@@steiner554 problem is some sellers just take advantage of tourists, yes a couple of dollars may not matter but some of them take if overboard and make you pay 10 times the price. I guess you should ask the locals some how for the proper price and pay something close to it.

The joy of Jeremy with his ONE POUND!!!!! Volvo is contagious. However, here where I live the cheapest cars are over 5 million pesos (US$1300), and median salaries are 1.5 to 2 million pesos (less than $500). Not so good, you know.
If only you could get one of those old Volvos today in Sweden for a price UNDER 1500£/€. They've exploded in price

All old 200, 700 and 900-series of Volvo ended up as scrap in early 2000 so there's only a few 1000 still running here and now people are trying to save them. My old 945 turbo would be 4-5000£ today

Agree! This was before TG became the monster of a hit. Look how sparse the crowd was then. I bet you could just rock up and they'd let you in. This was also before Hammond's crash, and the subsequent headlines and publicity. This £1 moment was the turning point, when people started noticing the show.

the funny thing is: The only reason he got it for a quid was because the previous owner wanted to scrap the car initially. But there was a bill passed recently which turned scrapping a car from something you can do for free to something you have to pay for. So Jeremy offered him the symbolic sum of 1 pound to buy it and the guy agreed because not only did he get rid of the car he wanted to scrap, but also made a pound. It was a no-brainer for the seller.
