That game took twenty years off my life. Worth every year lost. That was the greatest moment in my life sports related. Almost two years later and I still have a tough time believing the Cubs did it.

Same here, only slept about 2 hours then had to work the next day. Every Cubs fan knows that Harry Carey, Ron Santos and Ernie Banks were looking down from heaven.

Game 7 drew 40 million viewers. the highest rated WORLD SERIES game in television history.

Duriel. Correction and sorry to sound like a jerk. Just facts. The '16 world series game #7 is among the highest rated ever(at least in the 21st Century its the highest.) However 1)game #6 1980 Phillies/Royals 2)Mets/Red Sox game #7 1986 and 3)Twins/Braves game 6 1991 World Series game 7. In this era of 100-plus channels and the rival networks showing new shows in the middle of the new Fall season (the super bowl is basically unopposed) for this all time classic to get 40-million plus viewers in the US (plus tens of millions more worldwide)and a 25 rating, in this day in age is a remarkable rating in 2016/'17. Even the season finales of American Idol in it's heyday in the early 2000's never got the almost super bowl rating numbers that this game got.

I would put Game 7 Red Soxs, Reds '75 up there. 75M Fewer Americans and TV ownership was not as great as today so if you put some sort of "Inflation" figures that '75 WS has to be top 5.

  • @GTAnativeInXboxAndPlayStation

That game 7 was legendary! Go Cubs!

Doesn't matter what anyone says. It would not have meant anything close to Indians fans as it has to Cubs fans. Cleveland has some great fans, but Cubs fan are special. The other sports teams in Chicago that have won were great, but there's something different about the Cubs.

Well said, Costas. It wouldn't have made sense to have it played anywhere else. Baseball is life!!!

Yup and Costas called the 97 WS Game 7 when the Indians lost to the Marlins so game 7 isnt new to him

_+bisp25, I'm a diehard Cub fan, a Theo and Maddon fan, and I agree from late in Game 6 through 7. We won't recall it all in horror, but, still, it'll be tough to forget. We will remember Maddon going madman, starting with putting in Chapman in Game 6 with a 5-run lead. Pulling out a hot Hendricks. Putting in Lester with a man on. Taking Lester out as he got hot. Etc. etc. Most extreme in overcautious managing. Maddon is a great manager, strategist, innovator, but he lost his senses starting with last 1/2 of game 6. If the Cubs lost, to summarize what Costas said, Maddon would be the permanent goat (and I don't mean GOAT). My hope is that Joe knows he made mistakes and then learns from them. Still a great manager. I love the way he plays with the lineup, the positioning of players, his experimenting, his off-field approach to players.

Frank Cohen What matters is that the cubs won because the player overcame so much in game 7 hopefully Joe learned from his mistakes so the cubs can repeat
