I love that Connery is a serious spy in the first few films, particularly this one, FRWL and Thunderball. He has jokes, but when he's got a job to do, he doesn't fool around.
Dean and Hendo, when you see the spider crawl up Bond's arm up to his face, it is actually crawling up a piece of plexiglass. It is a similar technique to how Raiders of the Lost Ark had a cobra in Indy's face.

I find the meal where they just eat three grapes hilarious because in the book, Fleming goes into so much depth on Bond’s meals. Also in the book, the scene in the pipes ends with Bond getting in a fight with a giant squid which would have been quite something to see with 60’s visuals.
From the very first movie, the Bond girls hierarchy was already established: the lead (Honey), the secondary Bond girl(s) who is either the villainess or the sacrificial lamb (Miss Taro) and the tertiary Bond girl that Bond is with before the main action begins (Sylvia).

He rejected everything his father gave him. Including the name. So he changed it to Julius No, rejecting the surname.
The great thing about Dr. No is that it's very much an introduction film but very much NOT an origin story. Part of that comes simply from adapting a later book in the series (which leads to a funny little paradox: the Beretta incident described at the beginning of this movie occurred in the novel From Russia with Love, but in the movie continuity, this story happens first!).
But it's clearly a conscious decision: Bond has been a spy long enough that M knows good and well that his agent and his secretary will be chatting it up in the other room, about one verbal tease away from inspecting each other's secret files. On top of that, 007 has been using a Beretta on the job for ten years (though most of those years likely predate his 00 promotion), and his last mission occurred six months before the events of this film. So it's very much a lived-in world, and the only "origin" we get is for the gun he'll be using for the rest of the series. Take note, screenwriters.

It's great he doesn't remember anything.....and yet has now seen them all! So he can notice all kinds of things he didn't notice on a first viewing anyways. To be honest, I seldom remember much about James Bond movies, that's kind of the fun of them. It's just a parade of set pieces, good looking people and great one-liners! Obviously certain classic sequences I know, and some movies better than others but basically it's check your brain at the door and enjoy the ride. I barely know what's going on half the time, lol.

_Dr. No_ isn't my favourite but I can't be too hard on it: Its the first one and while they wouldnt fully figure out the formula until _Goldfinger,_ this film deserves credit for introducing most of the familiar elements, even though they would improve on almost all of them. The only thing that is already perfect from the first scene is Connery as Bond. Indeed, easily the best thing about _Dr. No_ are the scenes introducing and depicting his character, what he's about, what his profession is and so forth.
Trench will reappear in another movie.
