R.I.P VLF
WhenI first saw the Karma's exterior, I noticed that some of the body panels were not aligning up. I see the same with the VLF Destino (especially the trunk), why haven't they fix this ?
i love these shows w Lutz! He should be more regular guest.
I think Lutz is a joke as well. Has anyone had a worse opinion on cars than Bob?
The car he showed would be handily out classed by a production Tesla Model 3 for a fraction of the price. What a loser!!
Why didn't you ask Lutz why he feels that VLF is a viable business because I don't see it.
He remains skeptical of Tesla, yet somehow thinks VLF has a chance? Gimmeabreak!
@@dlwatib To be fair, he nailed the dates for the Model 3 initial handover how it would go down as well as when real production would begin.
And this was 9 months before Elon's "zero concern and I mean zero of a 10000 unit production by the end of 2018"
Lutz, what a current of prehistoric hot air.
The oil companies love him so hands off! LOL!
Seriously! It feels a bit like watch an episode of mad men.
He believes that in the future we won't be allowed to drive our own cars. It's going to be a choice, but if there's about to be an accident, the cars will take over and avoid the accident. Tesla's are already doing this today. It just doesn't work perfectly yet. But maybe that's because there are still other cars that don't have this feature.
So I'm wondering. What happens if you take two Teslas and try to crash them into each other?
Doug H. Nuts, Of course the oil industry loves him. He started a new company specifically to take the hybrid drivetrain out of a hybrid vehicle and replace it with a V8 to get 3.9 second 0-60. If the Fisker didn't already do better than that, then they designed it wrong.
People will STILL listen to the old cunt’s bones when assembled in a museum.
Oh wait. People don’t do that anymore. Don’t read anymore.
Americans love their past. Dearly hanker after their “good old days”.
Which is why the Retardistanis believe in MAGA MAGA MAGA USA USA USA.
Because they know, intrinsically, Retardistan is Fucked.
While it seems possible for vehicles to suddenly become boxcars, it seems more likely that vehicles will continue to have dynamic and individualized styling and shapes that properly evoke a vehicles function, even in a time of autonomous driving ubiquity.
Open your eyes, fuckwit. The boxcars are already everywhere. Safety drives the expression, regulation ensures it and survival after a wreck guarantees it. The old car mentality out kills humans annually, way ahead of firearms. Focus on something that progresses human achievement, rather than just having an expensive masturbation session. You want individualised styling and shapes? Buy yourself a huge LEGO set to play with.
55:55 interesting to note the failed Lutz prediction on Tesla model 3 timeline: "Ain't gonna happen" 🤣😂
Must have worked at GM
always love hearing from Bob Lutz and i generally agree with his comments (generally) but his thoughts on Lincoln, nah. The industry is changing and i think the people at Lincoln are well aware and will be focusing on ""luxury" not sport. Im a big fan of auto racing , F1 actually, but if i want a "sporty"car, i'll get a sporty car not a luxury car. I truly believe the luxury car buyer will wake up one day soon and realize that the two don't mix. Nor should they mix, your average luxury buyer is not your sports car buyer anyway (spiritually)... Most importantly ....... self driving cars are coming! Come 10 to 15 years from now no one will want a self driving luxury/sports car, just a luxury car and BIG - period.. there you go, they don't mix nor should they, nor will they.
Thank you guys, love your show always
Take a bus.
Judging by Lutz's voice he smokes 2-3 packs in his sleep
Has em with his Kellogg’s and beer in the morning.
Environpsychological reasons....haha good line.
VZLF Destino, the most beautiful car I've seen in a long time. Much nicer than a Panamera or an Audi 7, plus it's American.
Could be a 4-door Corvette
Bob Lutz is a car wizard gr8 interview.
Does this bloke STILL work for GM perhaps?
Brontosaurus meets T Rex . . . . Millennia ago....
Lutz is Lutz. And don't forget: He is 84 years old.
p100d is not the fastest car, thats the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The quickest car is the porshe 918.
It never takes off because no one buys it.
Tesla doesn't make money selling cars, they make money receiving federal government production subsidies. Every other electric or hybrid bar the Prius has lost money, drastically, spectacularly, because NO ONE BUYS THEM despite endless free marketing in the media.
If you have ever seen the Will Smith movie "I, Robot", I think Level Four and Five will be a normal for new vehicles after 2030. Most cars will have Level Four as most people will find being able to take the wheel something they would like to do under certain conditions. Highway and freeway driving will require Autonomous driving, by law, except in some still unforeseen situations. But normal driving on surface streets, at will, will be permitted. Driver assists and heads-up aids will make most accidents a near impossibility save willful intent to cause harm and mayhem.
But continuing to push to make this happen before it is properly ready, regardless the price point, much like Battery EVs is only going to push it back.
Also if they don't pass laws to outlaw human driving, and enforce them, there will NEVER be some arbitrary cut off date that "if you are not so goo by this point, you will NEVER have a chance to get there."
Boy, This dinosaur is dispirit to keep internal combustion alive!
God damn -- this guy is 85 years old. Is he a Vulcan or something??
DroverChicago no he's accurate.
please let somone explain machinelearing
Must be a car word, from an advertising agency.
Bob Lutz on de-electrifying the Karmin(which was already a crap car - though nice looking) - wow this dog sure is trying so hard to make Tesla look bad... and failing...
You know what would make this video better? Less Lutz. A lot less Lutz.
Lutz seems to be stuck in 2009. Pre-autonomy and pre-electric.
Probably shouldn't be watching an interview with Lutz if you don't like him ......
@@dlwatib 1969
GM really good? Unreliable and unethical only surpassed (in reverse) by FCA and FoMoCo respectively.
What Lut's said about the Model 3 is exactly what happened to the Bolt.... build a few thousand and get them to California and then what you have to wait. How does GM mass produce the Bolt without a battery factory? Sounds like GM is five years behind too me.
NorthStead Landscaping - North Bay - Callander oh yeah?!?
I'm not a fan of Lutz. He still seems to get lots of airtime though...
He's a dinosaur, an automotive "Mad Man".
A Dinosaur like a shark or crocodile. Hasn't changed much because he hasn't needed to and when he's gone he WILL be missed much more than you know.
I love Lutz! Bought C7 and Hellcat based on this show. Very interesting
Very Interesting Waste of Your Money, fool
Lob Butz.................
This guy dogs Tesla and just look at the panel gaps on that thing!
It is remarkable that GM did not build a car like the Destino themselves. The thing looks like it would be a GM. So GM/Chevrolet spin off Corvette as its own brand and voila! Corvette GT sport sedan. I can see it.
Chrysler played with the idea themselves with the 1991 Chrysler 300 Concept.
I'm a fan of Lutz. I'm not sure why VLF doesn't have a manual?
One of the best "after hours" ever. Lutz is always on point and sharp as ever.
Lutz the putz.
He should not talk about technology if he does not understand Conservation of Energy.
He still dreams of nuts and bolts, gas fired steam engines and carries a spanner when he takes a piss.
High end crossovers.......meh I have NO desire to own a tall riding hatchback. Please. Give me an affordable performance sedan. Let the A-to-B commuting sheep get their wallowing boring automatic SUVs. I want to drive my car, and enjoy it.
destino!
Just an observer Yes there were uncomfortable circumstances. Lutz is commended for how he steered the ship. I just dislike how the entire automotive world is turning their attention to these identical, boring devices.
Not all consumers want the same thing.
