Yoshinori Ono back when he was in charge of the Street Fighter games said he didn't mind a crossover with Mortal Kombat it's Capcom who don't want a crossover cause they don't want to see their characters such as Ryu or Chun-Li head getting decapitated or gutted similar to what DC said about Midway for Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter I feel Capcom and NetherRealm should make their own version of a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game.

@@tabmok99 Also if Capcom ok with Street Fighter having a crossover comic with their other fighting game Darkstalkers a crossover with Mortal Kombat shouldn't be a far fetched but the violence the only thing preventing this crossover from happening.
I don't think Darkstalkers was ever popular and reached SF or MK levels, even though thematically it is more consistent. So I'm not sure such a crossover would really work, but maybe 1 or 2 Darkstalkers characters could make a cameo in an MK/SF crossover.
@@tabmok99 Darkstalkers was mid popular in the 90's not on Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat of course and Capcom only put Darkstalkers characters in their crossovers only now I said if Street Fighter and Darkstalkers can crossover Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat shouldn't be a weird topic Darkstalkers characters are like MK characters minus the blood and gore but I have faith a MK vs. SF game will happen in the future.

Like Capcom created Street Fighter X Tekken and Namco suppose to create their own version Tekken X Streer Fighter this what Capcom and NetherRealm should do make their own versions of a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter crossover.
I’d say get Iron Galaxy to make it with hybrid gameplay, since their KI pretty much already was. That way neither fanbase/developer can get too upset about the direction leaning too much one way or the other, and they only need one game to take the risk. SF x Tekken didn’t payoff since we never got the Tekken half of it, the narrative/lore was even left incomplete.
MK vs Tekken is something I'd like to see too. The latter already crossed over with SF before. Cary Tagawa even played Shang Tsung and Heihachi Mishima in live action.
And I think he was also In Legend Of Chun Li ad a Yakuza boss(but a small cameo)

It's unlikely MK vs. SF will happen, it would have been good in the 90s. But that era might have passed already. Also, you know Capcom won't accept their favorite characters get decapitated.

Agree. The collaboration between MK and SF right now is not as relevant as the 90's. Because for now it's not just about the violence but more like power scaling. As long as it goes MK characters is going to be far more powerful and contains more than 6 realms and much more species than SF characters. So I think it will not match up for that 2 franchise. The two kind of collaboration that I think will work out is SF vs Tekken and MK vs KI because KI is as close as MK in terms of variety of character's species
You can just imply the violence in well crafted ways (unlike MK vs DC), some SF6 super moves already do it, Killer Instinct does it, even Sub-Zero’s Injustice win outro does it.

A crossover between Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat is inevitable like a Marvel vs. DC game or even movie is inevitable at least a comic book between Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter should at least happen I'm certain a crossover will happen don't know how many years it will take but I'm certain a crossover with Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter Characters will happen.

In one of the first concepts of Street Fighter II, the setting was a martial arts tournament in a island... and (if i don't remember wrong) even was planned to have a pit/stage fatality-like mechanic!

I'd be all for an official Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter video game crossover.
2 things I often hear are that the control layouts for both games are too different & someone said they'd probably have to split the game in 2 separate games (1 side being Mortal Kombat's perspective & the other being Street Fighter's perspective).
The other is that Capcom supposedly doesn't like the idea of Street Fighter characters getting their heads ripped off, their hearts ripped out, lit on fire & burned to a crisp, electrocuted to death, being frozen to death & shattered to pieces or any other kind of fatality in existence.
If Capcom did cave & work with NetherRealm Studios on this crossover, odds are the violence (on MK's side) would most likely have to be toned down, which would most likely mean the blood & gore are removed.
To that, I say...
Why not do that, but also have a secret code (like ABACABB or DULLARD from Sega Genesis Mortal Kombat 1) that would activate the blood & gore that Mortal Kombat's known for?
This way, both sides of the aisle can have what they want.
I wonder what type of finishers Street Fighter would have.
I wonder if they would just be a super move that can only be performed at the end of the match or maybe do the thing where the bad guy characters can perform fatalities while the heroes perform some kind of brutalities.

