    In the US, the Fremont-produced units use larger 82kWh Panasonic batteries while units made in Tesla's Shanghai plant use 79kWh LG batteries. Hence the 510 HP in the US and 460 HP in the UK/EU

      Lots of ways of measuring the power of EVs. By the previous method the ‘24 M3P has 627PS where the ‘23 M3P had 534PS. In reality they both use the LG battery which has peak power output of 564PS, and the rated power cannot be greater than this. The ‘24 M3P has more torque below 60mph and more power above 60mph. It’s faster despite what appears to be a lower peak power output!

    • @dpie4859
      @dpie4859 Před měsícem +1

      @@milesr3 what do you mean with the previous way to measure? The 2023 m3p had 510hp according to the website. The new EU model has only 460ps.

    • @milesr3
      @milesr3 Před měsícem

      The 510hp figure for the US variant with the Panasonic battery is inline with the 506hp rating of the ‘21 M3P with the same battery. The LG battery used in the UK/EU has 20hp less peak power and 40hp less around 50% SoC where these conservative power specs are taken.

    It’s not good how they have priced these in the UK- way higher than most countries. Even much more than Ireland who have a higher VAT rate and the same (Eu is all the same as the UK-10%) tariff on Chinese car imports. Plus over 9% APR!
    They will have to drop these like a stone to keep sales going after the initial early adopters have bought them.
    They will depreciate rapidly. Especially when Tesla drop the price.

    Hi Richard, I bought an model 3 performance on lease in 2019 and regretted the day it went back. I ordered a new one today in white/white after much deliberation, I initially wanted red/black or grey/white but think the white contrasting with the black trim would look fantastic. Also I bought at red GR Yaris recently and a metallic red Ferrari Portofino last year but need the tesla as a daily for work and having 3 red cars on my drive would be a bit too much. Tesla are quoting June so just hope I've made the right choice🤞🤞

    Great summary. thanks Richard, I was holding back to order this, currently have a 2020 performance, but I got to say, I'm a bit confused and disappointed with new performance and here is why...my 2020 performance is 490 PS , the new car is stating 460 so that's 470 PS ? I think Tesla have made a mistake on the website. I have watched other reviews, they are saying 510bhp, so even that's only 30 bhp up on the 2020 490PS and not inline with the tesla website.. All the "other reviewers" are still getting it wrong 4 years later and quote the 2020 as being 450bhp (the researchers are aweful). So this is me. I'm at 30k mileage, I have the motors and battery covered till 120k, so now I'm thinking keep the car ! why sell it for 25k, and put another 35k into the new one for such a small performance gain and, yes there are all the other changes but that could be had with the new long range minus the power...me like power. In summary, It would be worth selling at 25k and adding 15k for the long range, as 15k is almost worth all the other new benefits of the long range highland but minus the power. Or, keep my chrome trim, no ventilated seats, headlight update, electric boot lid etc and save 35k. All the hype on the web for the past year was pointing towards 600bhp on the new performance, but I guess tesla don't want the model 3 to be near to the model S plaid in terms of performance, annoyingly, I had a deposit on the plaid for 3 years, and in the last few months they pulled the S , and offered the left hand drive plaid, so i backed out there as well. Im now thinking, keep my current car, and see just how far she will go and last, and then in the future buy a new 2028 model 3 performance :)

    The wheels look like crap with the plastic bits popped out because there is a huge hole or socket next to each spoke that holds the plastic to the wheels.

    • @philparker1278
      @philparker1278 Před měsícem

      I hope someone creates a set of smaller plastic inserts for the minimal area of the circumference, that can replace the inserts the wheels come with from Tesla.
      You are right that without something to cover these holes it's going to be an eye sore.
      But I would expect someone should be able to make some inserts that allow us to see more of what actually look like nice alloy wheels, while still hiding these eye sore holes.
      Also, note that those holes only appear to be behind every other section - when removing the larger plastic inserts, it appears there are no holes behind those - so I assume those purely snap in place. Meaning maybe you could just remove the larger plastic inserts and leave the other ones which hide the holes in place - but of course that itself may just end up looking ugly and bizarre.
      Really need someone to experiment with removing these inserts to see how it looks.
      And like I say, it should be possible for someone to create a set of inserts which look nicer, cover less of the alloy wheel, while covering the eye sore holes.

    This is weird Richard, albeit from the UK I currently live in Sweden. Typically cars are way more expensive over here. Just been on to the Tesla configurator and configured a performance with basic spec as you have. No tow bar, black interior and with out enhanced auto pilot. The cost for this is 644,170 Swedish crowns.
    This equates to £47,575 GBP at current exchange rate. I have never seen this before where I can buy a car in Sweden way cheaper than UK? When I originally bought my EV6 GT it was similar’ish to UK maybe slightly more expensive. Obviously exchange rates were a bit different. But this is a huge saving and very unusual for Tesla. I wonder does Tesla give a damn about the UK because of all the perceived negativity on EV’s in UK? Just very interesting. Interested in getting one myself, hence looking at the configurator!
