Bats hunt at night. Barn Swallows hunt during the day.
I watched several of each species dining in a cloud of insects one summer evening at dusk. They were all flying through the swarm zigging and zagging. The bats and birds swerved each time they got a bite to eat.
The insects were swarming together to find mates. There were so many insects in one place that all of the predators could eat as much as their stomachs could hold, and there were still more than enough insects left to propagate the species.
