WELL DONE ! You have soo simplified the making of whipped soap for us. Thanks so much. I too grew up on Ivory & hated it - the strong burning smell, the film that it leaves on the water, tub, sink. Blech. Have you noticed the borage of Ivory ads lately? They also have a TV comm. balking at fancy soaps to suggest that their good old fashioned basic soap reigns NOT! They couldnt give it away in my opinion. Thanks again

Once this type of whipped soap sets up, it becomes hard. What you may be refering to is cream soap which is made with sodium hydroxide + potassium hydroxide. We will have a class on the cream soap too.

Yes, you can use tallow. Be sure to run it through your soap calc to get the proper lye/water ratio.

did you know that if you microwave a bar of Ivory soap it will grow into this spiky strange looking alien soap?

I love watching your video's. I have learned a lot from you and other soapers. I am ready to give it a try. I am gathering my ingredient to try my first batch. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the lessons. I'll keep watching!

We have tried 2 recipes (one with goats milk and lye) for icing some CP cupcakes, and both have worked well.
Your lesson was such a help.
We made whipped lye (lard) soap today. will unmold Wed. and cut Fri. Will let everyone know how that came out.
We are thinking of creating a line of 100% whipped soaps forkids.
    Thanks again,
    Ashley & Mark

It takes longer to cure because it does not gel. Allow 4-6 weeks. You should be able to unmold in 24 hours.

since this was cold lyle how long do you have to let it set up before you unmold it. Also does it take the same amount of time to cure? I love your videos. Thank you for sharing.

The lye solution should be cold but the oils should be at room temperature. Pretty sure you can't over whip them. What oils did you use?

  • @umfedaa

whats the difference between whipped soap and cream soap?

  • @joesoap920
    @joesoap920 Před 12 lety +1

I think I did a couple of things wrong. The oils were cold - for hard oils I used palm, coconut, Shea butter and Apricot Kernal and my liquid oils were Castor and Olive. The other thing was I used a fragrance oil which just completely seized. I've tried the same oils again but with a different fragrance and it was much more successful, but I think again my oils were too cold. So batch 3 today, and hopefully more success!

I understand every step of this process except this one: 0% Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) Amount 1.493oz. What does this mean? I am using Crystalline Lye, so how much lye and water should I mix to get the correct liquid lye amount? And why is it 0% Lye? I would appreciate if anybody knows the answer to this question.

Hi Catherine , I have tried already twice this formula and actually the second end up worst than the first! I cannot find crisco or any other shortening in Greece (where I'm at the moment) so I decided to replace it with more palm oil....the mix became hard very quickly! I Only did one cupcake!!! I noticed the disaster and placed the rest on molds...any other recipe I could try without shortening? Any other reason why this could be happening ? Help!!!

Will this discolor the same way as regular cp if you use a vanilla scent? Thanks

  • @joesoap920

I had a go at doing some whipped soap, using 80% hard oils and 20% liquid oils, but it set really hard within a few minutes - I'm not sure if I overwhipped the oils, as my mixture was much stiffer than you show in your video - should I have beat it less, or could it have been a problem with the fragrance?

  • @strastube

My question is what product do you recommend to get a true lipstick/Christmas red in CP soap? Also which vanilla fragrance product do you recommend to use with that will brown the soap the least amount? I know they all will brown, but I'm looking for one that maybe doesn't brown as much as others.
One more question - I'm still struggling to find the best way to keep my batter as liquid as possible while pouring with multiple colors in order to do swirls. What advice do you have?

If I add the whipped soap to a cp cupcake soap that has already saponified, how long do I need to let it set before I can use it?
And since it does not heat up more, how does it finish?

if you didnt let the whipped soap cure before attaching it to your cupcakes you have to let the whole thing cure for 4-6 weeks its still uncured soap and it cures much slower than cp so you dont want to give any1 soap that might hurt their skin

I'm not trying to start a animal fats v. veg oils fight but what makes animal fats so good for soaping? it disgusts me to think of using animal fat in soap - rubbing supperfatted soap with animal fat on my skin? i guess it's just not for me. i don't care what other people do, however. i wonder if it's the cholesterol in animal fats that make them so luxurious in soap since cholesterol only exists in animals and not significantly in plants.
