I recapped my 3500's a couple of years ago. I used 1% tolerance caps from Parts Express and changed the spring clips to binding posts. The caps made a night and day difference with the way these old Sansui's sounded. They really opened up and had much more presence.

It's also why mids and tweeters blow due to the caps being out of whack.

Looking at caps is just the first step in checking Caps. They are 40 yrs OLD. Replace them already.

These were not my speakers. If I remember right I did end up testing the caps with a ESR meter and they tested ok surprisingly. Customer wasn't interested in paying to having them replaced. Just wanted them working.

Great vid! it is really helping me out. Thank you. How did you remove the spring clips to get at the back of the crossover board?

No need to remove the terminal spring clips. Just remove the nuts from both tone knobs and also unsolder the input terminal connections from the circuit board.

You have to desolder the spring clips from the terminals on the board. Then undo the pot nuts and then the screws holding the board in. When I did mine I also put better terminals on the back. Those terminals aren’t real good.

I just got a pair of these and unfortunately have a blown woofer. Tested it with a multimeter, totally dead. Any idea where I might be able to find a replacement?

Great videos but that head mount camera is terrible. Please invest in a tripod.

Man, that head camera is not a good idea at all. Your head movements do not relay a proper camera movements. People get dizzy and in the end we throw up 🤔
