i dont think they can. the title "GTA" alone will attract like half of the world, even if its a mediocre/bad game. and most other good open world / sandbox games will always overshadowed by GTA and will be called "GTA" ripoffs, no matter how good they are. GTA has taken that genre long ago and became the genre itself

If GTA 6 is a bad game, and another developer puts out a better game, that other game will do great. Yeah, it mostly likely won't do at well as a great GTA 6 game would have, but still... and given Rockstars history, I'd say the chances of GTA6 being subpar are very slim.

Lets be honest with our self if they did a sleeping dogs 2 another true crimes game we wouldnt know how to act and the game in todays market will likely fail sadly.
Also i still play sleeping dogs and its as fun as it was when i first played it. My top 2 games are sleeping dogs and bully both great games i think have earned a second coming.

SD has gained quite the cult following since release. I think a new installment of The Getaway would surpass that of a sequel to Sleeping Dogs.
Remember back in the days when people thought Sleeping Dogs, Watch dogs or Mafia 2 would be serious competition against GTA V ? With many articles titled "The new GTA Killer ?". 😂
I know that you can do fabulous things with few, but trying to compete with a company that invest half a BILLION in their games, having THOUSANDS of devs working on it for at least half a DECADE, it's impossible.
And the thing is that all those ressources are well managed, so even with the same ressources, other companies are no garanteed to make games as good as Rockstar's.

Rockstar/GTA has been building this series for almost 30 years and to think any game that comes out that's similar to it could be remotely as good is crazy talk. To put this in perspective, they have been actively building and creating GTA games before the Internet was considered to be a common household amenity lol
GTA is the jack of all trades, but master of none (if you dont know what that phrase means then look it up). Either way, I've had way more fun with some GTA-competitors than I did with the actual GTA games. Sleeping Dogs is the best example of this because the hand-to-hand melee combat in Sleeping Dogs was 1000x better than the melee combat in all the GTA games combined. In fact, I would go as far as to say that the melee combat in GTA 5 was awful. The only thing GTA has going for it is its popularity due to its name. But other similar games have done certain gameplay aspects much better.....
@@thechosenone2123 I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the master of none. That's a bold statement but I guess it's fair enough. We have to remember that GTA5 came out in 2013 and yes, it's been updated a million times since. But there are gonna be some core mechanics that simply can not be reworked (at least not without a whole hell of alot of work, plus they want to make a new game eventually, they are a business). GTA5 was not designed to be what it is today but with the addition of GTA6 soon, mark my words, it will blow every other game out of if the water.
I'll use cyberpunk for example. The game was super hyped up running off the coat tails of GTA, flopped miserably. Yes, they have made some huge improvements to make the game better of course, but the combat is lacking, the storyline is short, the side missions don't really mesh. Graphics are great though, let's just say.. it is what it is.. but it's not GTA.
Sleeping Dogs was ok. It was specifically designed for hand to hand combat so of course it's better at that. Sleeping Dogs doesn't even compare to GTA though, let's be honest
Rockstar has never failed to blow our minds when it first releases. They deliver quality games that stay relevant well beyond any other games. I mean Call of Duty for example comes out with a new game almost every single year to stay relevant it seems like.
GTA5, today, peaked with 150k players (9th Overall) being an 11 year old game.. I mean let's be real, GTA is a master of none? It literally is the "master" at being the "jack of all trades" apparently.
@@tydeanrich417 Did you not read my previous example fully? The term "Jack Of All Trades Master Of None" applies perfectly to GTA. Yes its juggling many different mechanics and gameplay aspects, but it doesnt master any of them. As I said in my previous example, look at Sleeping Dogs.
Even if Sleeping Dogs was a smaller scale game, it was able to master more gameplay mechanics much better than GTA, especially when it came to its hand-to-hand melee combat. The melee combat in Sleeping Dogs destroys the mediocre melee combat in GTA 5. The GTA series never had good melee combat, it was always mediocre. But people give it a pass because its "GTA" (name-recognition in a brand goes a long way in making people forget certain flaws).....

i dont know. mindseye looks cool as fuck and it definitely deserves its stripes, but i just dont think it'll scratch the same itch for a lot of people. i know im not the only one who feels this way. i had the same with saints row too. i never really played true crime, watchdogs, sleeping dogs, anything like that so cant comment but id imagine they would suffer from the same reception if i did play them. just dont quite hit the right spot.

i belive dan houser"s studio can deliver a open world rpg game much better then gta 6 when it comes to storytelling and gameplay. RD2 storyline was very solid, exciting and intriging. last time impressed me with a great character background was with gta 4. they can most likely come up with a much better story then rockstar ever could. i wonder how long they have been working on their project though.
While I somewhat agree, GTA as a series is so massive and such a staple it'd be a real feat to have someone be considered a competitor.

I agree with the fact they NEED competition but the funding they offer is hard to one up. The amount of developers they can afford to hire in comparison with other companies will always give them the edge and they know it!

