@Mr. Teddy If America were to move the police budget to other programs then the police wouldn't be as quick to respond to tragedies like the Sandy Hook shooting. The police is actually pretty underfunded and officers are underpaid. People are so quick to say defund the police yet don't think about the consequences it would have, especially on black communities whose crime rates are much higher. The police is too often taken for granted. It's ridiculous. It's not because one program is underfunded that you shouldn't fund other programs that are vital to everyone's safety. I do think they could cut back some military funding, but you also have to think about how the US military helps countries in crisis all over the world, such as earthquake relief in Haiti and containing ebola in West Africa. The money that goes to military doesn't simply go to waste. Funding for police and military have absolutely nothing to do with school shootings. Money doesn't prevent shootings or fucked up people. If anything money to the police would prevent shootings because they can keep an eye on warning signs and interfere before anything happens. People need to stop making these blunt statements without thinking. If you wanna take money from the police then don't expect them to be there when a shooting or any other crime/tragedy happens.

@Mr. Teddy you sound so naive. The minute our military defense lessons any degree is when the enemies of the US will make their move. China, ISIS, N. Korea, etc. You obviously have no idea how the world works. Yes, it would be great if we didn't need so much military defense and we could fund all those things you mentioned. Unfortunately we live in a world where some powers that be want nothing more than to destroy the US and all we hold dear, especially our freedoms. Until the time comes when that's no longer a threat, we absolutely NEED our military fully funded and ready at all times.

Imagine being one of those kids who ran past the shooter when he was trying to reload. Missing death by literal seconds. Looking at the shooter's face, brushing against the killer's figure, running past your dead friends. Not thinking. Just running. Feeling fear so sharp you feel like you might faint. Or feeling shock so bone-deep you don't feel anything at all. Little kids who should have never needed to feel this fear. Who should have never seen their schoolmates shot to death in front of them. There is no. excuse. for why proper gun control has not been implemented. There is no excuse for why, 7 years later, 142 more shootings have taken place and nothing has changed. New Zealand had immediate and incredibly strict gun reforms after the christ church shooting. And that took place this year. It didn't take them 7 years. It took a day. America, WHAT is your excuse?

These things are no joke. My mom is a teacher. I can remember the day that the news was spread about the High School in South FL that fell victim to a mass shooting. On the news all they said was that it was a school in South FL. They didn't give any more details than that. My mom was teaching that day. I had no idea whether i was going to see her again. I can only imagine what these parents went through.

It's ridiculous kids as young as you think more deeply about this issue , much more than my then 15 year old self.

My dad would sometimes not let me read the paper ( I was in the Middle East with no TV) , I guess he was trying to protect me from Virginia Tech . But Sandy Hook happened at a time when I just got social media , it could never be hidden away.

actually, "gun control" has been around since 1930's and it DOES NOT WORK. The worst "gun violence" is in "gun FREE ZONES" where only the CRIMINAL has a gun... or knife, or bomb, etc. When law abiding folks have guns, crime goes down. If someone wants to kill people, they will. No "law" will stop them. There are 20,000 gun laws already, and did that work? no.
Now, the media is also to blame... if you kill people with arsenic it won't get much press coverage nor outrage... but if you use a BB gun or pellet gun even... 24/7 coverage and cries against NRA (who teach gun safety classes by the way). ETC.