I can only remember the USA Sat AM block with MK and Double Dragon; but the so-called crossover involving the orb was...interesting to note. Now I REALLY wish that MK WOULD have a crossover with SF to complete the cycle!! Like Mario vs Sonic, in Super Smash Bros, etc. Have they actually buried the hatchet..?

We should at least have a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter comic book or something like Marvel vs. DC had way back when or trading cards nonetheless a Ed Boon was trying to get a Street Fighter character in MK11 but Capcom shut him down for a millionth time Bison, Akuma and Juri really would fit in a Mortal Kombat game since they will kill and Capcom shouldn't act like they not violent with their characters in Street Fighter but anyway a crossover between these two groundbreaking video game franchise is inevitable in my humble opinion one day I truly believe this crossover will legit come to fruition.
Akuma fits the most, literally punches holes into people and craves violent battles. Juri’s just crazy and Bison power hungry, but Akuma lives for the fight/violence.

Also, MK Armageddon had subtle nods to Street Fighter characters via the Kreate A Fighter, mainly with Akumas haircut being a usable option.

If SF 6 does guest characters I will bet money we see a highly sanitized version of Scorpion and it has to be Scorpion since that's Boon's favorite character even though Liu Kang would mesh better with Street Fighter. We have been seeing a lot of WTF characters in Tekken the last couple of years, this is one of the few surprises left they could do.

When I say nod that's what I'm talking about with the military brat, she's hot, blond, one of the good guys etc. Storyline wise they're a bit different like Nightwolf and T.Hawk. Nightwolf is more supernatural powers with magic and Shaman etc where T. Hawk is just a brute fighter from his tribe. I was just talking in regards to them being military brat counterparts.
Cammy started off good but got brainwashed for a while but then good again. I don't really count brainwashing to define a characters allegiance since it's technically without their consent like when Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, Smoke, Nightwolf etc were all revenant in MK under Quan-Chi's power being a powerful sorcerer and necromancer. Yeah I can see Chun-Li and Kitana though Kitana started off bad being an assassin before turning good but I get what you're saying.
I also saw some similarities betwern Guile and Sonya -- both are specifically mentioned to be in the Special Foeces.
@@MKF30 Chun-Li and Kitana are rivals cause their signature colors are Blue, both had their fathers killed by a main antagonist from each of their franchise, both sought to avenge their father deaths going after the antagonist.
But Mortal Kombat characters have inspiration from Street Fighter characters like I believe Liu Kang and Kung Lao brotherly relationship is same as Ryu and Ken which why I don't get why Scorpion and Sub-Zero are considered Ryu and Ken rivals but anyway Nightwolf is probably inspired by T. Hawk different ethnicities but still the same with the tribe look that's why they considered rivals but you already know and Street Fighter takes notes from Mortal Kombat all these games copy off each other.

It's probably true that they (Capcom) don't want their characters killed, but I don't think that would be a dealbreaker on the NRS side of things. They could compromise on that, as they did with MK vs. DCU.

I'm MK all along. MK was the 1st fighing game I played. Besides the gameplay, I love the story and the characters. If there were MK vs SF, I'm afraid that the violence would be toned down. I'd rather see MK vs Marvel game. Both are my favourites.

Streetfighter vs Mortal Kombat- the game fans have waited for decades to see and yet, has never happened. Back in the day, the biggest argument was balancing game mechanics since both games play quite differently. We might end up with a game like Streetfighter X Tekken where the Tekken players looked the part, but played like Streetfighter characters.
I’d love to see the gaming mechanics experts of the internet fix this issue once and for all.
Street Fighter vs. DC was going to be a game back then it was pitch to only be a PSP only game and it wasn't pitch by Capcom it was pitch by another game company the game probably was gonna play similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom series but plans fell all the way through which why I believe Capcom release Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX for the PSP only but few years later DC crossover with Mortal Kombat.

