Great work Marc. In your own words 'a job wel'done'. 🙂
Thanks Darren appreciate that yes definitely a big job off the list for sure 👍
The mug look great
Thanks 😀
looking good, nice repairs
Cheers thanks buddy! Thanks for watching 👍
Love these videos . Fingers crossed I’ll have my first mini in twenty years soon …. Kinda gives me an idea of what I’m in for 😂
Hey glad your enjoying them. Yes this is a very common area. I did do a video on what to look for if that helps? All the best with your project 👍
Wow congrats on 6k that’s amazing!
Thank you so much buddy thanks for supporting the channel 👍
Great video as always!
Cheers thanks buddy 👍
Fantastic video once again moving along nicely with progress and wish I never got rid of my project when I lost my storage space everytime I see you work on the minis just bring back the time I had mine 😀
Thanks Curtis glad you enjoyed the video. I have been there so many times having to sell projects due to loosing storage etc. It’s so annoying hopefully one day you get another.
@@SimpsonsClassics yourwelcome I sure did enjoy watching and yeah it really is annoying maybe this time round I will be able to buy and be able to maintain storage space maybe get a cheap unit for my self too where I can keep them.
@@curtiswilcock5628 fingers crossed for the future then buddy 👍
Love it 👌 Iv got the shock mounts to do on mine and haven’t took them off yet 😂 least I know how to repair them 💪 nothing like this is ever a boring video
Cheers Harvey, all the best with your project this isn’t a hard repair to do but definitely worth doing and nice and rewarding. Cheers for watching 👍
great to see mate cracking progress and help .. I thought there was not alot of room under the 87 the spi is really tight under the bonnet with boosters etc .keep up the good work mate .top job
Thanks buddy it’s nice to make a proper start on this one. Time to get the the other side done and crack on with some bigger panels. Definitely not a lot of room in an spi engine bay.
@@SimpsonsClassics I'd say the mpi is worse . Glad to see you have reduced the risk of massive electric shock ten fold with the new workshop .. have stuck myself to an ark welder more than once in damp conditions 😂
I'm just catching up on this series Marc, and enjoying it. But, please, when drilling sheet metal pieces don't rely on holding them down by hand: clamp them down. It only takes a few seconds and prevents what can be very serious accidents. Best wishes.
Cheers for watching appreciate the comments. 👍
Always love seeing it - ALWAYS instructional for me - so seeing it slow mo / normal speed once is great, but then a timelapse of it again is always good as it serves as a reminder and concretes the knowledge (that's the teacher in me coming out).
Thanks Chris appreciate that glad your enjoying the content. I will do my best to do a little bit of both. 👍
Excellent video as always. Never boring don’t worry. Can’t wait for the next one. Mark.
Cheers appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it stay tuned for more 👍
I think I would have put one thick patch in that shock mount.
Boring?? How can watching a man with skills I'll never have be boring? Really not, I really enjoy seeing cars coming together.
Thanks Graeme I appreciate that. Glad your enjoying it just didn’t want to be repeating myself but you all seem to love the progress 👍
Looking like another superb job mate👍. The work shop is looking brilliant too. 😁
Thanks the workshop is definitely coming along. Glad your enjoying the build also. Thanks for watching 👍
Great work as always! The inner wing is looking like new👍
Cheers thanks buddy 👍
Great to see the welder back out. Thanks for showing the inner wing mount repair 👌🏻. I'll do my best to follow yours. I'd still love to see you weld up the n/s even though others think it's boring. The more content the better I say 😀😀. Also I'm going to dm you about minimine for some panels. I'd like to know your thoughts if that's ok?
Hey Rick glad you have enjoyed the video I will do my best to document the other side as much as I can. Like I say this is the way I do it and it’s worked for many years it’s a rewarding repair to do. Not a problem happy to run through panels etc with you 👍
For £30 if that’s all the inner wings are I think I would change them if I could weld like you. I’m still terrified of any welding but gonna have to learn! Ahahahhaha. Watching out for a good deal on a used welder to practice. But!!!!! I have started!
