    My father went to all 7 games. As a born and raised Cubs fan and an almost 70-year-old at that time, the Cubs winning that year was one of the greatest moments in his life

      I wish my dad would have seen this but sadly passed away a year before. He is what made me a Cubs fan. Sat on his lap as a little girl every time they were on. I don't live in Chicago anymore but my heart is always there. Now looking forward to their next win, which I know will happen eventually

      My father passed about 10 years before the Cubs won. He was a Cub fan probably much like your father. He indoctrinated me into being a Cub fan almost at birth. I was grateful to have see them win. I cried like a baby when they won. I know a few of my tears of joy, were his from heaven.

      Same here, many of us shed a tear of happiness not just for ourselves, but for those before us. My Dad and especially my Grandfather were fans. Once my Grandfather retired, he never missed a game, he would put on his Cubs cap and pull a chair up in front of his TV set. I think there is a special field of dreams (a Wrigley Field)in heaven for all those fans who tirelessly and faithfully cheered them on all their lives without ever seeing them go all the way. Go Cubs go! Hey hey! and Holy Cow!

      Same, it was my grandma though. She prayed for years and years for the Cubs to win and yet they never did. Still she had faith for 80 years that her beloved Cubs would go all the way. That night I rejoiced and cried buckets. As soon as Rizzo caught that ball I was in tears. I know grandma was watching from heaven.

      Madden pulled him out too early. I really think he was high during this game.
      Pulling Kyle Hendricks out too early he could’ve gotten out of the inning and the cubs would’ve had a 5-1 lead going into the 5th
      Overused Chapman
      After the Indians tied the game he let him go back on the mound in the 9th inning
      If he played it smart this game would’ve been 6-2 cubs but at the end of the day the cubs won this and that’s all the matters to me

      @stephenkammerling9479 Před 2 lety +5

      @@gocubbies6577 I totally agree. Hendricks had best ERA in National League. Give him a chance to get out of inning! If he gives up another hit or two or walk, I understand pulling him. That walk that got Hendricks pulled could easily have been a strike out. Final pitch was very close. I'm not upset with umpire. He had a tight strike zone all night for both teams.
      As soon as Cubs acquired Chapman, Maddon would frequently bring him in in 8th inning. It's like Maddon had a new toy and couldn't put it down. He brought Chapman in eighth inning against both Giants and Dodgers in NL playoffs. It didn't work well either time. The game either was tied or opposition(Giants) took lead. Giants would eventually win game, extending series, while in game 1 of NLCS Cubs hitters would bail Maddon out with 5 run rally in 8th. The players saved Maddon's but again in world series again with their clutch hitting. When Chapman went out to pitch bottom of ninth, I thought I was going to see Mazoroski 2, but Chapman, to his credit managed to retire Cleveland in order. Thankfully Chapman wasn't sent out to pitch the 10th.

    • @stephenkammerling9479
      @stephenkammerling9479 Před 2 lety +2

      Having seen Chapman fail with Yankees since 2016, we should be grateful he didn't cost Cubs the World Series when they had him.

    • @stephenkammerling9479
      @stephenkammerling9479 Před 2 lety

      I failed to mention that Maddon also brought Chapman in with 1 out in eighth of deciding game 6 with Cubs up 5-0. Hendricks gave up 1 out single after retiring about 20 in a row, give or take a couple. It worked that time, other than more needless wear and tear on Chapman. He promptly got out of eighth with a double play. He faced only 3 batters in ninth, thanks to game ending double play after 1 out walk. Dodgers sent only 27 batters to the plate. All their baserunners were either eliminated in double plays or picked off. They got only 2 hits. Still Maddon pulled Hendricks in eighth. I wonder if that was only second time in post season history a team sent minimum number of batters to plate. The other time, of course, was Larsen's perfect game in 1956 World Series. The late Roy Halladay pitch a no hitter in 2010 playoffs, but I think he allowed a few baserunners.

    I watch this when I need to remind myself how fast life is and can be taken from you in a instant. I am one of the biggest cubs fans you'd ever meet. I just had my son March 13, 2016 and I am a combat vet and I had a bad problem, an opiate issue and failing the ones around me. I was at my 2nd rehab when the cubs were in the world series, I remember being the only one up when that last ball was hit by Martinez and Bryant slipped and threw a pee and Rizzo caught the ball and put it in his back pocket! These grown men jumping around like a bunch of kids! I was crying by myself on a step in Florida. My ex wife was at home with my son and I was miles away not understanding life! I was asking myself how did I end up here? I didn't have an answer, best day of my life is the birth of my son and Nov 2, 2016 I believe the day they won it! God sometimes I don't have faith or believe or understand life but this reminds me how real it is! This team change my life in way I can't even put into words.

    Came back to watch this in 2021 because the Cubs just traded Rizzo, Bryant, and Baez. The entire 2016 team except for Contreas and maybe a few others are now gone and I can’t help but cry

    Rizzo is amazed, I was too. This was anyone’s game. I’m just happy they won. Go cubs!
