Just scrolling through the comments, and it’s pretty heartwarming how many people here have basically grown up with Placebo. I did too, first discovered them when I was 9 (in 1998) and they’ve been one of my favourite bands ever since.
So you should know the sound hasn't been the same since the first 3 albums. Last 2 albums were awful.
Same here, I figure some folks still whines about the old good sounds, to me it feels more like the natural paths of a really cool band.

I found Placebo through Pure Morning as teen and have been with the band since then, so perfect timing I suppose. In actuality I'm pretty proud of my musical taste back then but rarely ever go back to any of it. I'm not sure what it is but Placebo is one the rare exceptions and this new stuff is right up there with anything they've made. Can't wait for the new album.

Not many bands can pull off a two chord song, but Placebo have done exactly that many times. It's a cool song.

@@lincthomas7178 nobody did ask you, but i understand why some two chord songs may be boring which is why it isn't a very common thing to do. This song has an interesting drum pattern change which keeps it interesting, and Barbarism Begins At Home has some incredible guitar and bass arrangements that I personally could listen to for hours.

I am always amazed how well Placebo sounds and how they can take some simple chords and make incredible music. This is a really dark song, with a lot of passion and anxiety, a trademark Molko song, but very fresh and relevant. Love the video. Perfect.

@@monikavarro2020 They really did a good job with this song. It's hard to sing repetitive lines, words, etc. to two little chords over and over. And it's not about rhyme either. Plus it's a dark song, Monika. I was thinking of Summer Rain when I heard it. People are talking about BMM here and so far, no. It's dark. It's political, but that's all it has in common with that album. So far. Laughing. Hope you are doing well!!!!!!

I have loved Brian Molko's voice since i was a little girl. I'm 35 years old now and they know how to get excited every time. My admiration for someone with such a unique voice and interpretation has not diminished even after all these years.
Welcome back, I've been listening to placebo since I was 13 (I'm 29 now) and becoming unwell with severe mental health issues. The band legitimately saved my life with their music and the community that surrounded them. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I've somehow survived til now and it's truly a miracle.

I am 52 and have tickets to see them next year. Look out for the old ones at gigs. We rock more than you could imagine. Maybe not physically anymore but we still rock only in our seats🥰
I wish they would come back to Dallas. I was able to see them once at a festival and it was only about a 30 min set. So they didn't play many songs. 2 years later in 2009 they were doing a tour, I had tickets.... They cancelled the tour because of an injury or something? I don't even remember. But they have never come back here since that 2007 festival, and I would loooooove to see a whole headlined show by them! Fingers crossed for a Dallas (or near Dallas) date on their tour! Where are you seeing them?

i could listen just to the intro and outro for hours on end. which means i also listen to everything in the middle ;) when it was released i was happy to hear this song for at least two reasons: a) i've been waiting for the experimental album they promised for many years and this seemed to get closer than ever before 😄b) it perfectly captured the moment for me, pacing back and forth between feelings on a personal/private level and towards public life. well, it still does. and i love the video. the whole setup of the instruments, the room, the band wearing masks, CCTV,... it's somewhat claustrophobic and in a strange way 'cosy' at the same time. the song, sonically (especially at the beginning&end) and lyrically hint that something isn't quite right but you can't put your finger on what exactly it is. and this mirrors in the video. perfect 🙃

Been a fan from the first album. I'm Almost 40 and they've saved my life more times than I can count. I really hope they tour and come back to the states bc I never miss a show. No matter what us fans go through they are the constant and convey that emotion. Simply beautiful.
46 and still the same love for their songs, grew up all my adult life with them in my ears. Some songs fits some dark moments, some hope, some love but always a song in my life. Always a date even when i dont want to, get married the 10th of december and didnt realize until the day. And now i can not forget this date for 2 reasons ;)

So happy to find here many people that Placebo has been meaningful in their lives too! When I was 17 I was watching mtv one evening and suddenly appeard on tv 'Taste in men' and I was blown away by how cool and talented they were. They've always stayed one of my all time favorite bands and I'm so happy they're still making good music!
Wow the exact same thing happened to me, when I was 14 I was watching MTV and the video of "taste in men" appeared and I was enthralled with the music, I had never heard anything like that. I had to look for them right away and then I fell in love with all their music. They have kept me company all these years but especially when I was a teenager. I remember that when I was going to sleep, I would put the CD in the discman, put my headphones on and I would fall asleep like that with Burger Queen as if it was a lullaby.

An old band I played in opened for a band called Placebo (led by Leslie Feist) in Calgary in the summer of 1996. A couple of days later, we were touring a record distribution centre in Ontario and we saw a promo copy of the first Placebo CD. We made a comment about playing with another band with the same name recently and they gave us a copy of this CD. It was the first Placebo album, but it was a picture of the band sitting on a couch on the cover (wish I still had that). I listened to it non-stop and have been a huge fan ever since. They haven't toured Canada in many years though. Their shows at the Commodore in Vancouver were some of the best shows I've ever seen. Nice to hear some new music!