Tbh after gta and rdr i will rank last of us... Naught dogs is my favourite studios after Rockstar. I haven't played tlou but I'm sure after seeing some trailer and clips from naught dogs and playstation ....the tune was dark and light, drama and love all are intense. I will they will give pc port of tlou part 2 till 2025.

It also helps that Rockstar uses thier own game engine to build GTA, thry dont use third party software like Unity or Unreal they use RAGE thier own in-house engine they built from the ground up and over the years, they updated this engine with technical advancements and now we're looking at RAGE 9 for GTA VI which is thier top of the line engine and with the technical improvements coming with this new and improved engine it may be able to go neck and neck with the new Unreal Engine 5, VI is gonna be an even bigger juggernaut than V is 💯
My guy, RAGE has been around since 2006. The engine is almost 20 yrs old, its outdated as hell. Unreal Engine 5 is miles ahead.

One game that I used to love to play back in the PlayStation 2 era that had somewhat of a GTA aspect was TRUE CRIME STREETS OF LA if they had a better team that could had been GTA competition but in the sequel of TRUE CRIME NEW YORK they was not the same both were developed by Luxoflux I use to play GTA 3 n TRUE CRIME STREETS all the time back in the days

most of the players play gta story and online but i tell you what, i am content creator for gta for a long time on one of my channels and they mods and menyoo script will let you create any scene any animation so good that you will not believe they let their users do this much in the game. this aspect of gta is not known to most players themselves and no game will come closer to what gta has given us behind the basic game modes. its like youre animating the scenes on a software and then comes rockstar editor, which i get to master in like years, that is another masterpiece from gta. These are those things i mentioned which are not known for gta games but tbh for me gta is all about creating conent/machinimas and action/horror stories in the most creative ways you like.

Mindseye and whatever Houser is going to do aren't going to be competition for GTA VI, neither is going to be out for years and likely not really comparable outside superficial similarities. Mindseye is going to be a live service game in the "metavese" or whatever.

Budget, resources and human power will be an issue here. Just check out how many people have worked on GTA 5. Even if some of the most brilliant devs left the company, they cant compete with almost unlimited budget and resources a R* has due to gta online.

Project Red Games was probably looking for someone similar and cyberpunk was the result.
Making a Souls-like clone is not easy, nobody has done it in the same way Fromsoftware does.
There is a problem with all that, and that is Benzis and Dan Houser dont have 2 billion dollars to spend on a game, they wouldn't know if the game will flop or not, meanwhile Rockstar already knows they will make a huge profit on GTA 6 since GTA as a name is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest game name today.

In order for this game to beat GTA, they would have to implement all the stuff that we're asking for now, and a capacity that is far more dense, varied, and higher quality than with Rockstar, I think the only way that this game will be successful at all is if they implement all the stuff that Rockstar ignores us when we ask for it

GTA 6 is going to be like a TItan, God of Gaming, King of the games etc, call it how you want. The other companies have to rise their standards as well if they want to compete (highly doubt it). Like INTER said, there aren't other games like GTA online with that many things to do, so imagine how impressive GTA online 2.0 is going to be. Cyberpunk wasn't bad, but they messed up after delaying it and making the fans angry, still after few years of polishing, was a good game. Rockstar isn't like the rest of the companies. They are stronger, smarter, better! THEY ARE BETTER!!!!

@@thechosenone2123 not crying. Just stating facts on player base and sales. Also I dont play online as I think its Garbage. The fact that they abandoned any and all single player content is angering! Every other GTA title had expansions and content. The Online beast destroyed single player. HOWEVER, I STILL play daily but on Director Mode and is probably the best thing Rockstar ever put in a game. I wish RDR2 had one, which is by far the BEST storyline ever to be told in a game. Other GTA style games just miss the mark on one thing or another. Typically its the small details that you dont realize that make the experience.
I look fwd to possible contenders and I think if anyone can do it, it will be former Rockstar Devs that know how to hit the sweet spot. Until then. GTA reigns supreme.

Dan should hire volition staffs since they have lots of experience but couldn't do what they wanted to do because of their publishser and shut down last year.. they tried to make the new Saints Row more like Saints Row 2.5(just saying SR wasn't that cringe and super power thing back in the day if they didn't know about it) but Deep Silver interfered and well.. you know the rest

*Sleeping Dogs* has way better combat than GTA along with having a better story than most of them.
Admittedly, Rockstar was a much better Company when Dan Houser, and Leslie Benzies were a part of their Team. However, since they have left Rockstar, their Games aren't what they use to be. Their Games are good, and their Titles still bring my attention, but their additional content isn't at the excellent standard that they use to be in my opinion.

There are some other games with a PHENOMENAL story, MW2 and 3, black ops 1 and 2 (definitely not 3) ghost of tsushima has spectacular combat and story plot. There are some others but they struggle to come to mind. But with all that being said, none do everything GTA has done and none have remained relevant for over 10years, the only true competitor is Minecraft, and based on sales it's actually it's superior, but based on relevance GTA stands alone.
