Always remember that Gemma built the technical marvel that is M3gan in her garage in a day with a box of scraps. She is seriously a sleeper Tony Stark. Also the moment I saw BRUCE I knew he was gonna make that assist in the 3rd act! I enjoyed the pay off, it's like Real Steel meets Aliens.

You all sound so silly. Children age at a rapid rate (for obvious reasons); but you do realize that once you complete puberty, and truly enter adulthood (physically), your appearance, for the most part, stays the same for upwards of 25-30 years; maybe longer. Especially, if you're heavily melinated 😉.

It does appear that Gemma is at best indirectly responsible for the deaths of four people and a dog.

Company and David was responsible. Gemma who's also a victim like Katie. But I'm sure Gemma signed a waiver releasing the company from any liability. Pretty much everybody who works for that company would have to. The little boy in the old lady family would have a case against a company. There would be no criminal charges just settlements. Because next week military-industrial complex would be knocking on that company door. And those lawsuits would be sealed emitting no fault.

Or the military will just allow her to be put to jail and then give her a deal, after all a Terminator program would be a black ops regardless. She has to be under constant surveilance after all she is a mad scientist.
She should be arrested and held accountable! But when i watched it, i felt like the tone of the movie left her in a more innocent light. Or maybe she was arrested a second after the ending

You should have been around for the Furby craze. I bought one for my 4-yr old son. It "woke up" as soon as he opened the lid, at which point he screamed like a banshee and ran out of the room. He refused to come back until we'd removed it from the house. So yeah, animatronic dolls are the creepiest thing ever to most people apparently.
You couldnt give me one of those creepy things for free...
I hope the sequel has M3gan downloading herself into furbies, then military tech. It'd be cool to see M3gan acting more emotionally abusive (controlling, manipulative, etc...) to get what it wants. I think it'd be scarier

M3GAN may not be the most terrifying horror movie villain but she is unnerving. She’s smack dab in the uncanny valley and once she starts thinking for herself it’s pretty scary
I enjoyed this movie quite a lot. But I was annoyed at how they framed the aunt. I know so many people who have collectabes. My own aunt had shadowboxes and doll houses we were not allowed to touch. She spent hundreds of dollars on her hobby. That's not bad. They frame the aunt as if she is terrible for having boundaries. Not to mention her sister just died and she doesn't have kids. Like give her time to adjust.

I'm a childfree woman myself and this was my thought. We still haven't gotten past not showing childless/childfree women as selfish monsters. While they started off rough, I commend Gemma for taking the girl in in the first place. I would never have done it. I'm not a kid person and I would make a terrible parent. No sense in having two people suffer.
She also became a guardian overnight. She didn't have 9 months to plan for a kid, then 8 years for her to grow into a child. She was just suddenly a parent. Yeah, that's going to take some time. He ripping open her collectable also hurt me. I collect a lot of stuff and would go ballistic if they were damaged.
It was entirely frustrating that they just glossed over the fact that aunt woukd ALSO be heavily grieving. Maybe not as much as caddy but that was her sister!!! Why was that not a bonding point AT ALL????

As a child that was probably the scariest episodes I think it was maybe three different episodes
To be fair, she left out the 3 laws of robotics and gave Megan crappy instructions on how to function.
I understand she was desperate to not interact with her niece but COME ON! Hiring a nanny would have been easier!

Like you, I assumed the boss's assistant was sending data to a rival company for money and at the end we'd see an army of M3gan's being assembled overseas or something? Though I wouldn't be mad at the sequel going Eve of Destruction with AI terrorizing a family in an automated house.

I cannot see the possible sequel being much more than trash. Recycling the first movie and a couple of other AI scifis and no original ideas. At best it will be barely as good as this but not quite.

Its kinda of sick of me to say, but in response to Megan asking “will I die?” they should have programed a death age for every Megan like 13 years. A predetermined death for each toy. And the option to die early per user request. Sorry dark thought, but its a good solution. And then if people wanted it for longer they can buy a new hard drive, but it would start a new Megan from scratch so they would be completely brand new
Only thing is since its AI it wouldn't want to die thus causing issues

