Great radio here in 2022.I think they are around 14.00 now in November.A very solid built radio and even cheap batteries last forever,as well as very sensitive,esp AM and SW.Highly recommended for beginners.
Just got one of these for $22 shipped in the USA and love it. Does pretty well on SW and at times grabs a station or two that gives my CCRane Skywave SSB a little trouble. Fun radio.

Hi, thank you for this video. I have the same radio, I can receive from France, Chinese radios, and also Vietnam radio, so amazing for a so little radio. Some R-9012 have a plug for an external antenna, I don' t know if the reception is better. The button to select the band was very weak on my first R-9012 and after 2 years was out of order.

I have also sw,mw receiver tecsun r 9012. I can receive many foreign sw stations even at day time and mw is also very good,in the late evening,and sometimes at day time especially in winter.
Now I understand the delay. You have bought a new camera !!!

Try collapsing the whip on fm so only 1 section is extended.That should help.

This radio is great for its price, if you have some extra cash laying around, it's worth picking up. It doesn't hurt to have one more radio in your arsenal just in case. Thanks!
I've owned 5 of these radios because i keep giving them to friends.They are great on A.M and S,W. but not F.M. For F.M. I suggest a D.S.P. radio. These are Analog tuned a pleasure to use on A,M. and S.W. Good selectivity and voice sound (treble) . Batteries last a long time . Simple to use with only on/off ,volume and tuning knobs.And they only cost 20 Bucks!

Paulo Fontes O Tecsun PL-310ET é Muito Bom em Ondas-Curtas e FM! Excelente para iniciantes. Pena só não ter SSB (Single Side Band) para poder ouvir os radio amadores e CB. Mas se comecares a gostar de Radio Escuta vais querer ter o PL-660 OU PL-680 para poder ter SSB, mas é mais caro o radio.
Eu trabalho num aeroporto, tenho um receiver de airband e cb o Albrecht AE33H, acho fascinante o mundo da rádio sempre adorei ouvir rádio, e não conhecia esta mundo das LW, MW e SW, e decidi comprar um pois acho engraçado a qualquer tida de de rádios que se apanha de todo o mundo num pequeno aparelho!
Eu estou e no meio do atlântica nos Açores, não sei se isso me vai projudicar ou beneficiar em apanhar estas frequências, espero que não fique aqui as escuras!

On FM, the behavior is the same as a cheap radio radio I've bought a few years ago on one of those chinese stores we have were in Portugal (1 dollar shop).

My Tecsun R9012 is great on AM and shortwave. FM is bad but I didn`t buy it for FM. Batteries last forever thanks to the analog circuitry. It`s a GREAT emergency radio due to the exceptional battery life. I use mine daily/nightly and rarely use my Tecsun PL 310et except for FM listening. AM reception on the 310 is horrible! They know about this issue and refuse to correct it. Try listening to the AM band on the 310 using headphones. For some reason reception improves greatly. But you have to tune 1kz off frequency or the soft mute and audio pumping and distortion are unbearable. Why Tecsun?
My Tecsun PL 310et is a terrible AM receiver. I just ordered this Tecsun R-9012 and I hope it functions properly and I don`t have to go though the nightmare of returning it. If it doesn`t work it will be the last Tecsun I purchase. I`m so tired of Chinese junk!

This receiver is hot hot on MW and very good on SW.
For FM, if you are close to towers, you will get some serious imaging across the band.

Just bought a clone of this one, now called R9700DX. For a cheap radio it's not bad. Got it because we are in a global emergency with Russia threatening nuclear war. Keep prepping, people.
I think that you did not give the R912 enough attention by completely ignoring any fine tune adjustments you could do to improve reception. You can tell from the video that you in fact have rushed tuning it. I can assure you that the R912 will do a much better job whan tuned properly. Tnx.
I have a R9012 and I find it much better than he says it is. I agree, he's not fine tuning it, and with an analogue you must. On mine, the telescopic antenna has no effect on am reception. Maybe he has a defective unit?

The am reception should be running off of a ferrite rod. There's no way the whip will change reception. You can open up most radios, take a piece of wire, coil it around the ferrite rod, and run it as a long wire. Should get some nice am dx ing. Used to pick up central North America and sometimes as far as Florida from the Alaskan mountains.
The Modern Adventurer, when the whip is folded down it is next to the ferrite rod and interferes. The whip needs to be folded away from the ferrite.
Avoid external wire antennas for shortwave. The radio overloads and noise level as well, especially evenings on the higher bands. There are out extensions for the internal telescopic antenna which are the better choice and improve reception. I ordered this radio today an will use a cb antenna that is attached to my house outside an use some speaker wires copper an use alligator clips on it should solve the problem
