Ubisoft really decided this week to become the most hated company in the gaming industry
Ubisoft revoked EA's crown for most hated company.
I disagree, because I think EA and Ubisoft are actually the same company.
Ubisoft has been working towards that for many years already.
These companies have more than proven that they hate money. Update the game with a 4K 60 offline patch and call it The Crew Definitive Edition. Release it for free for all owners and $20 bucks for new players. It's not rocket science.
They were already there
10:35 No ubisoft is not testing the boundaries of digital ownership. They are testing the boundaries of people's patience.
So they're pulling a Nintendo.😅
This is such a gamer, Karen comment
@@nicholasnajibi3082 stfu your part of the problem if you defend this sh*t!

Time for a boycott?
Ubisoft removing ownership of the Crew is precisely why an all digital future is a bad omen for gaming (i also wish we could go back to an age where a disc wasn't essentially just a "Key" to play a game)
Only a few exceptions like Elden Ring or Metal Gear Solid Collection for PS5 requires downloads. Otherwise, most Nintendo Switch first and third party cartridges still come with the whole game and I’d say 95% of the PS5 physical games out there can be played and beaten without the additional updates.
@cbgg1585 go away crypto bot
Key is just shitty companies like Activision and Ubisoft.
Check Doesitplay more than 85% play fine without internet or mandatory update
@@cbgg1585I'm actually surprised. This is the first comment I've seen from you that isn't about successful investments off of foolish gamers 😂
But yeah, I agree from what I've heard.
@@Sacren365 I'll give Nintendo credit there, they actually take the time to reprint a majority of their games with the latest patches or close to it, they will certainly be the last hold outs for physical media
Ubisoft really can’t get in the press for anything good, can they.
And yet, I am still benefitting as an investor over the last 10 odd years and they are still one of the few AAA computations with not as much lay offs.
Contrary to what you may believe, they are still benefiting financially.
Believe me I was I was in your shoes, and they’re probably doing good, just saying they’ve had a bad public image as of recent.
It's by design. All the AAA companies are terrible for the industry. STOP GIVING THEM YOUR MONEY
@@NULLZER0112 really? I think Nintendo is doing great things for the industry. They’re innovators, they’ve had no layoffs, and have been releasing consistent and quality releases for (mostly) fair prices. I think they’re well deserving of my money.
@@cbgg1585 Ubisoft stock is down -74.13% over the last past 5 years so investors are definitely not gaining anything from Ubisoft’s bad public image
Well if buying something is not ownership then pirating is not stealing.
At the very least, a lot of people seem to give an ethical pass to piracy when you're unable to purchase something because it isn't available where you live. So, if you want to own a game but it isn't technically for sale to be "bought" in any meaningful sense...
At this point I 100% agree, at least when it comes to AAA companies, they don't deserve a dime, only devs that do are Indie
The Crew situation makes me feel like I should send Ubisoft a thank you letter.
I was actually talking to a friend yesterday about the new StarWars and how I was kinda interested, but that Ubisoft logo was giving me some pause.
I think they just saved me 70$
And with that, I'm never buying another Ubisoft game again.
Agreed.
Start buying indie games and AA games.
Also, have you watched Murder Drones, Lackadaisy, and The Amazing Digital Circus?
Agreed.
Last one I bought was Wolfenstein
Then you better not buy any digital game from any developer or publisher.
The licenses that you are buying are neither irrevocable nor perpetual.
@@LainK1978 I try to always buy physical media, but sadly that's not always possible. Regardless, consumers should criticize companies that revoke their licenses arbitrarily and without prior notice.
Ubisoft doing this while their upcoming game is getting decimated online is chefs kiss
Ubisoft taking away peoples keys to games? Imagine my surprise as a person whos had this happen to for games I owned on steam but required ubisofts login stuff for SP games and know friends who have had similar had game keys revoked and told to rebuy the game if you want to play it just because you didn't play the game in a long enough time. This isn't new to ubisoft.
It isn't even new to gaming, or software in general.
You aren't buying a game you are buying a license to use their software.
Until that system changes and you aren't buying a license anymore then this will keep happening.
Is that going to happen anytime soon? Probably not no, the implications for software are too big.
