Became a fan kind of by accident back in late 1998. I had seen advert posters for WYIN and was curious about who they were and what they sounded like but didn't know anyone who had heard of them until I ended up moving in with a bandmate in SF. He was listening to the first album (don't recall the song at the moment) and I remember hearing this high-pitched vocal that sounded a bit like Geddy Lee from Rush (not a bad thing, I love Rush). I remember asking him, "hey, is that a new Rush album?". He, of course replied, "No, this is Placebo". He let me borrow his copy of the first album that he was playing so I could confirm for myself. Immediately after, I went to Virgin Megastore and bought both albums out at the time. Been a fan ever since. Saw them live in late 2003. The show kinda saved my life in a way. I was going thru a very messy break-up and was having feelings of checking out from life. Something about hearing them live kinda made me feel better. The icing on the cake was that I got to meet them after the show. They were all so humble and amazing. We talked only briefly since I didn't want to keep them. Anyhow, I've bought every album since I became a fan. Every album, better than the last.

I was born in '89 and I feel like you've always been there to show love, show fear, show gender in a way that spoke to me as a transmasculine person. This song is climate catharsis I desperately needed. Thanks for that. Gonna go cry now.
As a bisexual woman who is a few years older than you. I completely get what you are saying. Brian was in my mind a lot of the time as a youngster and helped me understand myself and other people.

I know no one will see this but my journey with placebo started with this song ,it was on my ig stories songs but i had never heard any songs by this band even if knew who they were , i loves the song ,i also had teenage angst saved on my Spotify just because of the riff but never payed attention to the song , After a few listens to their greatest hits i was like...okey i understand the hype , but after reading the lyrics of million of little pieces , too many friends ,song to say goodbye , this band became my life in just 2 months of listening all their albums front to back, this will always be my favorite song by them

It's great to feel such a confident, content position the band seem to be in with their output. Very excited for the new album.
I was finally able to purchase the CD. I just started listening to the CD now. The songs here are easy to remember, even for me, an Asian, to hum along in English. I listen to the songs more than the lyrics, and I also listen to the drums a lot, as well as the guitar.

This band touched me the most in the darkest place of my life, when I was slowly succumbing to a psychosis from my PTSD and comorbid alcoholism. I used to listen to them with my friends back just out of highschool and I liked their music but when I finally came back to them, searching for *something, anything* that could help me, and just started listening to all their songs for no other reason, that's when I truly fell in love. It took me a few years to realize I finally had an answer to the question "who's your favorite band?"
But this song stuck out to me, and spoke to me once again, on so many levels. Now a-days, I've stopped drinking as of... six or seven years ago, pulled myself up by the bootstraps, fixed *myself* (like anyone else could've helped me truly? they kinda suck at it... except one person, you know who you are
I've had a similar experience with them. Still struggling with the PTSD part, but I'm out of the drinking situation. Their music just always seems to have just what I need to hear when the anxiety comes back around to kick my ass. Hope you're doing well in your sobriety! At the end of the world I'll be up on a rooftop somewhere playing this song as well, so you won't be alone.
Brian's voice not the same other guys or bands...so feeling good.
