Summary:
Based on the novel by Ian Flemming, this is the film that launched the James Bond saga, Agent 007 (Sean Connery) battles mysterious Dr. No, a scientific genius bent on destroying the U.S. space program. As the countdown to disaster begins, Bond must go to Jamaica, where he encounters beautiful Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress), to confront a megalomaniacal villain in his massive island headquarters. - Zábava
Dr. No is my favorite villain - the sheer lack of expression and facial movement only served to make him all the more diabolical - and yet there were very subtle gestures of emotion at key moments at the dining table that only a brilliant actor could pull off to such superb sinister effect
He's a great villain and love the lack of expression, like Dr. Freeze in Batman Animated Series. but I feel like Pleasance perfected it in You Only Live Twice.
Loving this reaction vid by you two, please keep it up.
To be fair, it really should be noted that the author, Fleming, ended up liking Connery's take of James Bond so much that he actually made it canon that Bond was from Scotland, so there is that.
No complaints from us. Connery will always be number 1 for Bond.
Love to see people reacting to the bond films!! pls do more!!

@@MindMazeEntertainment great!
My mother LOVES James Bond films, claims to have seen everyone in theaters. She was ga ga over Sean Connery too.
Connery was the man for certain.
21:58 "Someone's not counting..."
Felix Leiter was played by Jack Lord who starred as Steve McGarrett in the original HAWAII FIVE-O.
Enjoyed your reaction a lot. As a Bond fan, you got my subscription to said 2024 at least :D keep them coming.
It has Q though. The guy who gives him Walther PPK in M's office, major Boothroyd.
Yeah. True. Just not the typical Q we get used to in the next entry, but a Q never the less. Thanks for your sub.
British voice actress Nikki van der Zyl dubbed both Honey and Sylvia Trench and I think the photographer.
Is it just me or is there something very "Venture Brothers" flashback about this movie. "Rusty" remembering that "fishing trip" when he was a kid.
They might have been referencing it. sure.
@@MindMazeEntertainment
"Dad, can you help me with my tackle?"
"In the morning Rusty. Mister Bond and I have to drive these 'local' ladies home on these dangerous gravel roads. You understand. Kano, tuck Rusty in for me, will you. Oh and be sure and check his bed for spiders. Sleep tight Rusty."

Looking forward to your other reactions to my favourite movie series. One a month - ok; I'll definitely in this for the long haul :D
@@iansmith4023 welcome to the journey my friend.
Cant wait for you to watch all of them! And do make final ranking of them all please :)
We will definitely do an episode ranking all the Bond films.
Sylvia trench (the lady in bonds apartment) has her voice dubbed in the film. But if you watch the trailer, the actress original voice is used.
Interesting. Didn't know that. Thanks.
@@MindMazeEntertainmentThe voice actress is Nikki Van Der Zyl, and she dubbed most of the Bond girls during the Sean Connery era
Where does Dr. No rank among the Bond franchise to you? Let us know and comment below!
I rank this just outside of my top 10. Sure, it doesn't have some of the classic Bond elements yet, but I love the simplicity and style of it. Btw, I kinda think Goldfinger is overrated, haha.
@@nikolaiquack8548 lol Goldfinger might be but you have to remember when the film came out it was really the first time we saw what we consider to be quintessential Bond with those classic Bond elements finale coming together for the first time. I think that's what makes Goldfinger stick out, but I can definitely understand why a lot think it's overrated. Dr. No is very simplistic when compared to other bond films, only a couple locations most of the story being more about character than action. Thanks for the feedback my friend.
@@MindMazeEntertainment No worries. Always love talking Bond. And I totally get that Goldfinger brought a lot of the classic Bond elements and iconography to the table. But if we wanna be technical about it, elements such as the Pre-Title-Sequence, a title sequence featuring barely clothed women and even gadgets (briefcase) were already established in FRWL.
Not to say that Goldfinger didn't further those elements, but I also feel like it ended up doing some of them in a lesser way. For example the locations. I think you can really tell that Goldfinger was mostly shot on sets or in the UK somewhere. And I honestly just don't ever want Bond going to Kentucky, haha.
@@nikolaiquack8548 lol yeah. It always seemed a little off when Bond was in America, like when he showed up in Vegas in Diamond are forever. Bond elements came up before Goldfinger, but Goldfinger is when it all came together in one film with the car, gadgets, suits, etc, after Goldfinger the franchise followed that formula for a long time, all the way up to Casino Royale when they decided to go back to basics.
@@MindMazeEntertainment Hmm, I partially agree with that. The Bond films always had the trajectory of getting more and more campy and outlandish until they go back to the basics again. Imo they even did that back in 1969 with OHMSS, later with FYEO and again with the Dalton films. So I see Casino Royale as keeping in line with those examples of it.
Is the man who weres those girly sunglasses he's from the TV show hawie five o ?
He is!
How's it going?
Going good my friend. How are you?
Air conditioning has been around since the 1930s.
Yes, you can say a lot about the 60s, their behavior, and their clothing style, but I believe that it was a much better time, when people did not experience all the violence that exists today, nor all the stress and depressions, drugs, homelessness etc. .. Yes just clothes style, try to look at yourselves..??? One has a baseball hat on and doesn't play base ball and the other has a stocking over his head, not very stylish..? How your physique also looks, compared to the average in the 60s, is huge, especially since so many Americans suffer from obesity, but also many addictive substances, sauced together with a huge better knowledge, selfishness, and complexes..!
lol Well you don't have to be mean about our hat choices. Plus a baseball cap isn't needed just to play baseball. Our physiques are fine and none of us are obese here, not sure why that had any baring on the actual video, but thanks.