Was the game single player offline
@@zerosam5541 My only Ubisoft game I own is Farcry 3 Dragons Blood that a friend gifted me which then required to sign in with their service. I was like nah not gonna bother with that now. Then years later, can't play it. One of my friends I forget what game it was for them. I'd have to ask but I'm pretty sure its SP since he mostly only streams SP games so he's a very SP oriented gamer, so most likely another SP game.
@@gundamwarrior The problem here was probably not connecting with the Ubisoft Service until the license to the key has run out. That's f*cked up, but nothing new from Ubisoft, you need Ubisoft Connect for their PC games, even though you have it on Steam.
Im gonna miss the "they found some 3DSs in the back" jokes.
I want a sci fi movie about a post apocalyptic world where a gamer wanders the hellscape in search of consoles where people had downloaded all the updates for the games he wants to play.
He has all the physical copies he just needs a working console with all the patches and hot fixes? I'd watch it.
Nah this actually sounds interesting 😂id watch it in cinema.
That is some dumb, CZcams generation gamer, thoughts
Were doing that now its just pre apocalyptic
I'd be the side protagonist in search for old consoles like N64s or Dreamcasts. the eternal hunger for physical games.
The Ubi subreddit mods must be on the payroll--they deleted the thread and all comments. They really don't want consumers to see the dark side of the "live service" economy.
A law needs to be put in place that these companies have to sell a physical working game not reliant on the internet. These digital take backs are super shady and dirty.
There are no gaming companies. Your under a spell of the illusion of a choice. The government owns all video games. Your being herded into a greater goal. Transhumanism
Stop buying those. If you enough people hit them in their wallets, they learn. But too many people suffer from fomo from the diamond incrusted turds they love to CONSUUM!
@@Greg-gr5bbGod, I hope indie game developers and AA game studios will save physical media of video games.
We don't need more laws, we need less.
Simply, offline mode for all games should be legally implemented.
The digital push from these companies will only happen if we the consumer let it, if you care about owning your entertainment on physical media formats and have access to them anytime without a company or platform removing it you should never let these companies remove access to something that you paid for, plus for future generation we should preserve them on something tangible like a disc or any physical media format.
Ubisoft revoking licences sounds like a direct response to the "Stop Killing Games" campaign in order to prevent people from having easy access to their proof of ownership
The laws have to change to protect the consumer, the future is digital
Crazy how companies have more rights then people at this point. We need something for game preservation in general.
@@64supermarioreturnsI am debt free due to these companions via the equities portfolio.

Ubisoft is making EA look like a decent gaming company at this point
I'm sorry but Ubisoft is worse than EA at its lowest point. Even Surprise Mechanics isn't as bad as what Ubisoft is doing these days
Nah, EA is still the axis of Evil, they just don't SHOUT it from the rooftops the way Ubislop does. Giving them a single point for "tact" puts them at -54,230 overall. Not exactly a "ringing endorsement" imo.
At least EA still makes a good game or two every so often.
When was the last time Ubisoft made anything even decent?
Ubisoft is everything I hate about modern gaming.
Something tells me Ubisoft has never heard of the Streisand Effect
Guys it might be time to just pack it up and leave for awhile from these big companies. I've been checked out from a lot (not all) of the big stuff for years and it's totally fine. There are enough video games to play that aren't like that, or are from the past. You have games for decades. If enough people quit, they'd squeeze more money out of those who haven't, but eventually they'll run dry.
Sing it with me, my siblings!
If buying isn’t owning, pirating isn’t stealing.
You've been reported to the FBI
You’d think a company that’s overall struggling would stop shooting themselves in the foot, I for one will not be buying any Ubisoft games until they straighten up their act.
I'm still wondering why Bethesda never ported Fallout 3 or New Vegas to the switch. It seemed so obvious.
Not made by Bethesda and from what I hear they hate it.
Because it's not worth the pennies they will make. New Vegas is a cult classic but wasn't the money maker 4 was
I’m hoping it’ll be on the Switch 2 early on. With MS going multi platform this is a no brainer for $$$
Lol the switch couldn't handle it. So you can play it at 480p at 24fps. Just get an Xbox or PC.
@@garfunkle5447 the 360 could just handle fo3 and nv, i think the switch could pull it off if it can handle skyrim which had similar hw requirements
I am one of those that keep playing the Stellar Blade demo over and over. Still every time I watch someone else play it I there’s something new I haven’t seen. It really is a great demo. Reminds me of simpler times.
