      Will it helps you sleep better other then blocking the light? Is that good for back and sleeping on the right side because I'm both of them?

      @@jordancornish1464 the main benefit of sleep masks is that it blocks the light so you sleep better. I definitely like it for side sleeping!

    Been using this one for over ten years. You can (sorta) wash memory foam stuff, but it takes a long time to dry , and i wouldn't risk drying it in any other way than a long air dry. I have hand washed mine a couple times with no problems so far. One thing I will do every now and then is put some standard 70% rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and just drench it in alcohol. It evaporates fast, and I assume it kills whatever microbes may be lurking in there. I've had the same one for 10+ years, and I'm just really gentile with it in regards to keeping it clean. I've had styes a few times over the years, but I am convinced the mask had nothing to do with causing them; more likely abrasion or debris from hiking or paddling in dirty rivers. The only thing I do not like is that I cannot open my eyes without the lashes occasionally rubbing against the fabric.

      To anyone with the same question, this mask is the absolute worst. Avoid it all costs, especially if you are a side sleeper.
      I'm convinced Tempur-Pedic has no return policy with these because they know it's a horrible product. It will suffocate you, cause headaches, irritate your eyes, and generally cause the the most uncomfortable sleep experience you've probably ever had. Avoid avoid avoid.

    Your video was very helpful.
    I have a question after watching the video.
    2:39 The part of the mask that touches the ears looks thick, doesn't it hurt your ears when you lie on the side like in the video?
    Also, I wonder if the part that touches the ear is made of memory foam.
    I'm using a translator. sorry for my bad English

    • @AlwaysTiredish
      @AlwaysTiredish  Před 3 lety +6

      I’m surprised you used a translator, your comment sounded very natural!
      Everything that has fabric has memory foam. The part over the ears isn’t very thick. After using the mask for about a month, my right ear was a little sore upon waking. I sleep on both sides but I talk on the phone a lot for work and usually use my right ear. I changed to using the left ear to talk on the phone and tied the mask less tightly at night and the problem hasn’t happened since.

      Responding for future reference if anyone is reading these comments like I am 2 years later.
      I bought one of these after seeing so many glowing reviews and it is one of the worst masks I have ever encountered. As a side sleeper, the thick foam in the strap that goes over your ear is extremely uncomfortable. It's manageable sleeping on your back, but when I roll to my side, it not only presses into my ear but also my temple, restricting blood flow and causing headaches.
      They don't let you return this thing for a reason. They know you will hate it and they will promptly ignore every attempt to contact them. Waste of $30.

    I think they say you can't wash it in the laundry because the memory foam might deform and overstretch, maybe if you put it in a mesh bag that wraps around it just like you do for the mantasleep mask, it could work.

    • @AlwaysTiredish
      @AlwaysTiredish  Před 3 lety

      See, now that would actually make sense! It seems so weird to me that you can't even hand wash it. You might be right on the foam and maybe it ruins it when it gets wet? Only one way to find out!

      @@AlwaysTiredish according to BentlyK who also reviewed it, she suggests wetting a wash rag or small towel then apply liquid soap and rub the mask with it then rinse the wash rag and rub off the soap, lastly letting it air dry, because drying machines also harm memory foam.

    Thanks for this, I was about to buy the manta mask for my partner but she's a side sleeper so considering this one. By the way, have you tried the amino acid Glycine for sleep? It's really good. I've given it to 2 chronic insomniacs who it has helped, I use it when I need it. I like to stack it with magnesium and melatonin sometimes too.

    • @AlwaysTiredish
      @AlwaysTiredish  Před 3 lety +3

      Happy to have helped! Not sure if you saw my video on the Manta mask, but it’s not great for side sleepers. Regarding glycine, I’ve only ever seen it mentioned in passing. I’ll definitely look into it, thanks for the tip!

      @mrbrakelol Před 3 lety +1

      @@AlwaysTiredish Yes I did see the manta mask video. I'm gonna go with the Tempur-pedic mask. Regarding glycine, its good because its got a sweet flavour but has no calories so can be used as a sweetner, and our modern diets lack glycine anyway because we dont eat connective tissues.... I sometimes use it to sweeten my "nighty night" or "sleepy time" tea... but my favourite thing is to put 3-5g of it under tongue and let disolve for a few minutes, then take my magnesium, then take melatonin the same way under tongue (usually 0.3mg that studies show is most effective, sometimes I take more)... you can get magnesium glycinate which is magnesium and glycine together. Good luck

    1 have 2 questions, if you would be ok with answering them.
    1. Is it safe to buy this from Amazon because I have seen some negative reviews their; so I don’t want to get a fake.
    2. Would not washing it at all be fine. Because I’m worried I’ll ruin it if I wash it wrong. Also if I do get this and decide to wash it, should I wash it once I open the package or can I wait.
    Your review definitely stopped me from waisting money on the Manta because I am also a side sleeper.

    • @AlwaysTiredish
      @AlwaysTiredish  Před 3 lety +1

      1) I don’t buy anything from Amazon where the brand matters/I’d be upset if I got a fake. You can totally get this for the exact same price from Tempur-Pedic’s website with free shipping which is where I got mine.
      2) I haven’t actually washed mine - I did spot clean it though. I took a slightly damp washcloth and lightly rubbed the spots where it was starting to look dirty. I haven’t noticed any ill effects so it seems to be fine. I probably wouldn’t submerge it in water.

    Does this mask press into your temple at all?

    • @roycedavies
      @roycedavies Před 6 měsíci

      When you're on your side, it presses hard into your temple and disproportionately into the center of your ear. You will experience headaches and constant throbbing as the mask constricts the blood vessels in your temple while laying on your side.
      It's a horribly designed mask in general, but It's especially bad for side sleepers.

      I purchased one and it's absolutely horrible. Tempurpedic doesn't let you return this thing for a reason.
      It presses on the upper part of your nose, restricting air flow, and to get the blackout effect, you have to have it so tight that it causes headaches.
      I've tried several times to figure this thing out but it is just poorly designed. So yes, hot, stiff, suffocating, headache inducing, but absolutely well-marketed.