I think the reason is because there are countless questions that have never been answered. Here are just a few that people have brought up:
      1) Why were no ambulances/EMS allowed inside the school? Why were they all kept behind at the nearby fire station but blocked & prevented from entering the actual building?
      2) Why were the students never taken to the hospital? How was it allowed for a single police officer to “declare them dead” on his own, when they are not even qualified to make that medical call? And why did the community never sue for this horrific mis-judgement?
      3) Why were no trauma helicopters ever sent as per standard protocol? Why did the community never sue for this horrific mis-judgement?
      4) In the one single state police helicopter that was sent to the school (for which we have recorded footage), why did the police chief of the town admit that it was never in communication with police on the ground? How is this possible? Why did the community never sue for this horrific mis-judgement?
      5) Why are there no records for the shooter ever having attended the school? Why are there instead only records for him actually having attended a different nearby school?
      6) Why are there no verifiable records for the shooter even having existed? Why was a private investigator hired by one of the parents themselves unable to ever located a social security number for the shooter? And why did that same private investigator discover that the social security index lists the shooter’s death as having occurred on Dec 13, 2012-a day before the tragedy?
      7) Why is there not a single picture or photo ever released of the perpetrator alongside his brother in the same frame-the same brother who was originally alleged to have committed the crime in the first place?
      8) Why was it said that the shooter had stolen his brother’s ID, when it was already proven that the brothers lived many miles apart in completely different states? How was it possible for him to have taken his ID?
      9) Why have we never heard from the family of the perpetrator? Why have none of them ever come out to make any sort of statement at all, or ever testify in court or meet the parents? Why were they simply arrested or taken in by police, and then completely disappeared into thin air?
      10) Why does nobody in the community remember the shooter? Why did one of the neighbors call it “strange” that nobody knew anything about him, and even his own aunt said she doesn’t remember him?
      11) How was a scrawny young man able to carry upwards of 100-150 pounds of firearms and tactical gear all on their own in the first place? How is that physically possible?
      12) Why was camera footage never released of the shooter entering the school?
      13) Why was there no camera footage ever released of students mass evacuating the school? Why was the only released police dashcam footage empty and shows no students or teachers in sight? Why does this contradict the official police report which says that hordes of students were seen evacuating the premise around the same time and location?
      14) Why does that footage only show other police officers who got up and calmly started eating snacks brought to them from other officers? How could they be doing something like that in the midst of a mass shooting? Why did the community never she for this horrific mis-judgement?
      15) Why were there port-a-potties seen all over the outside of the school premise? What were they doing there? And why could the school officials never show the records of these materials being ordered even under subpoena?
      16) Why does the Federal Bureau of Investigation show on their official website of murders in 2012 that nobody died of murder in that town in 2012? If they get their information from the local police departments, why were those deaths never accurately logged?
      17) Why did the police confidently claim on live camera the day of the incident that the shooter was found deceased “in the HALLWAY” and “OUTSIDE of the classroom” and yet the official police report says that he was found inside the classroom? (As one out of numerous anomalies)
      18) Why did the official police report take an entire YEAR to write? And why after all of that, MASSIVE chunks of it are censored and blurred out? Why all the secrecy?
      19) Why did the initial phone call from school to report “gunfire” get labeled by police as a mere “unwanted person” alert? Why did the community not sue for this horrific mis-judgement?
      20) Why did the Newtown Bee (the local paper) claim the day of the incident that they had personally spoken and interviewed the principal of the school about the incident, when she had in fact died in the shooting?
      21) When confronted about this and forced to retract the article and apologize, why was the excuse given for the huge mishap (to paraphrase): “A strange unknown woman who LOOKED like the principal came into our building so we interviewed her.” How does that make any sense whatsoever? And how were they never able to identify this imposter mystery woman?
      22) Why was there a visible sign right outside the school on the day of the incident, which read “Sign in Here”?
      23) Why did a member of the school department formally testify in court that this sign belonged to the Federal Government’s DHS? What in the world were they doing there?
      25) Why was there a scheduled FEMA drill on the DHS website weeks and months before the incident, scheduled for December 13th/14th?
      26) Why did several of the surviving kids who were interviewed mention something about a “drill” on live camera, as allegedly told to them by their teachers before the incident?
      27) Why were there mysterious Facebook pages and donation websites or articles posted a day before the actual incident (on Dec 13 or earlier) talking about the incident, when it never actually happened yet? How did Microsoft reportedly confirm these online web-publishing dates when investigated, if they were in fact false?
      28) How was a multi-million donation website page by a major corporation set up and running for the tragedy a day before it happened? (Dec 13th)
      29) After denying foreknowledge of the event, how was that donation page set up and running in just mere hours after the tragedy, when the president and founder of that major corporation himself formally stated that the page was created as a result of “many requests” which would mean that the idea, the decision, the the planning, the computer programming, the bank arrangement, the website design, and final touches were all done in a matter of a just several dozen minutes?
      30) Why was it found that the school was found to have heavily contaminated water, toxic fumes, and high asbestos levels in the walls that made life practically impossible there, yet parents were never notified?
      31) Why did the state of Connecticut suddenly release a random law just a year before the incident which stated that no crime scene photos, birth certificates, death certificates, or ANY records related to murder victims or their perpetrators in the state could ever be released, with a penalty of up to 5 years in prison? What was the purpose of this strange and seemingly unprovoked law?
Why are there so many of these basic contradictions, discrepancies, and anomalies that haven’t been answered? And why can’t people ask these simple questions without being mocked or targeted?