I downloaded it and I'm gonna check it out soon
Ubisoft is one of those companies that I would NOT shed a tear if gets bankrupt or shut-down in the not distant future.
I say, if we're going to a time when you can't own games anymore, they should at least give you an expiration date
This is not the dawn of digital ownership, but the dawn of digital pirating and the dusk of massif online gaming
With $70 price that gets pushed on games now a days, you would think that there would be more justification to release multi-disc physical copies more often and less excuse to say "it's too expensive"
The warning signs of what an all digital future will be like is becoming all too obvious. This should make more gamers support physical media.
Honestly, the NSO line-up is a really cool selection of hidden gems. I honestly think people should actually just give these a shot instead of immediately writing them off because these aren't "big games," when obviously Nintendo has no more big games they can really get for NES and SNES
Nah

The absolute nerve of Ubisoft is breathtaking.
Unfortunately, since there's no direct law against revoking licenses and there's probably something in the EULA, developers will revoke licenses to paid games if it benefits them. However if a specific developer does this often, gamers might just flat out boycott all releases from said developer in case it happens again.
I'm surprised it still doesn't exist in Europe.
Actually there is since January 2022. European people have the right to refund their digital purchase for full price if they cannot get access to their license. I'm very surprised that out of all the big company's it's European Ubisoft who plays with the fire that is called EU law. Maybe european owners of the Crew actually got a refund automatically without them noticing. It would explain that their license vanished because that is part of the refund process.

Thanks again for the mention! You talking about exploratory territory into the legality of Ubisoft's actions is exactly what we're aiming for. As for my twitter comment, I get your logic, but the wizards among us who can (maybe) create server emulators would have had their copy long before having it revoked anyway. The reason I'm not focusing on it as much is because if Ubisoft lost on that, then all that would happen would be is that they're required to give you access to a bricked game, but can still brick your game. It's weird right. Company taking away something you already own. If you're no longer able to get it and you lose access as well, what's left? Well downloading the game somewhere else... As we head to an all digital future it seems like piracy will only increase as people are literally forced to download a delisted game as it becomes impossible to actually purchase anywhere legitimately. So strange.
You don't own the game though. You own a license to access the game, that they can revoke anytime. Sony removed a bunch of TV Shows that people bought in Germany some months ago. They revsered some of them I recall but some are still gone even if you purchased them.
The same is true of physical, you don't own the software. You own the disk, which acts as a license to access the software but the diffyis they can't take it away from you unless they patch a kill switch to the console or make it reliant on online activation.
As for piracy, it exists but is becoming harder and harder. Denuvo is very good and new consoles are hard to pirate. It will still exist but the industry is getting better and better at reducing it especially at the AAA level where they use the high level version of Denuvo and those games are getting cracked later and less and less.

Companies that are taking away keys to games and making games "internet/ online only" When They Dont Need To Be, should be getting sued in class action for at least Fraud let alone the mental anguish they have caused for many.
You can create a Japanese account and download the Japanese versions of the NES, SNES etc and use your regular account to launch it and play the games only on the Japanese region ones.
I don’t think I’ll trust Ubisoft with any game purchases going forward
This is why physical it’s the way to have access to games long term
Not necessarily, pretty much all games are incomplete without updates these days. They can also lock physical games out. If you buy a GT Sport disc right now isn't it pretty much unusable without updates?
@@jjgator205 95% of the games work completely fine without any updates.
GT Sport is one of the weaker entry's of the series. So not much value has been lost. GT 4 was peak. And that's still fully preserved on disc.
Where did you get 95 percent? Most games need updates these days or they play like shit. Nobody releases games that are actually finished anymore.
@@jjgator205 Untrue ! Most games will work fine without patches. Unless the box says internet required, it will work completely fine off the disc. I have completed so many games without ever touching the internet.
@@jjgator205 for a fact all Nintendo games are on cartridge and most Sony on blu ray disc
The NSO having like two hundred games is very anemic when you realize that there are over 7000 games in total from all of the systems it has. And then, the companies have the gall to go after emulation and roms.
The thing about using FFVII Rebirth as a comparison, is that people don't want to spoil an RPG. Literally about 3/4's of all active users in FFVII groups said that they WILL NOT be playing the demo because they didn't want to spoil the first time experience with the ACTUAL game. I decided to skip the demo for the exact same reasons, and I've been waiting for Remake / Rebirth + Final Entry since 1997.
