@@gfifplayer4691 I longed to use Mari for years largely because of UDIMs and the 4K+ texture sizes per UDIM. I thought SP had no chance of catching it. I was wrong. Slowly over time SP and then Mixer caught up to it. Now it's just a slow beast trying to catch up with smart materials and other innovations etc that SP and Mixer (nDo/Ddo) pioneered.
@Eric Griffin the majority of artist that work in industry of cinema that I see like Artruism Digital or Michael Wildein says that the support in mari is way better than sp in udim pipeline, since support a lot more tiles and of course mari have better projection tools, actually mari was built with a projection core in mind, At this moment I feel that the both try to copy the other, but Mari still handle better in a lot of cases, could be slower because don't have presets that transformed sp in a very popular software even so have advantages too.
@@zurt20 No doubt on anything you are saying. For now, Mari is the king. But this is a personal question, not an industry question. And my personal choice. I watch both and yet Artuism Digital and Michael have a bunch of SP Tutorials. So they recognize change is coming eventually with the support of UDIMs and up to 8K.
Did you forget that Mari has a node based texturing system aswell? It's one of the biggest strong points ever. I don't know anyone who uses the layers.
This Software is Born tp Finish your Video Card ASAP....it is robust but it gets slow and slower....it requires some crazy hardwares to even get a decent performance....SP gets the job done
Actually, that was going to be the title of this video then I switched it at the last minute haha. Mari is a warrior that fights in big wars, and in those wars, you need heavy artillery.
Well i cant use substance anymore as my license just got thrown out They renamed substance painter to substance painter 3D. The software itself is very good but mari and substance are designed for different targets in mind anyways
Blender is decent all purpose software. Mari is dedicated texturing software. While not computer friendly it can get very high end results. It was used for the Smaug in Lord of the Rings. I think they used several 8 k textures on him.
Dude, you have a plethora of hidden knowledge! Great video, very informative.
I appreciate that!
I love Mari, but when SP and Mixer supported UDIMs up to 8K that was a wrap.