The innocence of the kids asking if they got a prize for staying quiet is just heart shattering. When I was in elementary school, we went through drills frequently. Nothing ever happened, thankfully, but we were aware of things like this at that young age. They explained to us why we had to practice and know what to do just in case something bad did happen. Twice a lockdown wasn't a drill from what I remember but it was quickly resolved as a misunderstanding of some sort. But for something like this to happen puts a chill down my spine

My younger son was a kindergarten student when this happened. I picked him up that day and hugged his teacher, both of us in tears. I will never forget where I was and how I felt when this happened. It was winter and when it gets dark out early. The week following this shooting, I remember looking out my kitchen window. I thought of the families who lost children at dusk and hurting for them. Hurting knowing their kids should be home, doing homework, getting dinner together. This broke my heart in a very deep way.

I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss America.
When a person can walk into a building and open fire on the most innocent, know that our societies have long passed their breaking points.
It tears me apart from the inside to think that those parents won't see their children grow up to become what they aspired to.

My neighbor came to America on a work Visa 2 years ago from India. She used to bop around here without a care in the world. I used to tell her all the time, girl you have to be careful here and pay attention to your surroundings. This is America, you can be shot to death anytime, anywhere for any reason. She'd look at me like I was crazy because in her country civilians can't own guns and she had never seen one. I think she thought I was just paranoid. Until one night about 12am two people got into an assault rifle gunfight right infront of our appartment. There were 22 shellcasings infront of our apartment. A bullet went thru my neighbors bedroom wall and over her front door which was directly opposite mine. When I heard the barage of bullets I was in the kitchen on the phone. I hit the floor behind the dishwasher thankful I wasn't killed because it sounded like my apartment was being shot at. We lived in a good neighborhood and in a gated community. Most of our neighbors were active duty military. I went to my neighbor's door immediately. I said did you hear that??? She was like OMG yes. I was like see, do you see what I have been telling you, do you get it now???

This is absolutely heartbreaking, disturbing, unimaginable and absolutely sickening that we live now in a society that this is tolerated and accepted!! God, I wish I had the answers or a solution. What can we do to stop this???

when I was in 5th grade, I was having band practice after school as usual. the school was mostly because it was only time for after school clubs. science club and band club and English club and tutors were the only ones in the school. suddenly, they announced a lockdown saying its not a drill, hide ASAP. me and my music teacher and my seven other friends hid in the closet and locked the door. We heard a few gunshots and footsteps. I was so scared. there were 8 students at the band practice, one kid had ran out into the hallway. they were shot, but didn’t die. my music teacher was also injured, but thankfully me and most of my friends weren’t injured. no deaths happened, but the entire school and neighborhood was on lockdown. That’s the most traumatic experience I can share. This stuff isn’t a hoax. I’m so sorry for the victims of this shooting or really any shooting.

I remember the day this took place. I was in either 1st grade or second i can't remember. It happened in the next town over from my school (it happened pretty close to my school still). My school had shelter in place for about 20 minutes. We went home early which i understand why and my grandma hugged me so tight while crying and kept telling me she loved me which she didn't say often. Rip to all the lives lost in this event
