok . You have the right to fish and they have the right to understand your rights. Be safe. God Bless

    I am a professional angler and guide. I have the same boat plus the 8 footer. I can tell you when you think you need to run 60mph then go get a big boat. But addressing the situation. I would stay there and catch fish or locate them I promise they are there and I have no clue where your at. I had a bass buster when I was 14 back in 1984 . I won the tournament my first ever with 16.42 in a two fish tournament . You have to deal with jetskis or be in my ranger and have big boats throw me around .. fish the moment . It will make you a hell of a better angler

    I deal with the wakeboarders all summer on the Willamette. The lower Willamette around George Rogers park. I will say that my Hobie Outback is really stable since my weight is low to the water. I am not standing up to fish but I can swivel hip over the wakes. I was out yesterday and it was pretty crazy but the fishing was insanse. Over 70 smallies, the early morning topwater was great and it just got better from there. No skill was involved, they bit everything I threw at them. Hey, here's a lure I have never caught a fish on, bang.
    I do understand about the limited range, but that is why I always try to plan on being on the water for at least 10 hours. I usually pass on half days opportunities.
    Once again, nice video and thanks for taking us along and that last smallmouth was a nice fish for summer!

      Man, jealous of your success - I did NOT get on the water as early as I wanted and even though I threw ploppers, walking baits and buzzbaits around for an hour or so I saw nothing. I am maybe 15 trips into fishing that area - I get consistent success but not to the level I feel like I probably should. But learning this water with each passing trip is helping.

      @@JoelFishes You should try the launch at Willamette park in West Linn (where the Tualatin dumps in). There is a lot of good water upstream from the ramp. You can scope it out with the Navionics webapp (webapp.navionics.com). I think there is more good water within a short jaunt of the ramp. I don't do many videos but I do post reports on ifish.net (rollcast). I provide a lot of detail on where I am finding fish.

    What would you consider for a ONE battery set up? Fortunately for me, I have a lot of weekday fishing time so taking 45 mins to one spot wouldn't bother me much. However, I would wanna make sure that I have the battery to do it.

    • @JoelFishes

      I did one battery for over a year. It worked but it was stressful and I had a couple days I was stranded and had to awkwardly paddle back.

      Ozzy, if you want 1 that will last you years to come then get a lithium which is good for around 3000 charge cycles vs average of 500 for a standard. You will pay A LOT more for a lithium though but it is still worth it in the long run if you take care of it.

    • @srsykes49
      @srsykes49 Před 2 lety

      putting two batteries in parallel with each other will give you at least twice the time or range.

    Hey there,
    I do a ton of kayak fishing and crossing the lake sucks but still need to get it done sometimes, anyways try using a 31 serials battery and that should give u longer run time. Look for a battery that has a higher ah like a 98ah or 110ah

    Yup I use the PP2 on a reservoir with unforgiving shale terrain and unreachable areas from shore, scoots me around to a lot of areas I otherwise couldn't fish (or would spend an hour hiking into and be committed to the spot). Nice vid as always man! Was wondering what device you're using to capture footage of you fishing in the PP2 with the gopro? It seems like it's up nice and high and captures you and the surrounding area pretty well (I can't tell how stable it is though).

    • @JoelFishes
      @JoelFishes  Před 5 lety +1

      It's a pvc pole I've got mounted. One of my next few vid will be a tour of the changes I've made to my boat and I'll cover the mount more then. And yeah, not the most stable and definitely in the way at times

    @juzzonmorris Před 3 lety +1

    Could you get a more powerful trolling motor??

    • @JoelFishes
      @JoelFishes  Před 3 lety

      Yes. The only ones more powerful are foot-control, and then you have mounting issues and the need for two batteries.

    • @blake102989
      @blake102989 Před 3 lety +1

      A more powerful trolling motor will not make you go any faster, no matter the lb thrust it will still only go about 4mph. The higher thrust motors are made for larger boats to put less strain on the motor itself. It will not spin faster. You could get the 24v 80lb thrust transom mount trolling motor and get a single 24v battery but it wouldn't be worth the money for such a small boat. I have a 30lb on my 12ft jon boat and it works very well although I would like the 55lb since there is quite a bit of hydrilla in my area I can still deal with the 30lb. Your best bet is to get a lithium battery although you will pay quite a bit for one it will last you much longer than any other kind.
