In this episode we fit the gearbox back into the Berlin, brigade MK10 Chieftain Tank I also fix the oil and water leak on the Abbot engine pack. #tank #mechanical #howto #restoration
The tool for securing the plate on was called a 'tool combination ' or 'combi tool' It fitted all the filler plugs and drain plugs. It could also be used to open hatches from the outside. We also used it as a weight for throwing d10 up into trees so that we could hoist cam nets up.
Chieftain looks great .Thanks for keeping another beast running . Quil shaft removal and replacement was always a bit if a dark art. They always had to be kept in the bin on the side that they came out of when removed for towing.
I guess nobody else made it to 16:40 for the “I can’t wait to hear what the people of the internet think”. Jack, get yourself an old style Hilti gun and just nail the p clips to the metalwork
Nice to see one of those old chieftains looking so good, I can remember training in one way back in the 1980s on Thetford training grounds, brought back some happy memories to this old fart 😂
The more I watch this channel, the happier my life gets. It's almost like being back in the mob with all the banter. You'd all have made great REE-MEE Reccy Mechs! Not an artificer amongst you though ROFL
What a crew you all are!! Good to see the work getting done in a very friendly atmosphere. Best bit is knowing that you are making another Chieftain runnable, I would say useable but it can't use the gun so it isn't.
got to love Hot Panty Jack - he fits those shorrrrrts oh so well, and over trousers, i'm impressed, and his voice never went up while climbing the steps - next week is high heels week and we can't see what Joe is wearing behind the camera - a tank top - the glasses is a nice touch, such a bright lad after being advised to use the words reinsert, removed glasses and resorted to 'sliding it in' is the lever for 1st, 2nd and 'run away' gear Jacks pretty nifty with the old ratchet, but why hasn't he, i mean why hasn't Joe got him a cordless ratchet, use a 3/8s with 1/4 converter, it saves him putting the tool on and walking round in circles loving the banter as ever, always a joy to watch
I hope Jack doesn't need a crap in a hurry lol, things may not go well lol. I lost the bet with myself, I thought "he'll never get them on ffs" ..... but he did He's "like a Meercat" was a crack up
Let's all have a moment of silence for Jack's balls after working in those hot pants, may they one day return to their normal shape and position. What a legend.
@@MrHewes It's time-consuming even with the right pliers, but quite satisfying. And better than lifting the gearbox a week later when the steering disc had come loose and disintegrated. Out of interest, what are you using instead?
I know we were all way too focussed on Jack’s fashion choices at the beginning but was that all that remained of Midlands Joe (from the Abbott video) laying on the floor to the left? Did the liquid that spilt on himself completely melt him?
Be careful peering over those cooling fans while the engine is running and the blades are turning. One loose jacket part and things start to unravel pretty quickly.
in the army, the rumour was that the guy who designed the gearbox went mad......would be possible because it was only slightly better than the engine. .....lots of trouble with it.
Who was slightly aroused by Jack in Hop pants?
That’s not PPE?
I just thought the nuts looked rather tight. Needed some heat...
who wasnt?
You guys must be hard workers with eye candy like that walking around
The Daisy Duke is strong with that lad!
How refreshing to see lads being lads , Keep it up boys
Call me a heathen but I kinda miss the swearing
Using your videos I’ve converted my mothers Vauxhall Corsa into a FV107

Came across this series by accident………now I’m thoroughly hooked. Great to watch.😎😎😎
Love Jacks Top Gun t shirt... Pure class...

amazing those steel capped safety socks had that gearbox dropped
Hey there is a Mil-Mi- 24 Hind on an abandoned military base in the UK you guys should see about recovering it.
I guess nobody else made it to 16:40 for the “I can’t wait to hear what the people of the internet think”. Jack, get yourself an old style Hilti gun and just nail the p clips to the metalwork
I was concerned when the gear box was being lowered in until I saw Jack had his steel cap socks on

You know, there are a great many higher quality tank channels on here. We’re really just watching for the banter.
You put some respect on the name of Fred Dibnah !
Thank you! I refused to search it, sure it would come to me, I could "see" him up there - but couldn't think of his name. What a man
Cheers
The art of being good mechanics/engineers looking like they are pissing about, but in fact being skilled professionals in the process
Yep.
Which video did you just watch?
Blummin adore this ole lass coming together again. A true piece of kit then
Awesome work!!! Can't wait to see it running!

Love these videos!
Can't wait to see the chief running
Thanks! Really needed this turorial. I could not drive my chieftain without its gearbox but thanks to your tutorial i will be able to fix it.