I too think its time for a crossover. With SF turning 35 already and MK 30, it may be due on Capcom's hand in how they would approach their characters with the M rated MK world. There would have to be an inevitable compromise as it would be too out of place of the Street Fighter cast to be dismembered and bloodlet and also not to allow Mortal Kombat cast to do their thing of ultra execution. Maybe tweaking what MK vs DC did is the key, only time will tell.
Honestly, fatalities in MK games are a gimmick and are really only cool the first couple times you see them. After that, they're a waste of time. Same with x-ray moves. I really don't think fans would care at all if they were removed completely from a crossover game.

@@DLKnightstick1989 On that, I've thought since the MK9 revival that the series can hold itself on characters and lore to remain relevant as the extreme gore is now more terciary to the series than anything else. But that's what appeals to the mass audience when deciding to pick up a new MK game

i think MK vs SF can possibly happend. but player and dev(especially WBGames/NRS) must ready for this decision. they need to remove Fatality/Brutality on that game. and make the violence level is closely like Darkstalker(there's blood but it's not really appealing, it just has to be there.). because as far as i heard. Capcom don't want their SF character having the level violence like MK and im agree with that. SF characters didn't fit for their body getting ripped. and honestly with that decision im good with that and im only wanted is where Johnny cage team up with Guile which both are my favorite character for each franchise.
and also im wanting the gameplay is feels like Street fighter game but much more smooth and fun. like MvC2 or 3. the attack button have 4 button. like Marvel vs Capcom 3(if i remember). and also for blocking. i think i have an idea about this one. where you can change you blocking methods by Manual or Auto. if you choose Manual, that means you choose MK style blocking where there's a block button. and if you chose Auto, it means you choose SF style blocking where you move backward to block. i think that feature is fair enough.
If it does happen it's going to be an MK vs DU situation with fatalities or a straight up removal even then the SF characters fight for lower stakes when MK is far more grander MK might be big with the import scene but Cero might demand a lowering of violence.

Mortal Kombat was edgy and cool at the time...but it's a trash fighting game compared to Street Fighter. Put way more quarters in the later.
We twins would love nothing more than Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter to happen at some point, finally seeing Ryu and Ken taking on Scorpion and Sub-Zero, making our dream matches come true…
But alas, it was just that: a dream. We may never get this dream crossover fighting game as long as there are rabid MK fans feel MK characters will not work without the gory violence only because MKvDC happened; which I wholeheartedly disagree because the MK characters are memorable on their own with their appearances, abilities, and backstories. They can still do awesome stuff without having to mutilate anyone; In fact, Injustice and Injustice 2 (both T-Rated games mind you) proved that before with Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden as guest fighters.
Also even today, I still believe MKvsDCU sounds awesome on paper. The toned-down laughable violence is the least part of the problem why the game is not very good. The half-baked combat gameplay with useless gimmicks overall is what made it didn’t work, but barely any MK fans wanna admit that because "Bwaah! I wanna see Superman's intestines spilling out of his guts!" Look, even though the violence is MK’s core identity, it does not define the characters. They can still do awesome things without commencing to rip out throats if they were in any crossovers. (...oh Elder Gods, please bring in Scorpion in Multiversus!)
That said, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have a T-Rated, finisher-less Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter game. Just worry more on making overall gameplay so fun everyone can enjoy with deep rich in game mechanics with pulling off tricky combos and loads of celebratory content.
But until then, let us keep dreaming and game on :D
I think that if NRS really wants to work with Capcom in creating a Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter game, that they should compromise on the fatalities. They did it with MK vs DC; why can't they do it with SF? The most important thing, to me, in MK, has always been the storyline and the Martial Arts, anyway, and that's how it should be. The fatalities are just a bonus and shouldn't be a deal breaker for NRS. Just get rid of the fatalities for one game and do the darn crossover!

I was reading that MK11 sold 12 million copies while Tekken 7 sold 6 million. I think MK and SF are definitely the two leaders when it comes to fighting games. Have been since the beginning.