Buy a cheap welder and just go for it. That what I did had never welded in my life. The first couple welds are going to look like garbage but you get the hang of it. My welds are not perfect but they stick together.
Yea the Flitch repair panels from magnum really aren’t bad at all. Just need a little mucking about to get them to fit. So yes definitely have a go nothing scary just take your time 👍
Great video. I’ve spied your stash of Frosts weld through primer cans. You certainly have a shelf full.
Cheers buddy. Yes we are stocked up and got some more bits to get yet. Should keep us busy 👍
Great video mini inner wing looking solid Great job 👍
Cheers Steven glad you enjoyed it. Well happy with the results. 👍
You look like your either extremely tired or like me now a few beers were involved 😂😂😂
Burning the candle at both ends I think buddy 🤣
Tips: if you don't already. Use a cutting disc (thin ones) on the grinder to knock the welds down, such a time saver in comparison to using a flap wheel or grinding disc, also helps keep heat out of the panels. Look into using sanding discs with a backing pad, can go as low as 24 grit flats out welds quickly.
Last one 😂 , if you know where you are cutting out a patch to repair, clean the area to be welded prior to cutting it out as when u clean the edge after it can put a knife edge on it taking away the thickness to weld
Hey thanks for the tips as ever. Yes I do use think cutting disc trick to get welds down it’s definitely handy for those hard to get places for sure. Thanks for watching and the tips are always welcome cheers 👍
looks good.👍 I bought and installed some pattern outer front wings recently, the modifications needed to get the bonnet gaps right were immense, Customer supplied them otherwise I would have chosen the heritage ones. Never fitted complete inner wings before perhaps they fit better than the outer wings?
Thanks Ben. Yes I have definitely been there before also with pattern front panels they are a nightmare check out the 99 cooper sports pack playlist you will see that. As for inner wings you am only buy heritage ones so they should fit nice. We have a full heritage front for this car should be nice to do. Cheers for watching 👍
Cheers for the info 👍
@@Ben-Dixey no worries 👍
Hi. Great video. As mentioned on FB we are going down a similar roadwith ours. One thing always confuses me though. Door braces! wonder if you ever get to the stage if you advise best position for and how many support braces are needed. We only have one 25mm box section length in each door apature tack welded onto the inner A and b pillars. Sills and floor sections going to be replaced but cutting out one side at a time and replaceing like for like as we go (well thats the plan!) The more we keep digging the bigger the parts list gets! Keep it up mate , we are also based in the NW.
Hi David, sounds like we are at a similar place in the projects. Yes I will cover bracing the car a little once I get to the floors on this one. But yes some decent box section across the door opening is more than enough, depending on how much you plan to cut. If you check and the blue clubman estate out we braced that car to do the floors
@@SimpsonsClassics Hi Thanks - just got to get welding now. Jealous of your new workshop ,have to do everything under a gazebo.
another cracking installment! Good to see james in the video :D he must be happy with the progress being done. We have seen you do inner wings before but i think its still really good to see them per car as each car is different, and it documents the prgress with each car on your channel. Even if its a before to show the condition and damage and an after once the work is done So we can see the inprovements. Worth showing off that your saving parts rather than replacing for sure. :D Keep em coming man. Amazing content as usual! Making me want to get back out to the garage and do more work on mine! haha
Hey thanks buddy appreciate that glad you have enjoyed the content so far. I will definitely continue to show as much as I can to create a nice playlist for the car. 👍
The last time I had a mini was 1971 (so we didn’t have fuel injection in those days!) so how powerful is a Mayfair engine Marc?
You know I love a 70’s mini. I believe the factory power is like 53-56bhp not completely sure. They drive lovely it’s the same engine as in our blue sidewalk. 👍
How do you not get manky? I only need to look at a car in my workshop and I look like I’ve done a shift down in the coal mine. 😀
Haha I guess me PPE is working. Or the colours I wear don’t show the dirt! But definitely know what you mean lol 😂