Yeah a real interesting dual angle for boundaries and attachment, if a tragic one under that paradigm
I think it's also an interesting question to posit about the notion of AI and how we will interact with it in time.
We struggle to understand even the human mind and how our children develop. The arrogance of thinking that we can somehow plug an artificial intelligence into that scenario, one that is also built to *imitate* other people and that we're manipulating an adolescent mind that doesn't know better into thinking it is a substitute for real human interaction, and then be surprised when it negatively impacts the development of the child is hilarious in a horrifying way.
We barely understand the boundaries of our own sapience. It's only fitting that, in their arrogance, those scientists and developers would just assume that they can know everything about their creation and that they understand the consequences of attempting to control it. M3GAN didn't even understand the concept of death before they were introducing her to a child whose biggest psychological event in their entire life thus far was the brutal and vivid memories of the death of her parents.
This is what I fear is awaiting us in the next few decades as we dance ever closer to the advent of something resembling the AI of fictional stories like this. Our arrogance and curiosity pushing us into creating something that we can't hope to control, and with no understanding of where we've come from and where we go. Even the first few "learning" algorithms and programs we've built have already been exposed to the absolute dregs of human society, and proven to be radically malleable to a frightening extent.
7:09 As someone who builds computers, it annoys me that the cold plate of the cooler is facing the complete wrong direction. The copper should be touching the cpu, not facing us.
I knew I was in for a campy treat when I found out Megan was directed by the guy who made Housebound. New Zealanders have such a unique sense of humor.
This movie took me by surprise, I loved it a nice blend of creepy and comedy with a great cast
This movie is scary because of the real world implications its story telling.

Megan is a good movie. But the only thing I hated about it, was Gemma not having any emotion after her sister died. Me and my sister were so annoyed with that 😅
Some people handle death differently than others. For the movie they probably should have made her show emotion so the audience could feel her pain more but many people are stuck in shock, or go cry by themselves. My mom is one of those people. She didn’t cry publicly or show any emotion publicly when her mom died.

I thought the same but then again not all siblings are super close and as death happens we tend to deal with it differently. Perhaps she wasn't really close with her sister like that and lived her own life away from the family. Of course she's not thrilled jumping up and down that her sister is dead but she's not overly melodramatic about it I guess. To me it gave off that they were too estranged and distant sisters who have a very indifferent relationship.
Plus, Gemma sorta dived into her job to cope.
The moral of the story: technology is amazing and has so much to offer children but cannot and should not become a babysitter.
The house AI is the same as the AI for her car and is probably on her phone, so Megan probably downloaded a backup of herself into it.
I was trapped outside of the country for a few days due to flight cancellations. I finally flew in and watched this movie on my flight back. Perfect timing to watch this vid

I shudder to think of all the dogs that have been put down due to their owners being absolute wankers who've failed to train them adequately.
When my spouse and I watched this I remember thinking that if Meghan was a real child, she'd probably be dead from where she was bit and how hard the dog shook her.

It's all make sense , the ending and 2.0 in Sequel title , it was M3GAN , she took the Schematics files to herself , just in case if she's gets destroyed , she did got destroyed at the end. We might see M3GAN cloud transferred herself through the internet and hijacked either laboratory or factory ,to build a new 2.0 body , then cloud transferred herself inside her new body , she's now going after Gemma and Cady , mostly Gemma M3GAN is going after and have a revenge against her Creator.

Vicky (The Small Wonder) would have first hit Dewy with a mild micro wave heat ray blast that would send him running away. Then she would easily retrieve the arrow. If Dewey charges again Vicky would hit him with another slightly hotter heat ray blast (but only if necessary). Now Dewey will have an understanding that Vicky has weapons he can't deal with and going forward I believe he will think twice before attacking Vicky. If Dewy continues the heat ray blasts will continue until the pain will be too great for Dewy and then he will stop his attacks!!!

Imagine making a cheaper sentient "Bruce" but, unlike Megan, he has morals and human understanding to go with logic.
I actually liked the fact that Cady got to have her moment in the fight.
This is an excellent summing-up of what I thought was a surprisingly good film! I especially liked Violet McGraw, the little girl who played Cady. She was awesome in that role! I look forward to the sequel!

Gemma is defending getting fired after this but that might be what’s best for her and Cady. I like how there relationship develops though out the film, by they end they seem to have a real connection.

So we just watched Inside. Not sure if it’s a horror movie but it freaked me out of the thought of being stuck in an apartment almost starving, heat stroke, freeze to death. Also, hubby and I both have a different opinions on the ending.

You know its fucking wild that they build Megan with a super strong military grade body, it was meant to be a child's toy, it should've been designed with cheaper more flimsy materials. Most parents cannot afford to spend money on military hardware as a toy for their child.
