I got lucky and found one Start Collecting box online after some long searching. I wouldn't mind picking up the Vanguard set later, but I'm happy getting what I got.
On it's own merits I think the Vanguard box is a good introduction to the army. Compared to the old Start Collecting... yeah. I bought 2 of the old start collecting when 8th 40k launched and made a 1k army for both games. Good times.
I'd check eBay--given the number of box sets that include them in both AoS and 40k I'd bet you could get a lot of them for a steal. Look for listings that are used or have pictures of the sprue or an actual box rather than stock photos (there's a lot of retailers selling new boxes on eBay but you often can find better deals buying from individuals).

Do you know the best way to get Tzaangors in bulk for cheap?

@@BudgetWaaagh Thank you sir
A change for the worse is kinda GWs MO unfortunately.. agreed it's a much poorer set.
its unfortionate they kinda screwed over 40k Tzheentch players with it
They sure did haha. Shame since the 40k combat patrol chaos demons is entirely AoS friendly (though no longer advertised as such)
