Itâs been a minute since something animated has made me cry.
I have started to notice that angry joe hates a show for having a character you are SUPPOSED to hate, like in fallout, the squire was supposed to be a character you dont like but angry joe knocks it points for that.
This season made me hate Rogue.
The collars cause extreme pain when a mutant tries to use their power and Rogue CANâT TURN HERS OFF.
That's brutal

Didnât know they caused pain when they try to use your powers. I was thinking as mutants they wouldnât want to wear them because itâs a symbol of their oppression.
Rogue was also a victim of SA when she was enslaved on Genosha. Actually all the abuse throughout her life caused a mental block that prevents Rogue from turning her powers off. She managed to in one iteration and realized the true nature of her powers like being able to suppress and mimic other powers in proximity.
These idiots don't get the comics at all
They forgot to mention the part where Magneto grabs a train and uses it like a giant whip.
Erik Lehnsherr looking down at Leech, an abandoned forgotten child who thought that Erik would not even come, and comforting him in his native German as the end came hit me deeply. Kevin Fiege gave us better X-Men in those three seconds that Brian Singer did in his whole tenure.

This makes him weak to psychics because they just need to plant the suggestion "You're weak, nothing" into his head, or in Jean's case, siphon off some of that confidence and match his strength.
The cool thing about the intro, is that it changes depending on who might be âdeadâ
thats not why, it changes to show foreshadow but in ep 6 case show those weve lost by displaying their absense by not showing them anymore in the intros.

Iâm 40 and grew up on this show. Iâve been amazed at what they did with this. Iâve got my 11 year old son watching it with me and heâs loving it!

The Show Runner said that the first half was pre 9-11 then episode 5 is 9-11 and the second half is living in a post 9-11 world.
Legitimately cannot think of a better way of showing how the Xmen can work out of the mutants/Marginalized People metaphor of the 60s.
Only other event outside of 9/11 I can put on the same level in my lifetime is the CoVid Pandemic and its effect on the world still being felt today.
Canât see the relation, the last episode is more close to a genocide than a terrorist attack.

Finally! Someone actually gets what Jean Grey is going through instead of villainizing her as the automatic bad guy. Yes, she is being hypocritical about the whole Scott situation, but she literally does not know what her feelings are. Itâs called having flaws.

Sorry Alex I have to debunk your collar theory, it was shown back in the original show if you were a mutant and you try to activate your powers while wearing the collar you got inflicted with immense amount of pain. Rogue can't turn her powers off, so she would be in so much pain touching somebody would be completely out of the question.
You are forgetting they have beast who could most likely tweak the effects of the collar , dont simp for bad writing.

@@jkhadem5729 if that was the case the collars would have never of been a issue since there introduction. Beast is a Scientist, not a Mechanic. The concept was created by Forge who makes things well beyond comprehensiveness and well beyond his current years technology. The things he makes work and can't be replicated till YEARS or even Decades later. Heck in the comics there's many times he takes things apart he builds and literary tries to figure out how they work cuzz he doesn't even understand what he did. Check out a Forge comic and you will see what I mean.

Thank you Joe for giving What if? Its props in terms of the leaps Marvel Animation has improved on compared to where it used to be and considering DC's current state atm with them ruining Young Justice.
I was almost Dissapointed with how fast the Evil Madelyn Pryor clone angle ended in episode 3,but I actually was so satisfied when they slotted her in the Pyschic Affair with Scott in episode 5 which Is a great callback to the Emma frost/Scott Affair in the Morrison era.
Episode 5 legitimately This episode had so many jaw dropping moments I couldn't believe.
From Jean and Wolverine kissing,to Cyclops snapping on the reporter,to the reveal of Madeline and Cyclops's psychic Affair,to seeing Nightcrawler and Dazzler,Rogue and Gambit breaking up,Rogue and Magneto's dance and finally that final attack by the sentinels.
This 1 episode surpassed the entire Fox Adaptation of the Xmen.

The scene where Gambit throws the queen of hearts into the fire always reminds me of how he told Rogue in X Men: Evolution that he always saves that card for last.
Forge's device worked in giving back Storm's power but she was subconsciously holding herself back because of what she said to Jean about being human. I love it.
I think theyâre gonna bring gambit back but not in the way you expect, possibly resurrected by Apocalypse as the horseman of death just like in the comics.
That would be the best way forward as a compromise Iâd say to bringing back Gambit, but I hope they donât do it until the next season at least

Episode 5 was perfect in almost every way. It'll stand out in that series like episode three of the last of us with Bill and Frank. And both will probably make me cry everytime I watch them.

Episode 5 was absolutely mind-blowing. From Ace of Base to... yeah. This is THE SHIZZ.
Theres a great line by Madelyn in episode 3 that does some foreshadowing. She says, "Our memories make us who we are."
"Here, eat some chili, I've always loved you."
No "X-Men.. Welcome to die!" was an injustice.
The jubilee arc was literally the writers saying through the screen "Listen guys we get it! We all love classic xmen Xcapades! Nana nana naaaa na na! Buuuuuut... we need to move on a little, we are still gunna have adventures and good times, but these characters are gunna grow a little, lets grow with them"
One of the most harrowing details of this entire detail is, when gambit sacrificed himself I was thinking the entire time, what if this isn't the only sentinel they have that's capable of this much carnage? I think we're going to be seeing more of these godzilla sentinels as the series goes on.
I still can't believe just how powerful that thing was.