I’m gonna miss seeing the 3DS on the sales charts.
Ubisoft is making it real easy for me to want to stick with physical media. As well as not buy any of their games.
Not if you want to play a lot of Ubisoft games unfortunately. They are leaning into the whole “internet required to install the game” nonsense for physical releases. The upcoming Star Wars game is that way
@@adamthiry868 Well it’s a good thing I have little to no interest in Ubisoft’s titles.
Eventually the lock will be broken by someone. It always happens eventually. Ring 0 isn't perfect, because there is no such thing as bulletproof code.
Support physical and retail !
We're in the minority. 90% buys Digital, and they will continue to do so.
@@DeadPhoenix86DP I know, this is why we need to communicate this, supporting physical games is for the benefit of the hobby
It's not about an argument, A is better than B, everything has pros and cons, it's about having a healthy hobby for everyone
@@iznax9 Yeah, I agree. Physical media should continue to exist. I buy everything Physical myself.
I just replayed it for the first time since 2015 on Steam Deck a couple months ago. It’s still weak as a RPG, but the gameplay still holds up really well. I was blown away by how well it performed on Deck.
Remember when you brought a game it was the full game and it didnt require the internet.
I did that last week.
The new generation of gamers do not really care about game preservation, and they’ll soon regret it.
Lmao, regret? Not everyone is
like you and can comfortably live without video games. It’s called going out and touching grass. Should there be laws updated to protect consumers? Sure. But let’s be real, everyone always has a choice of not buying digital and no sane individual is losing sleep over game preservation.
No sane individual would lose sleep over game preservation.
As an equities investor of 10+ years and a gamer, if my bottom line is continually met then I’m good. If not, I am debt free anyway and can still enjoy games (particularly physical). Win-win.
Physical or digital, I really don’t care.
Regret it? Doubt it.
@@cbgg1585 it wont be continuous if they keep laying off the devs making their product and hiring the cheaper green ones and gutting their products then telling the customer to get bent. Eventually people stop buying, and the company folds or gets bought and dissolved. Then the ones who were booted go on to do things their way, starting as a skeleton crew working out of passion for the craft and people go to them instead. Laugh now, atari thought they were too big to fail, this is a sign of a storm coming for ubi specifically because a jenga tower eventually falls when you pull out the foundation trying to make it taller. The difference between sustainable growth and reinvestment versus number go up at any costs is long term viability. Look at ubi's stock ticker over the last several years and look how the spike becomes a cliff multiple times over.
Remember that we have enjoyed retro games from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, because we did not have digital games and we actually owned our games.
We are allowing all these game developers and console platforms are moving towards an all digital future without almost no pushback from gamers.
From a legal perceptive if it says buy or purchase or buy now then that overrides the fine print if it says lease. Courts have already reviewed this in the past on other issues and said a company cannot mislead the customer. That would be like a car company saying you're purchasing a car but then putting in the fine print that it's a lease and later after you pay 40 grand for it they come and pick it up in 3 years. The fine print does not override the original sale purchase.
Ubisoft just killed any hope of me ever purchasing a game from their glorified highly expensive rental service.
NSO needs to drop Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, and FF6.
3 Classic games that would actually get played.
Don't really hear people mention Secret of Evermore so much. Was a fun rpg, some good childhood memories back in mid 90s.
I doubt FF 6 will get ported since the pixel remasters but you never know. My vote is chrono trigger
I just want Quintet’s catalog added to the Super Nintendo service. I need to be able to play Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and the two Actraiser titles on my Switch. Also, I really want to finally be able to play Terranigma without having to emulate it.
That's most likely all dependant on Square Enix and is probably out of Nintendo's control. Also, as has been pointed out, it's doubtful that FF6 will be added since it's already available on Switch via the Pixel Remasters. Same with Secret of Mana since that's also already on Switch via Collection of Mana. As for Secret of Evermore, Square kinda tends to pretend that game doesn't exist. In fact, given that it was never released in Japan, a lot of modern Square Enix developers may genuinely not even know it exists.
@@ericriley1985 that…. Hurts. I didn’t know evermore wasn’t released in Japan. Explains why I never hear it mentioned.

Fallout 4 is my favorite Fallout. It has a 87 on metacritic which is a great score.
