The next one is probably my favourite in the whole series, From Russia With Love. It’s a true Hitchockian, Cold War spy thriller. It amps up the suspense by a lot and has some pretty modern themes for its time.

Jack Lord was Steve McGarrett on the original Hawaii and 5-0.
Yeah, this is just the first one so it's completely introductory. With each movie, the budget gets bigger and bigger so stuff like "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" and "You Only Live Twice" are huge spectaculars because by then the "franchise" was in full swing, guaranteed blockbuster money makers. Great reaction!
Excited you guys are embarking on this series. Great fun. The series REALLY hits its stride with the third film, Goldfinger, in terms of what we’ve come to expect from Bond films. Although the next one, From Russia With Love, has some great stuff in it. And, yes, Jack Lord starred in the original Hawaii Five-O tv series.
Dr Julius No is so named because he shuns his father and his father's name. So instead of his father's surname he made it No. Was from Formosa (Taiwan).
He was a SPECTRE recruit from China but branched out on his own.
Wonderful stuff! This is a very ambitious idea of reacting to every Bond film, AND I AM HERE FOR IT! Some of them I have never seen before, so it’ll be a treat watching them with you!
In the Miss Marple TV adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel A Caribbean Mystery they sort of have a crossover with a cameo of a writer called Ian Fleming. He sits next to Miss Marple at a lecture by an ornithologist and introduces himself that he's an ex Royal Navy officer and currently writing spy stories at his house in Jamaica called Goldeneye. That he can't seem to find an apt name for his gentleman spy.
Miss Marple tells him that he might find inspiration in the most unexpected places. The lights dim and the ornithologist appears on stage and introduces himself, 'My name is Bond... James Bond '.
The Ian Fleming character is shown perking up, pulling out a notepad and writing it down.
And the Caribbean is the setting for most of the James Bond stories.
There was a sheet of glass between Sean Connery and the spider (you can see his arm flesh press briefly against it at one point). Also, am i the only person who questions why Quarrel was wearing a bright red t-shirt when they were trying to remain hidden from Dr No & his henchmen?
James Bond "there are no such thing as dragons" ... But Bond what about Kamado Dragons?
Where I used to live, we had big spiders, brown tarantula twice as big as that one. Bond usually gets captured, so the villain has an opportunity to explain his diabolical plan ;-) Ian Flemming was an actual British spy. His stories were written on Jamaica, where this first movie was set, but the first of four three Casino Royal movies was actually an American TV production with an American CIA James Bond. There was one with a regular James Bond and even one burlesque.
Ursula is the only reason to sit through this perfunctory film - what beauty!

You forgot the made for television black and white "Casino Royale" starring Barry Nelson as Bond.

Dr No might as well have put a wasp in Bond's room. Tarantulas are (mostly) harmless.

The Chinese black mix people were called Chigroes back then in the book. The photographer chick, the three blind men, most of Dr No's henchmen.
Of course it's a derogatory word.
