    Really nice tutorial, I really like the super orange style, kinda reminds me of Pascal Blanché's style, strong colours and I definitely like the warm desert environment.

    When you added the sphere for the sun, it cast a shadow on the right hand side of the render. Shadow still there in final image. Might be better to stop it from being shadow casting?

  • @andrewbredlan417
    @andrewbredlan417 Před 4 lety +2

    This is great! Have you ever tried 'render passes' to render individual objects separately? When you removed the sun it made me wonder if that could be a good use case for that, but im too impatient/confused to try it yet haha

    • @James_Films
      @James_Films  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah thats a good point! I do sometimes render out a z depth or mist pass to composite in with photoshop or after effects to add in that atmospheric falloff. The sun definitely could be added in as an extra layer in compositing, too! For a simple scene like these, it might be a bit overkill though!

    I never used Blender I’m so used to Maya been using it for 3 years now it’s a pain to do simple things like selecting faces and extruding everything is so confusing on blender haha i wouldn’t be able to model a a simple chair on blender but I like rendering with it and you can scatter Rocks and stuff on the terrain it’s something I don’t know how to do on maya

    Thanks for the tutorial. When you import the UV sphere as the sun, the specific object casts shadows on the sand's surface due to the light coming from behind. This isn't accurate, of course.

    Also, do you see any difference in rendering 8bit vs 16bit png's? I think they give more editability but hard to tell

    • @James_Films
      @James_Films  Před 4 lety

      Haven't seen too much of a difference when working with 8bit or 16bit! I think there are some incompatibilities with certain filters in photoshop with one or the other

      You have to enable node wrangler in advance.
      1. Go to Edit > Preference
      2. Type in Node Wrangler in the search field
      3. Enable Node: Node Wrangler by clicking the checkbox

    Trying to figure out I can make something seem as if its kind of buried in the sand, but still visible. Say like, a bottle, or a crystal or something. Is that something you can render through blender? Or would I just have to rely on photoshop skills to make it appear that way? A response from anyone competent in blender would be cool.

    • @James_Films
      @James_Films  Před 3 lety

      You can absolutely do this in blender. Use vertex paint to blend two textures to make it seem like it is buried
