  • Didn't hit a single point of damage in Mortal Kombat? Ended up finishing last thanks to a blue shell in Mario Kart? Humiliating. #ChattyFaces.

For me it's Alien Isolation. Technically I've not been defeated. Technically. But I'm currently tucked away in a cabinet, hiding...and I've been there for a good couple of years now, most likely to never leave.
The story of Alien Isolation for me is find that an alien is on your ship, discover robots hate you, run out of fire for your flame thing...and then hide forever. No escape. Just isolated hiding.

Mine is during the early days of Diablo 3, when the random special monsters could have any mutator combinations, this one had jailer, arcane, and some other annoying crap, and I'd just die to it, in seconds, without being able to move or do anything. I got so mad I hit a bowl off my desk, forgetting it still had a fork sitting in it. When the bowl flipped it catapulted the fork perfectly across the room and into my TV. A TV I had just bought the month before.

OMG Jules that's freaking hilarious. I did almost the exact same thing but it was in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and losing the races to try and win Epona. And I got so frustrated at one point I pulled the N64 controller wire between my hands and bit down on the wire. I bit it so hard I actually chewed through it and the screen went black. I tried to turn my N64 back on and nothing would come on the screen. And it was at that point in my youth that I learned electricity ran through the controller and I had shorted out my N64 into being a brick. A sad day indeed.

  • @andruism7
    @andruism7 Před 4 lety +2

My most humiliating defeat was in Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance, not because i was doing a bad job of fighting each boss but because I didn't realize you could upgrade your weapon, so i was fighting these final bosses with basically a paper clip that did little to no damage. Also the game didn't do a good job explaining that you could slice diagonally when slowing down time, so i was basically slicing the exploding shield and dashing backward to avoid explosions instead of just hitting the weak spot. Died many times and felt like a moron when i realized that.
But gotta say it made me hella good at all the other parts of the game.

I got a game over from running out of time in the first palace in Persona 5...
It was my first time playing a Persona game, and if RPGs have taught me anything up to that point, it's cram as much side content in before a deadline! So i start doing other things, saving the palace for the final day before being expelled, with Morgana screaming in my ears every day to do the palace soon! I go in, spend about two hours clearing the palace and get to the treasure room. To my horror, Morgana tells me i have to go BACK OUT to make a calling card! I'm in full panic mode, and i eventually get the "you F'ed up bro!" cinematic, and i'm reset to a week before the deadline, and have to do everything again. It's even worse when i find out later that the deadline stays the same when you clear a palace, but you then have no pressure until the deadline if you do the palace immediatly...
I got so angry that the game didn't tell me i had to go back out, meaning i needed an extra day from what it told me, that i uninstalled the game, and didn't pick it up again for 2 months! Eventually i picked it back up, had forgotten most of what i did, so i started over, and from then on it became my favorite game of all time, even though the first time i played it i nearly never played it again...

My brother and I do the same thing for college football.
When one of us visits we play each other in NCAA Football 11 for PS2. You could sub in any NCAA game on PS2 from 2006-2011 as they're all the same aside from rosters.
Anyway, we both strongly believe that no better games have been made since. They lost the ability to make them after NCAA 14 on the PS3/360 so no game has had a chance but every NCAA game made in the 7th gen was awful, as is every Madden in the 7th and 8th gen.
So, we play NCAA 11 on PS2. To this day. Probably always because nothing matters anymore and life sucks now.

One thing that comes to mind for me is Hazy Maze Cave in Super Mario 64 long ago. I was going for all 139 coins in the level, including the tricky ones where you have to run around the Mr. I enemies on the narrow ledges in the red coin room. I finished collecting the last of the coins while I was in the room where the huge rolling rocks fall into a hole, and was trying to decide which star was safest for me to go for from there in order to save my coin score.
I decided to enter the door leading back to the start of the level, with the big pit along the way that you're supposed to long jump over, with the intent of reaching the room with the red coin star from there. When crossing this pit backwards, there's steps below on the other side that I could land on to assure my safety... or so I thought. I did a long jump, and smacked into the top step in such a way that the knockback made me fall down all of the stairs and into the pit. Yeah... I was not happy about that at all.
Oh, and looking back, that wasn't even the best way to get to the red coin room anyway. There was another door from the rolling rocks room I could've taken that led to a perfectly safe elevator I could've used to go straight to the red coin room with absolutely no hazards along the way. (I did later come back and got all 139 coins again, and made sure not to die to something dumb that time. I think I routed things differently so that the final coins I collected were the circle of 8 at the Swimming Beast in the Cavern star.)

Our last reached camp site was in the darkness so going back was even a kick to the nuts. We literally knew the entire dungeon from enemy spawns. Finding insane items we never unequipped from pure luck after so many deaths felt so good though.

Most humiliating one that comes to mind for me and I'm still a little embarrassed to admit this but one night after work I was giving my friend a ride and stopped at my house to chill out for a bit. Decided to get some matches in on MK X because why not. Had some good ones including a rubber match we had going on for while awhile between our respective Sub zeros (at least I got this one going for me). We go into another match he was Liu Kang and I was Kung low. Really good opening rounds with him coming up in the first and I claimed the second. Third round starts and I unload one of those combo streaks you usually see in those crazy fighting game players, and I was loving it. Going in for the finishing uppercut to nail a flawless victory and I missed it. And in that space of about 0.25 seconds my buddy hit that special move of Liu Kang's where he does those spinning fists, and spammed it over and over again until he beat me. I immediately threw my controller on the ground said "F*@k this. I'm not playing anymore." Ran out of the room, my own room. Not proud but to date my first and only rage quit in my life. It's been a little over two years since that night still haven't played another match against him, he keeps bringing it up.

The original Bard's Tale, in my first house I went in, after spending almost an hour in the Adventurer's Guild creating a team, my team was murdered by a group of conjurers (I didn't save the party) :/

It’s not so much a “defeat” but it was humiliating. Monster hunter it was my first adventure into the series and I was fighting a Great Jaggi. I got my behind handed to me and I survived with just a sliver of health I ran off to heal and onenof the baby Jaggi’s that do minuscule almost never reheated damage jumped and hit me, causing me to cart

Another biggest defeat would be in horizon zero dawn. It was the mission where you fight two corruptors in the eclipse camp/base. Corruptors are kinda hard to beat individually, having two while having people snipe you from all directions is challenging. I was winning the fight but I had to retreat to heal for a second. Literally turned the corner and ran into 4 ravagers which are literally sabertooth tigers with machine guns. They killed me almost immediately before i had a chance to react. Having to restart the whole fight.

Salt and Sanctuary the Disemboweled Husk. I went into SaS blind played through once as strength, heavy amour build and then made a new character as a mage. I didn't know what "elemental imbalance" was all I knew is this ring boots magic. I wasn't paying attention when I was hurting myself. 6 Hours it took me to beat that boss.

I lost to Magnet Man several times, went and ate something, and then beat him first try on coming back. That's the main one I remember. The funny thing is that I tend to do poorly against bosses people find easy and destroy bosses that others find hard. Guess it's a talent. =P

Most of the times you blow up your mech by overheating in the Mechwarrior games, particularly when you try an alpha strike in Mechwarrior 3 with an untested build and suddenly all that is left of you is a big hole in the ground and maybe a limb or two...

15 years later it still saddens me. Not sure if it qualifies for a defeat, but gawd was it humiliating.
