I have recently acquired Lupus which can give one all sorts of issues and now I'm struggling with losing my ability to walk. Weak legs no fun. Asthma and suddenly I'm on oxygen. I think once I get out of this old falling apart trailer? I think my health can only improve. I hope so. I'm giving up my freedom way earlier than I thought I would in my life. But taking my guitar and a positive attitude. I used to cook in a couple nursing homes a few years back. They're not so bad. Send prayers!!😂❤I'm tired of being stranded with a broken down trailer and broken down car in a terrible economy. I couldn't see anywhere out but this. So I'll be travelling via utube from now on. Mine has 3 buttons, "I'm OK" "Need help" and "911" which connects to search and rescue according to GPS location. Costs about $150, and you add service, mine was basic and was like $150 a year. Way cheaper than a sat phone but limited functions. You can buy from Spot or places like REI.

That "plumb bob" is actually a window sash counter-weight, very common in old fashioned windows. It's unlikely that primitive cabin had such a window installed, so they probably used it for something else. I used to have about 20 of tbose weights, left over from a house that burned down.

I hate to be that guy that points out other people’s inaccuracies in their comments but forgive me here I go, let me first congratulate you on your VW collection. I’ve had several over the years also and at least two were purchased in Van Nuys but I digress. The Herald Examiner was based in downtown Los Angeles in an iconic building commissioned by William Randolph Hearst who already owned the very successful San Francisco Examiner. I grew up near North Hollywood and delivered newspapers for The Citizen News which was based in the San Fernando Valley. Hope you don’t mind the clarification.
