  • The future is now with the #epropulsionelite . Will this featherlite #electricoutboardmotor be the next big thing in small boating? With an integrated lithium ion battery, stellar portability, and user-friendly plug and play operations, the E Lite could revolutionize how we propel small boats of all shapes and materials.

    I had the opportunity to test out the brand new ePropulsion E Lite electric outboard before it's released. This tiny outboard may surprise you! It is 500w with a sport mode that can bump up to 750w. The E Lite features an integrated internal lithium ion battery, sleek design aesthetics, a digital display, and more. The E Lite is a two-piece unit between the outboard and transom mount clip. This is the most user-friendly and plug and play outboard I've ever used!
    In this video, I'll break down everything you want to know about the ePropulsion E Lite. The specs, details, run time, design features, operation, and on the water testing. I give my opinions and thoughts on the E Lite as well. Thanks for watching.

    They really made a mistake not allowing this to run off an external power source. Larger capacity 24 volt batteries are very common.

    I have one pre ordered from TBN can’t wait. I’m going to put it on my sea eagle 285 frameless pontoon boat. I have a XI3 mounted up front with a 100ah lithium batt. The shorter run time won’t be an issue with both motors. Was looking for something like this. The sea eagle doesn’t have enough room for 2 batteries and I didn’t want a gas outboard.

    Good overview. I can certainly see its uses. One nice little extra feature that would have been easy to build in (maybe in version 2.0 down the line) would be a plug for an external battery. ePropulsion motors are cool in that their other motors have the option of a 3rd party battery. For my Spirit 1.0 I've used 3rd party batteries and it's a very nice thing to be able to do. I know that's not the intended use for this motor but to have a extra battery tucked away would give some peace of mind. I think they would sell more (a lot more) with just a simple aux plug for another battery.

    Almost feels like the IDEAL propulsion unit for Kayak and small boat. But the coolest part - integrated battery - also gives it one big problem. You have one battery? No swapping to get all day propulsion for when they are really biting? No way to hook up an external or larger battery?
    If it doesn't support hooking up batteries to the charge port for extended runtime, they need to add that. Once that is a thing, it literally looks like THE BEST option on the market.

    • @Black-March
      @Black-March Před měsícem +2

      I have ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus and I think this would do full days just fine. I usually use 125 to 250w when traveling from point A to B but when fishing I only use 6 to 20w of power as that's enough for the boat to move along shore at a fishable speed and 20-35w is more than enough speed to go trolling.
      After a full day of fishing with the Spirit 1.0 Plus I usually have 70-80% battery life left.

      @@Black-March Yeah, it's gonna be a no-brainer with its features and price, and the only reason that's getting so much grief here is that the folks in THIS niche on THIS channel like the existing models, or old trolling motor + battery they grew up with, both of which are older school designs. They also don't understand why ANYONE wouldn't want to drill holes in their boat/kayak and do all their own customizations. As someone who has been on bass boats my whole life, and who loves customizing my own boat, I get that feeling. What I also get, that they don't, is that most people would never trust themselves to drill a hole in their boat and do their own custom work. Most people want bolt on equipment, ONLY. lol

    I would love to see this with foot stealing. But trying to figure out throttle control would be hard. But a neet idea. It's a 12volt motor, around 60lb thrust range. Is there option to add an additional power supply?

  • @codyakfishing8856
    @codyakfishing8856 Před 3 měsíci

    It's a neat motor and all, great for short little trips, and possibly a kayak. But in a small boat I feel it's better to run a 55lb trolling motor, an APC 10-5m-lh prop, my top speed with that setup is 4.5 mph while drawing 26 amps at 12v which is roughly 320watts. Trolling motor - 200$ 12v lithium battery 300$ APC prop 7$. So for 507$ you can power the same boat, the same speed and have about 4hrs of runtime at WOT

    • @freighttrain7143
      @freighttrain7143 Před 3 měsíci

      Depends on what you think is better?
      All that wiring, external batteries, custom mods, mounting it all?
      Or almost all of those features in a 20 lb single package that's a one hand carry?
      Here, you are paying for the simplicity of adding it and using it.
      That's a big feature for people who are alot more interested in fishing than they are in modifying their boat(and I understand your point... I love modifying my boat and adding capabilities, so I have a setup similar to yours). But we are not EVERYONE.
      This will immediately sell well for tenders, where folks regularly have a need for light propulsion, on a very short trip.
      Once they add the ability to hookup to external batteries via the charging port, the customer demand will show you how INCREDIBLY popular this will be in the kayak and light fishing boat market. It will sell like CRAZY at that price.

    I don't know about $1000. Half price and it would have been a sweet deal and fit that niche. Internal batteries at that price knowing they will fail in 3-4 years makes this product a hard pass, it's too sketchy.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před 4 měsíci +4

      It's hundreds less than my cell phone, and I replace it every year, two years max! Lithium battery life is based on quality and charge cycles/use. There are a lot of variables as to how long it can last. I can attest that I currently run an ePropulsion battery that is now 5 years old, their original Navy series. So long as their quality in the eLite is similar to past outboards, I wouldn't call it sketchy. But I fully understand that everyone has a price point they'd like to see a product at to deem it worthy of purchase.

    I’d be worried about the fact that it’s an internal battery. I replace my boat’s batteries every 3-4 years, and an internal battery means I’m stuck using proprietary technology that is incredibly expensive, and I’d have to hope and pray they don’t discontinue the line. It’s a really cool piece of tech, but I probably wouldn’t be an early adopter on it. I’d wait for it to become ubiquitous, with 3rd party options for replacement batteries. Even then, at almost $1000, it’s going to be a select few who jump on at that price point. I appreciate the review, though. Keep ‘em coming!
