I also fix the oil and water leak on the Abbot engine pack.

Using your videos I’ve converted my mothers Vauxhall Corsa into a FV107
The tool for securing the plate on was called a 'tool combination ' or 'combi tool' It fitted all the filler plugs and drain plugs. It could also be used to open hatches from the outside. We also used it as a weight for throwing d10 up into trees so that we could hoist cam nets up.

Chieftain looks great .Thanks for keeping another beast running . Quil shaft removal and replacement was always a bit if a dark art. They always had to be kept in the bin on the side that they came out of when removed for towing.

I was concerned when the gear box was being lowered in until I saw Jack had his steel cap socks on
Nice to see one of those old chieftains looking so good, I can remember training in one way back in the 1980s on Thetford training grounds, brought back some happy memories to this old fart 😂

What a crew you all are!! Good to see the work getting done in a very friendly atmosphere. Best bit is knowing that you are making another Chieftain runnable, I would say useable but it can't use the gun so it isn't.

after being advised to use the words reinsert, removed glasses and resorted to 'sliding it in'

Jacks pretty nifty with the old ratchet, but why hasn't he, i mean why hasn't Joe got him a cordless ratchet, use a 3/8s with 1/4 converter, it saves him putting the tool on and walking round in circles

Looked like the bolts for the steering discs weren't lock-wired.
Always enjoyed doing that job when it was 2am and pouring down with rain.

@@MrHewes It's time-consuming even with the right pliers, but quite satisfying. And better than lifting the gearbox a week later when the steering disc had come loose and disintegrated.

Be careful peering over those cooling fans while the engine is running and the blades are turning. One loose jacket part and things start to unravel pretty quickly.

in the army, the rumour was that the guy who designed the gearbox went mad......would be possible because it was only slightly better than the engine. .....lots of trouble with it.

The quill was extracted so cannot then be re-inserted, without being inserted first, before inserting it again; that’s re-inserted.

I think that flathead screw needs a screw to hold it in place.