With all the messing around you still do a great job on the tanks 😉😊👍👍👏
Thanks for the laughs boys. The engineering is great too. 🙂
Jack is the bomb....love that T shirt
Good paint job jack
Love the banter
Jack in the daisy Duke shorts is 1 thing I wish I could unsee

Top tip - never touch a discarded sock that belongs to a man who wears a porn hub hat.
Top vid! They are really improving 🎉
Must be the new laptop 😁😁
Another brilliant vid guys Top C..t
I'd pay extra for the unedited version of the Hewes Boyz!
Proving yet again that “Daisy Dukes “ look best on Daisy Duke! Lol 😂
Think you boys should have a Saturday night show .
You guys should hire an HR manager just to see how long he/she lasts before they walk out 😂
5 mins…
How about an health and safety manager😂😂😂😂😂
13:49 I just crushed a house fly. First of the year, so they’re slow and I hear this. Laughed out loud!
Well done boys and ted 🐕

You are very cool guy! I like your video!
Was slightly disturbing how comfortable Jack was wearing his "Daisy duke " denim hot pants ! ........PMSL ......keep up the entertainment lads
As always you are doing a great job and making it very tidy. Good job 👏 👍
I don't watch this stuff for the content.... the commentary is where real fun is.😂😂
That back road wheel rubber on the right side of the tank is screaming for retirement🤣
"I like things clean!!" You'd never guess, looking at the state of him!! ;-)
I hope Jack doesn't need a crap in a hurry lol, things may not go well lol. I lost the bet with myself, I thought "he'll never get them on ffs" ..... but he did
He's "like a Meercat" was a crack up
I am pretty sure Ted knows more about military equipment than most people
Jack in his Daisy Duke's!!!! 😂😂😂😂
everyone knows ted is the most qualified one there
He looks cute in his Daisy Dukes.
Yes
...in 3 easy steps!!! ;-)
13:28 so that's the proper chieftain Allen key you were talking about at 10:39?
Correct
The pin tool is a remover and puter - inner.
Let's all have a moment of silence for Jack's balls after working in those hot pants, may they one day return to their normal shape and position. What a legend.
Looked like the bolts for the steering discs weren't lock-wired.
Always enjoyed doing that job when it was 2am and pouring down with rain.
I despise lock wire
@@MrHewes It's time-consuming even with the right pliers, but quite satisfying. And better than lifting the gearbox a week later when the steering disc had come loose and disintegrated.

nice work - how much under water the engines can go before they stop?
🔝🔫 shirt......brilliant
i wear glasses and i approve this episode. which part of the property do you grow your weed on?
Always a laugh, with a bit of 'mechanical education' thrown in for us non mechanical 'Noddies'... Nice one!. 🤣
Your best Janet Street-Porter look, eh?
I know we were all way too focussed on Jack’s fashion choices at the beginning but was that all that remained of Midlands Joe (from the Abbott video) laying on the floor to the left? Did the liquid that spilt on himself completely melt him?
Jack should be wearing a top runt t shirt.
hahahah tank top would suit him/her Jackie (good for a laugh)
Good to see that T-Shirt got past the CZcams Gestapo.
🤠
Ok....... that T-Shirt ..........where and how much ..badly need one !!!
bed jack walks around like the carpet carrier in the gym.....
😎👍
Funniest thing I've seen all day.
Perfect as allways
Removal/installation tool !!
Naughty, steering disc"s and twyflex always lock wired
I’m a very naughty person
Pretty sure Ted's done more in less time than Jack
The Three Stooges….I love it.
I trust Jack is wearing his steel toecap socks?
Jack’s T shirt 😆😆😆
Great show. So how does someone come and work for you
Keep going boy's!
We need tank ! Poutine put more in combat!
Lucky you there!
At least we have some!😅😅😅
About ready to take on spiney norman
Please use nee pads on concrete Mr Hewes
Be careful peering over those cooling fans while the engine is running and the blades are turning. One loose jacket part and things start to unravel pretty quickly.
Не поламали уже молодці.
I bet there's absolutely no circulation going through his legs with those short shorts on
jack trying to squeeze into those hot pants with that bakery is the best.
in the army, the rumour was that the guy who designed the gearbox went mad......would be possible because it was only slightly better than the engine. .....lots of trouble with it.
Cute pant's by the way 😙
The quill was extracted so cannot then be re-inserted, without being inserted first, before inserting it again; that’s re-inserted.
please stop saying inserted when Jack just reinserted himself into those pants hehe
@@patchmack4469, 🤫, I’m still thinking about those shorts. 😋, Jack!
So that is where Ginger Billy's pants went.
Daisy Jack Duke?
Excellent piss taking of each other, and general arsing about. Oh and a tank thingy
8 times zoom! At least it wasn't in macro mode 😂
Its funny to see you using Milwaukee tools. They're built about an hour and a half from here.
How much does a finished Chieftain sell for? Shipping costs not included.
Inboard brakes to reduce unsprung weight like a Jaaaaaag
Bring back fitter Matt
Just wondering how many gearbox lifts I did or was involved in during the 9 years I was crewing a chieftain
I think that flathead screw needs a screw to hold it in place.
Daisy Dukes and tank rebuilds…… Someone somewhere is finding this enjoyable……😂😂😂