I know some people are upset that the show is burning through comic book arcs too fast. But I like that they are shortening those arcs. As much as I love the comics, a lot of the story arcs are super convoluted, filled with retcons, have a lot of filler to drag things out, and do unnecessary crossovers to hype things up.
Maybe the show does cut out a bit too much but I think they do a pretty good job of hitting the main points.
Same besides the first half of motendo (cause I as well donât care for Jubilees character) Iâve loved every episode so far. Incredible series and I hope we get a Spider-Man 98 or something like that next.
I predict the show will enter House of X by season 3. Moira's dead, and House of X only started with her death.
I like X-Men, but I never read comics
It's incredibly difficult to keep up with the show and especially knowing who all these villains are/how they relate

@@matthewsharpe393 The fun thing about Bastion, the current villain, is you don't need much of his back story. He's got the creepy demeanor of a psychokiller, a Buffalo Bill wanting for plyable mutant skin. The rest you'll discover in the coming episodes.

I never really watched the original run growing up all that much, but I always liked Gambit, so even I was almost tearing up on that breakdown of his death đ

For me episode 4 was good. I liked life death part 1 not concluded until two episodes later cause in Uncanny X-Men that story line gets introduced and doesn't get wrapped up until like 30 issues later. Also Ep 5 was the best episode of animation period.

but i may be biased because Jubilee is my favorite character.
The most satisfying thing to me about the show is hearing my daughter hum the theme like it's her favorite song, even after the episode is over.
Love the show!! My nephews who are 7 love the show too, however after the episode w/ Jean Grey and Magdalene they thought each episode was a lil too scary. And they ask to watch the older version of the X-Men. I was surprised they got scared but can see why it could be too much at parts.
Of course I love that shit, so Iâm here for all of it đ

Even BEFORE I knew X-men â97 was gonna be a thing, that original 90s intro music was SO POWERFUL that I would find myself randomly humming it OVER THE YEARS (despite having not SEEN AN EPISODE since I was in grade school).

I love Gambit, but I hope they bring in Nightcrawler as a replacement in the main cast. It'd also be cool to see Colossus or Psylocke. But Nightcrawler, I think, has the potential for some of the coolest fighting scenes and they already introduced him and made an action figure of him for the '97 legends toy line.
Gambit is absolutely my favorite charter. I almsot cried at the end of the episode.

Yeah I've noticed that Wolverine has been doing basically nothing this whole season. I mean, I know when the X-Men movies were coming out there was an oversaturation of Wolverine...but like...hes literally been relegated to driving people to the hospital or hanging out at the mansion. Every X-Men episode should have at least like 3 Wolverine angry growls and/or him yelling Jean. Its a must!

in the 90s you got wolvie's backstory with sabertooth, lady deathstrike, alpha flight, captain America and those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. I think he can afford to take a little backseat for a bit. He had the most comical moment of the season "Who Apocalypse" Let others have their moment.

the mojo episode was fine for the most part. I was just happy to hear Alyson Court come back as the older Jubilee in it and all the references to the Marvel VS Capcom games, X-men Arcade game and even the SNES X-men game from Capcom. Someone on that animation team KNEW what they were doing

how powerful are the sentinels in the comics. Can they beat apocalpyse? I know the future timelines/alternate universes are different but Day of Future Past vs Age of Apocalpyse? Who would win Nimrod/Master Mold and all the sentinel armies vs Apocalpyse and all his AoA mutant armies? I think Apoc has superhuman armies too? Or are they resistance fighters for humans?

I'm in my mid 20s and I watched X-Men as a little child. I was so hyped for the remake and it's amazing
the best animation Disney has done, post-Marvel takeover, was Tales of the Jedi. some of the most mature and masterful storytelling in animation that enriches and recontextualizes established star wars lore into even more meaningful and intriguing experiences.
I have been able to watch and keep up with xmen 97, shogun, ninja kamui, solo leveling, and fallout. Also tried out 76 and it was actually really fun anf a good casual game. Now 4 is getting a next gen update soon. Havent played these but see and hear amazing things for recent games like PalWorld, enshrouded, warframe, last Epoch, persona 3, etc.
I also saw dune 2 which was incredible. Honestly for me 2024 is off to a great start for entertainment.
The game im waiting for is ghost of tshushima on PC and AC red whenever that releases. Im a huge AC and ninja/samurai fan.

My friend just started watching the show and was up to episode 4. He was kinda âmehâ about it. I told him to talk to me after watching episode 5.

I wasnât sure about morph but itâs great how heâs able to be used to add more mutants to the show without having the cast feel too big.
Excited for the finale later this week didn't expect spiderman and doctor doom to get cameos that was cool nightcrawler and wolverine team up was amazing wonder how all this is gonna wrap up â€â€
Whole show has been fantastic. It does a great back and forth between amazing action and soap opera. Even the weird lore episodes like Lifedeath part 2 rules

In the comics, they actually address Rogue's struggles by giving her a dampening bracelet after she experiences a change to her mutation so she absorbs people without touching them, making her a walking bomb in populated areas.. But her body is constantly fighting the dampener so wearing it makes her physically ill. I recall the necklace had the same effect when she was trapped on Genosha in season 1 of the original series. it's like willingly accepting cancer into your life to protect everyone else. The tradeoff is extraordinarily hard to take.

Episode 5 is mostly amazing. I have a problem with a gigantic new mastermold-ish sentinel just appearing out of no where.
Yeah this is one of the better examples of reviving tv series from the past. For me it is actully better that the original siries.
